Demon Slayer SWAP AU

After her older brother's ankle is sprained, Nezuko Kamado manages to convince him for her to go sell charcoal on his behalf. Sadly, she returns home to find her family massacred and her brother, Tanjiro, turned into a monster. Now she embarks on a journey to cure him and stop the demon who changed her life by becoming a demon slayer!

During her travels, Nezuko meets many peculiar individuals, including fellow slayers Yahaba Hitomi, a fastidious boy who likes order and peace, and Susamaru, a wild girl who is both bold and brash.

Humor me on a little AU concept I'm hypothesizing...

Once upon a dark moon, a lonesome swordsman encountered a phantom of the past. Kokushibo, the fallen samurai turned demon, met a young boy by the name of Tanjiro Kamado, an almost doppelganger of his long deceased twin brother he loathed. Subsiding his hatred, the strongest Upper Moon of the Twelve Kizuki decided to conquer his emotions -the complex he still has with his prodigious twin- via exposure therapy with the child.

In the secluded temple grounds of a cult known as Paradise Faith, the leader and prophet of the twisted religion, though hollow inside, grows curious at one of his followers and her child. Douma, Second highest-ranking Upper Moon serving under the Demon King, begins to lern about Kotoha Hashibira and her piglet, Inosuke, fiding his cold heart to kindle ever so slightly.

In the bustling Red-Light Entertainment District of Yoshiwara, a highly renowned courtesan -an oiran- known as Warabihime prowls the currupt district as her true self, Daki, a vain demon, alongside her brother, Gyutaro. In one of her sporadic hunts, she encounters a street rat whose conditions and appearance hearkens back to memories long forgotten, so, conflicted, she fostered the homeless child named Zenitsu.

These coincidental encounters lead to drastic changes in destiny, but will it be for the good of humanity or for its detriment?

What are Mitsuri & Obanai's backstories for your Swap AU? I'm imagining that for the former before she became an Upper Moon alongside the latter, one of her first victims was that douchebag ex-fiance that rejected her.

 A long time ago, Mitsuri was energetic an energetic girl whose dream was to find love and get married. Unfortunately, most suitors found her outgoing personality to be immature and not proper for a lady. The only person who ever showed interest in her true self was a mysterious boy with heterochromia.

 The boy's (Obanai's) life was riddled with trauma, his mother and cousins would constantly mistreat and insult him, causing him to develop a strong inferiority complex. One day he ran away from home and met an optimistic girl by the name of Mitsuri, who he instantly became infatuated by.

 The two became friends and slowly developed feelings for each other, however their difference in status prevented them from being in love. time and time again Obanai would ran away from home to meet Mitsuri, unbothered by the punishments his mother would give him once he returned.

From here on I have less written down, but my rough idea is to have uit so, one day, Obanai's family discovered where he ran to, robbing and murdering Mitsuri's parents and leaving the girl fatally wounded. He retaliates by killing his mother and cousins.

By a twist of fate, the lovers would meet Shinjuro, who turned the couple into demons.

For context, this is for a very odd alternate universe I'm thinking of developing where demons are a sentient carnivorous subspecies of humans that are a staple of the world. Essentially, demons are a natural uccurring phenomena that certain individuals are predisposed to become.

 Virtually indistinguishable at birth to humans, demons are thought to be a genetic mutation that develops its phenotypes as an individual ages. They have the same abilities and weaknesses as in canon.

They were, understandably, ostracized from society until a social pact was made that made men and demon alike exist in tandem in one society. Demons would stop hunting humans indiscriminately and, in exchange, humanity would provide regulated, sustainable sources of nourishment.

Tensions remain to contemporary times, but demons now live among humans, predator and prey sharing a fickle equilibrium.

What do you all think? I'm still planning things through, but I'd love to better conceptualize it with the imput of you, fellas!

