So last week while looking through the playstation store i saw ghost recon wildlands on sale. Having been following game periodically and waitinf for it to be about half off with the season pass i snatched the gold edition bundle up for 60. Ive been playong it pretty constantly for the last week and i have a few thoughts id like to share. First i think the world is massive and looks amazing and the sense of freedom you have is amazing. You can jump from area to area at no cost or punishment. This great as it lets yoy grab weapons and weapon attachments that suit your play style earlier so you can really get into your operating role. Second i like how you have to really hunt down the leads of the drug cartel it really feels like youre dismantling something big and really working towards something. Third i really like how they did the stealth aspect of this game even if im horrendously bad at it. You can shoot out lights cause distractions and even wear a guile suit and slowly creepy up and take every one out. For those who are stealthily challenged like my self you can go loud, which is more commonly know as if it moves kill it mode. When you do that alarms go off they call in ground support and helicopter support as well. You really feel like youre fighting a up hill battle as you slowly inch foward to victory. Now that is out of the way, the shooting, driving and general game are in need of alot of polish. Shooting feels super super light there is no realy oomf to it. Driving is a mess cars have ao little weight behind them and they slide all over the place. Its just not fun in general and is a massive pain in the ass. Flying the helicopters and airplanes in this game arent much better. Helicopters feel light and weightless and turning with them is a pain in the ass but at least you can straif and hold a alititude and light shit up with them. Airplanea are so fucking bad holy shit, since turing the camera turns the plan youre constantly fights trying too eye a runway while not turn into the ground. I did it once. Never again....untill i need to level up a kill. Which leads into the leveling system. Its trying so hard to not be a rpg but it just feels like a gimped one. Obviously being a open world rpg third person shooter ubisoft obviously didnt want them to cannibalize each other sales but this comes at the expense of wildlands basically becoming one giant grind fest in order to level up basic skils it becomes a massive drag as you constantly go out of your way to do shit you dont want to too not feel gimped. Teammate ai is pretty garbage and their useless and only good for reviving you and the occasional spotting of enemies. Enemy ai though they will spot rhe fuck outta you 10meters away and hiding in the grass in a guile suit. Its a bit ridiculous and really bullshitty when thats what kills you. Mission types leave alot to be desired aswell it all boils down to go herr get this kill that nuke this. Its fun but a little variety like stealing cars of gang leader and having other typesbof missions could gave gone a long way to making the game feel better. The dlc being completely separate from the main game does not help at all. The game needs more to do inside the main game and with the devs focusing on pvp thats looking very grim we'll actually get it. Customization sucks shit its super limited and for being tourist there are a whole lot of taticool clothing items that make you stand out and not blend in. All in all im enjoying wildlands but there is clearly a lack of polish and it shows.
