First off, Happy Holidays everyone! This project was by far the most challenging. My main premise of the piece was to do the opposite of presenting a physical body or person. The Idea is that the main artist in the piece that is present is always present. The minute details of life is far beyond the complex, and I wanted to credit it to the artist of life Himself. All things in my view were designed and created, much like a painter or sculptor. And the one who has crafted all its complexities is all around but not present in the video. Like the viewer in a potter shop, looking at all the gorgeous works, but the artist is in the background unseen. The idea of the piece was good in my mind, but when it came to practically creating the films and shots, it was a lot more difficult then I anticipated. But I think the message is mysterious enough and not so focused on a human body but rather the wonders of “the potter”.
Another main reason I chose this style and direction was because I did not like the focus of Marina Abramović’s works. I love and respect her work and artistry but I did not like the self-centered focus. So, in essence, this piece is like the opposite of her work, in that I divert the focus on no one, not even myself.