Here are some miscellaneous ideas for this AU to help sell you guys on this crazy concept:

I'm thinking of making demons turn around puberty (so like at 14 or so), before that they look and act identical to a human child in every way. This is to make it so parents wouldn't just neglect their demon children early on.

They also only make for a small fraction of the populace, just as any predator population when compared to their prey.

Modern demons do not (or at least should not) hunt to feed, they are given blood and cadavers provided by humans as per their social contract. Illegal consumption of humans however is still a major concern.

I want to have it so that all characters who were turned into demons in canon of KNY will be natural demons in this, from Muzan and the Twelve Kizuki to Tamayo, Yushiro and Nezuko.

They would have different backgrounds to adapt the fact they are naturally predisposed to become demons. Some, if not most, will be lawful demons who obey the societal rules and guidelines. But others will still be what shall be known as "Deviant Demons", those who break the treaty by abusing their demonic powers, be it in harmful use of Blood Demon Arts or, of course, in hunting humans.

There are those demons still who abide by the accord and fight against rebellious Deviant Demons by joining the armed fircrs special branch for dealing with the fiends. They ally with humans who mastered Breathing Techniques to combat deviants to mantain peace.

I imagine characters like Muzan, Hantengu and Gyokko would be deviants while Nezuko, Tamayo and even the likes of Hakuji/Akaza fall on the opposite side of the spectrum, being Lawful Demons. Characters like Kokushibo or Douma are more complex and have different backgrounds that muddy the waters a bit...

Of course I believe most demons would be neutral citizens, just living their lives in a legal complainsant manner.

"Demon Princess Nezuko" AU concept.

Here's another random idea for a AU I had, let me know what you guys think of it!

Essentially, through unknown means, Nezuko is brought back in time, still a demon. However, she realizes all her abilities she acquired as a demon still remain, namely her immunity to sunlight! Not only that, she soon discovers another power: to convert other demons through her blood!

With new abilities at her disposal, Nezuko vows save as many humans as possible. Will she thwart Muzan's demon legion and create her own? Will the converted demons find redemption? Who knows...

First cringe of the year. Since I've been hyperfixating on Demon Slayer, I decided to combine it with Five Nights at Freddy's because why not.

I imagine William takes the role of Demon Progenitor. Charlie was one of his first victims to be turned into a demon, but she broke free from his control. Michael is probably a demon slayer i guess...

If you have suggestions for this AU of sorts, please let me know.

A spontaneous AU that popped in my brain. Basically it's what I laid out, Mitsuri taking the would-be thunder breather under her wing, becoming another little brother to her. I imagine Zenitsu would be very spoiled by her, but her training would be super duper hard to compensate!

What do you folks think? Personally I really am enjoying this concept! It's cute, wholesome and has some cool potential.

Just wanted to ask this now that the Tsuzumi Mansion Arc has begun in Old Souls. Judging by how Asakusa's Arc is entirely skipped probably because nothing eventful happened this time, is it safe to assume that Yahaba & Susamaru will be fought somewhere else in the story?

Actually, I meant to have mention it originally but changed for the sake of pacing, but the demons Tanjuro/Yoriichi fought in the meantime between the Kidnappers' bog and Tsuzumi mansion were Susamaru and Yahaba.

I would have made Tsnjuro comment on fighting a Temari and later an arrow demon, but I decided it was unnecessary. Still, consider this a Taisho era secret!!

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I was reading your Old Souls fic for a while now & I'm really liking what I saw so far! There's just one small question I'd like to ask. Out of all the Arcs that you've yet to do, which one are you looking forward to writing the most for this AU?

Oh man! What a good ask! Firstly, thank you for liking my fic thus far, I promise new chapters will release soon, I got the first part of the next arc written pretty much already, just need to review it and add a couple details...

Now, for your question... There quite a few arcs I am interested in exploring, but the Rehabilitation Training is particularly noteworthy because of the Hashira Trial, as I'm sure most would expect ;)
