im not going to post a ton about this because this blog is something i use for content that makes me happy, but when it comes to something as serious as racism, to just not acknowledge it as a white person is to be complicit. also because i am white, i am not an authority on the subject and we should 100% center the voices of POC in these discussions, but unfortunately because of this kind of behavior, the sunny fandom is overwhelmingly white.
the show's use of brownface fails as satire and makes the punchline "this racist act is funny" rather than "racists are disgusting idiots who should be mocked." this encourages the racism of their conservative audience, and they refuse to take accountability for it. they are racist for this, undeniably.
kaitlin deciding to defend this behavior while the world is protesting and fighting for black lives is disgusting. her and the others making black lives matter posts and acting like allies despite doing brownface less than a year ago and rejecting all criticism is performative and shallow at best.
black lives matter, the riots are justified, george floyd's murderer should get first degree, and all cops are bastards. here are some places you can donate to help the cause.
so now rob's posting copaganda! again, fuck cops support the protesters. if you dont have money but want to help, this post tells you how you can donate without paying anything through watching youtube!

*deep sigh*
I truly love Sunny most of the time, but there’s a fine line between satirising people who do extremely racist/offensive things and actually doing them. And you’re totally right in that anyone who thinks that the Sunny writers are always in the right is being wilfully ignorant. And anybody who thinks that any sort of use of blackface or racial slurs is okay should burn in hell. You’re 100% valid and right.
thank you. in times like these especially, i feel guilty for supporting a show made by people who do these things and think they’re okay. i’m not sure if there’s a way to reconcile, to be honest. i at the very least have to call it out and be aware of what i’m consuming.
“to our monthly dinner.”
“oh, monthly dinner, baby.”

anytime the gang sings.
the gang recreating entries in charlie’s dream book and giving him a new rat stick because they think it’s his birthday.
“charlie did the elephant drawings. you should keep them.” “i did those for you man.” “i like them.” “you should like them, i put a lot of work into them. and thank you for saying you like them.”
charlie’s valentine’s day song to dee
the end of white trash when the gang cools off with the fire hydrant
every chardee scene in the gang misses the boat.
“let’s go be with the gang.”
finally!
mac and dennis putting their faces on the paddy’s dollars is very important to me
These are too small for me.
Charlie’s the closest thing the show has to a moral center, but it’s a terrifying one. He’s essentially feral—a product of unremitting neglect, cruelty, and a complete lack of affection or care from anyone in his life (including his “friends”). He’s an open wound of a creature whose very instincts toward love and friendship invariably manifest themselves in disturbing (if invariably hilarious) ways. Just ask the Waitress. - Dennis Perkins - AV Club (x)
