just in case any recent musksite migrants find me here (I’m weinoying there; nagarjuna on ao3) - I mostly just reblog stuff over here, but I’m down to chat with people, especially if we have common interests! (mostly BTS and Untamed/MDZS at the moment, but I also occasionally read/write stuff in other smaller fandoms). I’m thinking of writing more about stuff here, but I’d also love if people made Dreamwidth accounts! It’s honestly the best place for longer, more text-based discussions these days, and I wish people knew about it more (I know most people won’t migrate there since internet culture is so visual as opposed to text-based these days, but if you’re more of a text person, like me, it’s truly the place to be - I’m deoh there as well). Give me a few days and I’ll start posting more both on DW and here; for the moment I’m just gonna try to find where the musksite people I follow are going to go next

I'm surprised the 12 year olds reading Percy Jackson weren't already familiar with the myths the book is based on. Like, isn't that the appeal? It's for nerdy kids who love mythology and want a cool adventure story based on it.

Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.

I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.

Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.

in all seriousness though a fandom doesn't die when there's no new episodes or games or "content" to play with and it doesn't die because people aren't as loud as the day it first came out either. if you're still creating then the fandom is alive. if your mutual who has since moved on still reblogs a post about it every four months then the fandom is alive. if there is even one person out there still engaging in, creating for, or just enjoying that show or that game or those characters, then the fandom is alive.

"fresh content" isn't the soul of a fandom. you are.

so i have finished a psychological thriller novel, and have begun the process of doing research so i can prepare to query agents. now, my novel has some pretty intense triggers in it, so i am aware it’s a bit of a hard sell– that being said, many agents have a “do not send me your novel if it has these things” list, so that’s what I’m looking for so i don’t accidentally trigger someone.

so i’m going down this list, and i find this agent. their “do not send me” list includes the following: non-consent/sexual violence, age gaps, teacher/student relationships, stalkers, cheating, everyone dies at the end, miscarriage/pregnancy, and abuse masked as love.

okay, cool! everyone has different tolerances for stuff, and it’s perfectly reasonable to not want to be involved with a story that has stuff you’re uncomfortable with. not the agent for me, but good on them for defining their boundaries.

but then i scroll back up and they’re requesting for gothic horror.
