âPlus. if they want the dog they have to come to you anyway.â
He laughed âActually, once I pulled something like âif ya want to I can give you his number. Which is my number by the wayâ. But it didnât end very well.â

âPlus. if they want the dog they have to come to you anyway.â
He laughed âActually, once I pulled something like âif ya want to I can give you his number. Which is my number by the wayâ. But it didnât end very well.â
ââŠum. Itâs only, um, May? College kids areâŠare done, though. Iâve been done for a little while now, and, um, I think exams ended last week.â
âGee, so why is this place like this? People should be at college parties or somethinâ like this, no?â he chuckled âSo, youâre a student, then?â
âThatâs okay, hon. Itâs an easy-ish mistake to makeâ She giggled softly, a slight hint of a warm smile along her lips. âPrecisely. Theyâre most likely the ones who have complained through the winter about it not being warm enough. Oh, the ironyâ She shook her head slowly, loose brown waves rolling off her shoulder. âI prefer the winter though. Itâs a lot easier to put layers on than it is to take them offâ.
âI use to live in sort of big house with a big outdoors area, so when spring started me and my siblings would go wild playing outside. Nothing against the winter, tho. I even like some parts of it, but ice slippery street are just a pain.â he said putting his phone back into his pocket. âBut youâre right in a way. Itâs easier to stay warm on the winter than cool in summer.â
âI also have another one on the way, so, I guess that over the course of the next few years, itâs very likely for me to fill the house even further, actually.â She said truthfully with a wide smile playing on her lips. She had more help than the average person, she had money and she had means to have as many children as she wanted to, it was just a matter of how many children she and Lucas wanted to have. âA writer? Isnât that sophisticated of you. I am a mom, for the time being, but I would love to eventually get back into art.â
âOh.... oh! Congratulations then.â Derekâs smile got wider âIt ainât really as neat as it sounds. I only have one book published, and Iâm struggling with my second one. I might need to get a job eventually.â He sighed feeling a little helpless about the subject. âArt? Cool, what kind of art?â
âIs it Summer Vacation already? I was so sure that itâd only just crept into Springâ Ed couldnât help but raise an eyebrow at the abrupt conversation. âWhich also begs the question     why arenât they outside? Frolicking in the sunshine?â.
âWhat?â Derek got his phone on his pocket and with a few touches on the screen it spoke the correct time and date. Seeing that he was so off he brought his hand to his head laughing âFuck, I got it all messed up. So itâs spring still. Well, anyway. You are right, people should enjoy while itâs not damn frozen outside.â
âI like cheesy much better on my pizza. I mean, I wonât say no to a bit of romance and cheesy people, but itâs not entirely my thing.â Maya admitted with a slight shrug of her shoulders, a crooked smile on her lips. âI donât know, is it? Itâs nice to have a place to go to.â
âFunny thing; I love cheesy romance books, but when it comes to my own life I donât think I can act like that.â he sighed and cleaned his finger with a napkin âBelieve me, this is one of the best pizzaâs I ever had. No wonder why I missed it so much.â
âI always get sort of envy when I hear people telling me about their big families, mine is rather small in comparison, just me, my parents and my sister and in contrast, Iâm already cutting out to have a bigger family than my husbandâs,â Lucy mused, always rambling beyond what she should and hoping that the young boy wasnât going to be bothered by her talking too much. A small laughter came out of her and she shook her head. âPlease donât call me maâam, I feel like the intimidating lady my mother in law is and Iâm notâ Lucy is just fine and I guess these people are right, besides, home is almost never a place. I am Canadian, yes, french-speaking, hockey-cheering Canadian, filling out all stereotypes,â her grin was wide. âWhat are you doing while youâre here? Do you study?â
âWell, you have got two babies already. So maybe you can have a full house too, no?â he knew it wouldn't be the same, but at least she could have a taste of what it was like. For most of the times he enjoyed having his siblings around, but he couldn't imagine how hard it must have been to his mother. âOkay, Lucy. Iâm sorry.â he said with a smile and drank a little more. âOh, Iâm a writer, so I have my own crazy working hours. You?â
âIs it really time for summer vacation already? Doesnât that one start in June? Or late May?â he questioned the man, itâd been a while since heâd had summer vacation so he could be wrong.
âAinât it July already? Gee... I need to get out of that hotel room more often.â Derek said with a sigh. He had been stuck in front of his laptop for a while now, to the point that days seemed to pass in a different way.
âYes they have. Which makes it harder for me to keep up with the kids from the group homeâ
âI used to get totally wild during summer vacation. I would drive my mom and siblings crazy. So I canât really blame them.â
âReally? Itâs actually the other way around for my sister and Iâ he explained. âThings were difficult at first, I guess I was jealous but weâre really close now. If I can give you an advice, itâd be not to let that difference affect how close you areâ.
âWell, we are from a big family, and Iâm one of youngest. So I guess being jealous was the other kids job. You know Meggie, so you probably know she can be very over protective. Specially about her siblings.â his advice made Derek smile, but there was some grief on it. He missed his sister. âShe is always so busy with work ânâ school now a days. I just donât wanna hold her back.â
âMaybe the fact that itâs raining and people prefer covered places might have something to do with that too.â
âI guess this makes sense. Ugh. I hate crawled places. I just have to find something nice to my mom and Iâm heading off.â
Actually forget I said that. That was â Yeah, I think itâs time for me to go home. What do you mean might be thinking about it?
âWhatever, man. Itâs coolâ he said finishing his coffee. âItâs juts that my editor is probably so angry at the shitty work Iâve been doing that he might be thinking about throwing me in front of a train or something.â
âHard days are something you get used to having.â she explained. âAnd Iâm so used to those I donât even perceive them as such anymore.â the businesswoman added to the thought. In reality, sometimes she would be working for such long hours that her days blended together.
âAnd you did need any coffee to perceive them? Respectâ
ââpardon me? Oh â it isnât summer vacation yet, at least not for public schools. The school year ends on the last Friday in June. These might be students from McGill, I suppose. But I donât think they would be celebrating the end of the year in a mall.â
âOh yeah, thatâs rightâ he sighed. High School seemed a life time ago. So much have had changed since it. âMcGill? Yeah, it really doesnât explain why it is so crowded. Maybe some celebrity is around?â
âOh, Summer Vacation. Right. Thatâs why suddenly the shopping malls became so crawled.â
Sounds like plenty reason to me to go hop on a train. I swear Iâm not trying to be rude.Â
At first, Derekâs jaw just drop, what the hell was this guys, but then he just started laughing. âWell, my editor and publisher might be thinking about it.â
Camilla pushed her hair and back and shook her head, âThis is exactly what I donât need right now.â She took a deep breath and bit her lip, âAre you doing anything important at this moment?â
He sighed as he noticed that he had probably just screwed her night. âNah, I was just heading to the store to buy some snacks, the ones in the hotel are expensive as hell. Donât worry. It ainât far from here. Thatâs exactly why I didnât bring my guide dog, thought nothing bad could happen in such a short distance. Who would have guessed, hm?â he laughed a little nervously, trying to show her that he was okay âIâll just head back and change to something dry.âÂ
