the current instagram-influencer-glow up-perfect girl culture is so imbued with this look of being ‘exotic’ and its so weird and not good. its like…the perfect look at the moment is to be naturally tanned, have perfect small nose, almond/cat eyes and straight thick brows, curly/thick hair and thick lips and to be curvy but only in certain places. like this look has cherry-picked only certain features from various ethnicities to make some supposedly perfect homogenous aesthetic, which both erases the actual diversity of people, steals non-white people’s appearance as desirable, and encourages some girls to literally get surgery etc and pretend these features are natural to them. and we all know this is just exoticism, and that having exotic features is but another trend on the periphery of white girls’ lives that will pass and leave the actual nuances of non-white peoples’ lives in the dust
