the idea behind this ‘fresh start ritual’ is making a ceremony out of starting again. it’s connecting the spirituality of the world around you with your body, and your mind, and taking the time to feel the change!! i am by no means an expert, but this process has been helpful for me and i hope it can be helpful for you too!!
golden rules:
- you can customise this process to suit you. if you have things you want to swap out, feel free to rewrite this list to adhere to what you know best about your own mind/body/soul
- you can start again as often as you want. this isn’t a one time thing, this is a ritual that can take place every tuesday. this is a ritual that you can fit into your life after your lowest moments
- be patient with yourself, and be forgiving!! this is about healing and you can take as long as you need
cleansing. have a bath / shower! use exfoliate scrubs ! wash your hair and cut your nails! allow your body to be as raw and pure as possible.
detoxing. drink water. drink herbal teas. hydrating your body is key ! (obviously, don’t over-hydrate) but your pee should be a light, barley-water colour. this is optimum! aspire for this!
decluttering. in the simplest ways, tidy up. move clothes from your floor into the wash-basket. put things out of sight that are cluttering up your vision. you can deal with a more thorough tidying process at a later point, this is quite a superficial way of clearing the air.
releasing. use a journal, or a blog, or an anything that you can use to get out all of the things that are stressing you out. speak aloud to a stuffed animal! call a loved one! write a huge word document. nothing is off limits. complain, vent, rant, and get it all off your chest. say things you are scared to say, things that seem petty.
assessing. what does the ideal you look like? draw them. describe them in bullet points. imagine them. what do you need to do to become them? what tiny changes can you begin, from this exact second, that will help you reach them? what isn’t working in your life at the moment? are there toxic people / bad habits?
breathing. remember what you love about yourself. the things that make you strong. your body, that despite everything, keeps you alive. practising an attitude of gratitude is good to remind you how you are worthy or respect from yourself and others.
deleting. delete old photos to clear up storage space. delete old numbers that you don’t need to keep anymore. you carry so much with you everyday. trim the excess. lighten your load!
tomorrow is a brand new day of infinite possibilities
everything is going to be okay
things that can nurse your mind:
losing yourself in a hobby
