San Sebastian Fails to Complete a turnaround comeback against San Beda

A Sunday afternoon these 2 schools in the second round of the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City. As first quarter erupted San Beda red lions took off and scored the lead and took the quarter by 10 points finishing the quarter 11-21, In the second quarter the story remained the same the San Sebastian stags tries to steal the lead but fall shorts in the end of the first half, Jb Bahio leading the Lions with 6 points and 6 rebounds.
Things get heated up in the 3rd quarter a lot of physical plays and questionable no-calls for the referees on both sides. The 3rd quarter highlighted the resiliency of the San Sebastian stags scoring evenly with the leading lions topping off the quarter 52-63. When 4th quarter emerges the flow of the game continued of trading baskets causing no change in the lead, however in the 8th minute mark San Sebastian pushed and forced a 9-0 run cutting down the Red lion’s lead to 4.
As the clock ran down as the plays got physical, a play on the 1:30 minute mark got so much attention, with a battle of rebounds players seemed to be committing fouls after fouls but the referee didn't blow the whistle until the 5th rebound.
While the red lions tried to cling on their 4-point lead with 30 seconds on the clock Altemerano of the San Sebastian Stags scored a quick 2-point and finishing the play with 21 seconds on the clock.
In the last seconds of the 4th quarter the San Sebastian stags forced a bad shot from the lions and when the stags got the rebound are Rafael ran a fast break for the clutch layup tying the score 76-76 forcing the overtime. Just as the Stags appeared to have a chance, the Red Lions regained control of the game in overtime thanks to JB Bahio and Peter Alfaro, who combined for 11 points and 16 rebounds and five points, six rebounds, and four assists. Kwekuteye, who finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, split his free throws with 12.3 seconds left to give San Sebastian a three-point lead, 82-79, but Itchie Altamirano's triple from the left wing over Bahio's extended arms ended up being an airball. Damie Cuntapay had 16 points and four rebounds to lead the Lions, who improved to 9-4 overall, to their third straight victory. Tony Ynot had 13 points, six assists, and four rebounds.
After bouncing back from their early slump in the first quarter, where the Red Lions dominated early on with a 21-11 advantage, the Stags made a threat in the payoff period.
