“And fyi, even though its NONE of your business, he and I aren’t like that. We’re just friends.”

“But really? Are you some kind of Fangbanger?” Yeah, he’d be the last one to judge something like that. But he like ruffling a few of Don’s feathers. He wasn’t the good guy here, at least not usually.

Belial said the word like it was an insult but honestly there was no better word for it. And so what? No one was getting hurt, not fatally anyway. “The real question is why you even give a shit. Its not like you’re worried about my health and safety or anything.”

“Or are you just jealous that I’m giving my attention to someone other than you?”

Yeah, he wanted to say something mean. He would have, a few decades ago. But somehow he’d changed and he wasn’t going to insult Don right now. Instead his face changed, from mocking to serious.

“You know what he wants, right? Your blood. And that’s it. Vampires aren’t after love or friendship. Blood is all they ever want.”

He let out a deep breath, shaking his head. Hell, he was getting soft.

“Just saying, I don’t want to end up seeing you eating Ice Cream and watching Meg Ryan movies, just because you fall in love and he doesn’t. I hate seeing people cry, makes me want to puke.”

Yeah for a moment there he had it, the being nice thing. Why did he always ruin it? It wasn’t like he was gonna burst into flames just because he was nice.

Don spun around and squinted at the demon, huffing and wondering how he made that guess. Maybe it had to do with the bloody glass still sitting in his sink.

“Who said it was a lady?” was all he replied, not even bothering to deny his current entanglement with Godric. If it was that obvious there wasn’t any point in hiding it, but that was all his ‘uncle’ was going to get out of him.

“Did you just seriously quote Yoda? Jeez, you’re exactly like a nerdy uncle.”

Granted it did sound pretty pathetic when he said it like that. He was the child of an incubus and the last of his line of a powerful witch family, cowering in a corner was the last thing you’d expect of someone with that much power in his veins. But he also really liked being alive too, so it wasn’t unreasonable to at least try to stay under the radar.

He watched with interest as the demon started scrawling something on the wall with his own blood, brows furrowing as the sigil seemed familiar yet foreign at the same time. He studied it and looked back at the demon in disbelief.  “Seriously? That will make me undetectable? Where the hell did you get that from?” he asked, wondering why he hadn’t come across it in any of his books.

“Tattoo wouldn’t work, my skin heals so fast it’ll reject the ink. Bone etching sounds painful as fuck though. Remind me again why you wanna help me so bad? You’re being ridiculously nice for someone as powerful as your name suggests.”

“Seriously?” Belial just looked at Don, not really sure if he just understood that right. Was the kid asking him how he knew all this? Oh fucking hell, this was gonna take a while, wasn’t it? The little baby demon here seemed to know not much of anything. If that. “You know, I should feel insulted that you’re asking that. But for the sake of teaching” - the word felt weird as he said it “I’m just gonna say this: I’ve killed many angels. I’ve hidden and ran and punched and slayed. Pretty sure that after thousands of years you pick up a trick or two. Stick with me, kid. It’s gonna be a wild ride.”

“Right. Skin healing.” He chose not to comment on that because yeah, sure. Skin healing fast was a problem but actually not at all. Didn’t Donny listen to what he just said? Sky’s the fucking limit. “Because I’m bored. And because in reality, you are family. My fucking brother can never keep it in his pants. Which is by design but still.” A moment of silence followed. “Then again, I wouldn’t help any of my other brothers. Like, ever. Maybe Lev but that’s just because is adorable.” A chuckle left Belial, and he smirked at Don. “Plus I doubt you’d make it much longer by yourself. The drinking and whoring is fun but one day you’ll just be exploding. Literally.”

He scrubbed his face with a hand and glanced down at the body. He killed again, and it wasn’t even justified. This man probably had a family, a wife, kids. And now he looked like a popped water balloon, blood pooled around him looking dark and sticky. Good thing he already puked earlier. 

He snorted at the older demon. “I’m well aware I have magic, idiot. I was raised by witches y’know, they taught me everything. I mean yeah I’ve cut back a lot so I don’t get detected, but I didn’t know it would get this bad.” He scratched the back of his neck nervously, huffing a little. “What am I supposed to do then? Let off magical steam and just hope that I don’t attract hunters or angels? “

Belial was still grinning because oh yes. This was great. Sure, he wasn’t a fan of making friends or taking anyone on as a - fuck no - student. But then again, if he could take a kid half demon and turn him into something great, then maybe this could be worth it.

“So you’re doing this human act because you’re scared of hunters and feather butts? I see. What did the green guy say? Much to learn you have.”

With a chuckle he pulled out a knife and cut open his hand, before moving over to the wall of the ally. There he put up a series of symbols, drawn in his own blood. All during this he didn’t talk. Only when he turned back to Don he did.

“First of all, bitch ass hunters can’t detect magic if they’re not standing right there and doing weird things. And some even don’t get it then. And Angels...”

He gestured to the wall, grinning.

“.. aren’t gonna find you with this. Easiest way is a tattoo. Or you let me put that on your bones. It’s fucking magic, there’s no limit, Donny boy.”

Yeah, so he was a little inebriated and very defensive. Probably not the best combo, but honestly he hardly cared at the moment. And judging from Belial’s gleeful expression he wouldn’t mind much either. He didn’t know what the demon stood to gain from teaching him anything, why his plight even mattered to an Original like him. But he was offering the help and clearly Don didn’t have things handled like he thought he did, glaring at the archdemon as though it were his fault.

