Let’s call this a Katya-needs-to-get-her-shit-together hiatus, shall we? There are several parts to this... the most straightforward is that I need to be applying for jobs, and I’m getting nowhere. But more importantly, I’m trying to write a novel. All I want to do is be an author. All I want to do. But here’s the thing, Tumblr rp not only takes away time I should be spending on that novel ( or applying for jobs, or reading ), it also encourages a very distinctive style of writing. At least, that’s what I’ve managed to pick up from it. Strange sentence structures, dropped articles, and above all else, an impossibly deep point of view that, for me, bogs down too much. It’s sustainable for rp, but not for a novel.

So I’m going to take a week off. Go cold turkey. I’m not even going to sign on to Tumblr. I’ll be using this time to do lots of reading. Lots of reading. To get back my own writing voice. One that works for noveling. When I return, things will be different. My writing will be different. It will be less pretty, more straight forward. More what you would expect to find in a novel. But I hope it will be better writing for that. A better vocabulary, a more readable sentence structure.

In the meantime, since I won’t be checking Tumblr, I’d love to keep in touch with people. Mutuals should feel free to add me on sk!ype (username: rest.is.silence, name: Katya). Please tell me who you are when you send the request! We can chat, or plot out something wonderful to write when I return. Or just throw back and forth Skype chat rps.

In the meantime, I’ll see you all a week from Wednesday: February 10th. I will likely be archiving and moving this blog upon my return, so stay tuned!

I’m kinda tempted to archive this blog and move Klaus. 99% just so I can fix tags and organization and clear out my follower count, since it’s all inactive blogs and just dead weight... and no, I can’t just retag. Because of all the editabereblogs inconsistencies, if I go try to edit some of my posts, I lose my partner’s former reply.

On the other hand, that’s a lot of effort and I’m kinda attached to this blog...

While Camille was not lost to Niklaus, not in the way Elijah had lost lovers in the past, there had still been damage dealt. For a moment he had felt the fear gripping his heart, pumping ice water through his veins at the idea that she was gone. Well and truly. And now she’d vanished with a darkness in her eyes. One that while Klaus would tout as an attractive quality, Elijah knew the truth.

It frightened him.

And so he found his brother in his studio, drinking bourbon and staring at a blank canvas. His muse lost to him in a haze of blood and confusion earlier today. The Camille they knew was never coming back; she would always be something different, but no matter what Elijah knew his brother would have feelings for her.

“ I’m sorry, brother… ” he spoke out of his own pain in that moment, heartfelt and true. They had been at odds for some time now and while to some it seemed ironic given how much of Elijah’s heartache was on Klaus’s hands, for him to be sympathetic, yet that was always Elijah’s way. He loved his brother. Elijah wouldn’t wish the pain he knew upon him. “ She’ll need you, I know you know that. ”

His eyes had narrowed upon his brother’s approach, expecting... something else. Cold words, ire at aught he had done ( though Jackson’s death did not rest upon his head ). An unjustified suspicion, perhaps, for Elijah had been nothing but supportive, since Thanksgiving. Distant, perhaps, for old wounds did not so easily h e a l. And perhaps Klaus himself was simply on edge.

❛ I scarcely see what there is to be sorry about. ❜ Flippant words, a blatant lie. A lie in which he would persist, however. ❛ Camille is unexpectedly still with us, Tristan is at the bottom of the ocean, Rebekah is quite safely on the run... Really, it seems as if we ought to be celebrating. ❜ It would be in poor taste, but never before had that stopped him.

It was, after all, easier to retreat into such a heedless attitude than face his brother’s words. She’ll need you. Yet somehow it had always been the other way. And what good might he be to her, anyways? He who was more likely to pull her further into the dark ( for though terror wove itself through his mind, he could not resist the draw of it ) than help her find balance. Besides, he most certainly did not wish to speak of it. Safer ground, then.

Ok but... we spent all of last season freaking out about Hope and keeping her safe... and now... Who the bloody hell was babysitting Hope while Hayley and Jackson were captured, Klaus and Elijah went to hunt down Aurora with Vincent, Freya and Vincent cast spells, and Cami plays stand-in for Aurora to catch Tristan?

Like no one freaked out. Oh, Tristan’s got Jackson’s heart and says he’s got Hayley, but no one asks where Hope is? There’s no moment of panic over her? Like guys, make up your mind...

Am i the only one who DOESN’T want Klaus to be the one to talk Cami down and keep her human? I’m not ready for that role reversal. I don’t believe that Klaus is ready for that role reversal. He has WAY too far to go before he himself understands the balance between vampirism ( or hybridism ) and humanity. He has countless more lessons to learn, and he may be OK without his teacher for a while, but he sure as hell isn’t ready to teach it himself.

And I honestly don’t think its in character. We saw it last episode. The way he sees vampirism still... like it’s a wonderful g i f t. He may be cursed, but let’s be real, he revels in it. He’s never seen anything wrong with indulging, and he won’t now. There’s no way NO WAY he won’t encourage Cami. And that’s what I want right now. For him to show her all that vampirism can be. And if that means being a little too indulging, I don’t care. That’s Klaus.

It’s Vincent I want to be the one to keep her human. Because he’s struggling too right now. He talked last season about his family’s history with dark magic, that it’s why he gave up practicing. And look what he spent the entire last episode doing. A whole lot of magic. He heard Cami’s thoughts on why she could choose vampirism. Not Klaus. Klaus doesn’t have her reasons yet, and he probably won’t care. She chose. That’s what matters. But Vincent and Cami have been friends since last season. And I know we haven’t gotten to see it much, but... I want him to be the one keeping her tethered, reminding her of what she wanted and why. Because he can. Klaus can’t.