“I don’t know. Internal stuff mostly. The blood’s leaking from his orifices. He wouldn’t leave me the fuck alone and I just snapped. Everything went black and then…this.”

“How did you know? What don’t I know about myself? Tell me what to do.”

Fucking Hell, Don really looked miserable. And mostly, Belial thought that was just delightful. Seeing him intoxicated like that, obviously shaken, begging for advise. A yes, the sweet face of him being right. Belial loved it so much.

“Ah yes, the good old squishy internal organs. Its a fun thing to do if you know how.”

Yeah okay, maybe this wouldn’t help. Okay, it certainly won’t help.

“Look Kiddo. It’s simple. You’re just a half deamon but doesn’t change the fact that you’ve got magic in you. Powerful magic. You can’t just bottle that shit up. You need to learn to control it because ignoring it ain’t gonna help you.”

He grinned at Don.

“Hey, I know all this shit because I’m old as dirt. I’ve seen it before. I’ve had my fair share of sex with human woman and kids who blew up whole buildings because they got angry. You got off easy.”

He fucked up. He wasn’t completely sure how or why. Maybe it was all the stifling of his demonic nature to fit in. Normally it was fine but he had to have one bad day, one fatally bad day. Now he was staring at a corpse in front of him, just laying there bleeding on the ground, all because the fucker threatened to beat the shit out of him. Well, he didn’t, Don made sure of it. And he went overboard, again. He downed the rest of the vodka he found and pulled the note out of his pocket, blinking at it with blurred vision before tossing the empty bottle and smashing it on the concrete nearby. He then pulled out a lighter, reciting the Latin flawlessly before lighting it, then waited for his stupid archdemon mentor.

When Belial felt the pull of a summoning, the first thing that went through his mind wasn’t Don. It was, if he missed a copy of the fucking book that contained it. He had been pretty sure all of them were gone, but this was the time of the fucking Internet. Please don’t be out there. He’d never get to sleep again.

But when he appeared in front of a dead body, Don staring visibly drunk, Belial grinned. Basically the last reaction anyone should have to a friend in a crisis or a dead body.

“Told you so.”

Oh, this was gold. Belial loved it when he was right. Don wouldn’t live this down.

“What’d you do to the guy?”

“Yeah, sure, whatever dude.”

He glances at the paper and recognizes the summoning ritual, snorting as he crumples it and shoves it in his pocket. Could be useful later to get him out of a scrape, or pin something on the demon instead maybe. “I don’t need anyone to turn to, I’ve got this handled alright? You’re the one who’s convinced that I’m some weird ticking time bomb. Sorry I couldn’t be more entertaining for you.”

“Keep telling yourself that, pretty boy.”

“I think I’m just gonna go now, look for someone to fuck and someone to kill. Maybe the same person, who knows. And when the time comes, I’ll be there to pull your pretty ass out of trouble.” Belial shoots him a look of warning. “If you think you can summon me for the fun of it, I’m going to rip your throat out.”

“Wow, half blooded bastard, finally the true colors show. Those ‘filthy humans’ may not be accepting at first, but I don’t exactly see the demons welcoming me with open arms either. I’m not one or the other, therefore I keep my distance with both. I hide with the humans because unfortunately, I still need them.”

“What the fuck would you know anyway? You don’t have two conflicting natures, your path is pretty clear cut if I’m not mistaken, been here since the beginning if you’re really who you say you are. I don’t want to embrace that side alright? I don’t like losing control, I don’t like hurting people, and I’m not gonna become some stupid tool.”

“You just see where that leads you, you little shit.”

He takes out a piece of paper and writes down a few Latins words. Then he hands that to Don, not entirely sure himself why he does it. “Once you fuck up - which is gonna happen soon, say the words and burn the paper. Imma come by, tell you ‘I told you so’ and we can start over. I’m pretty sure that’s the only choice you have. With an attitude like that, I doubt you have another one of us to turn to.”

“Interesting. A grand tour and lengthy history about the side of my nature that I really don’t want or particularly care for, told by a self important old geezer of a demon. Yeah, no, that’s sounds like a blastey blast, too bad I have like…ANYTHING else to do right now. Maybe some other time, grandpa.”

“Now listen, you ungrateful little shit. You may be a half blooded bastard, but that doesn’t mean you get to be a little fucktard. You think the filthy humans are gonna accept you? Good fucking luck to you. And besides, if you don’t let that shit out, it’s gonna kill you. You have no idea what you are dealing with and if I were you, I’d listen to someone who knows. Clearly no one has ever told you a thing about what you can actually do. You wouldn’t be crawling around up here, living in this shit filled hole of humanity.”

“Wow, thought full-fledged demons were a little more fun. Fine, let me just stuff this infantile boner away before it offends you further,” he grumbled huffily, pulling his boxer-briefs back on before sitting more politely for his uninvited guest. “Alright gramps, what are you really here for?”

“I’m not low class demon scum. But I guess you’ll find that out soon enough.”

“Me? I’m bored and I need something to do. And since I can tell that you don’t really approach your nature and what you can do with, I thought I’m gonna take you on a tour. Explain a thing or two. Let you hear the origin story.”
