Her arrival caused Sherlock to stand on alert, eyeing the door and with his ears straight up, Kyle’s 3-year-old dog was ready to attack in case the person outside the door were an uninvited guest. “Calm down,” Kyle said in a low tone, his hand gently stroking the dog’s fur. He continued walking forward to answer the door as the dog’s expression became more tranquil. Sherlock followed him. A smirk came across Kyle’s features at Cassie’s comment about his apartment, which he had worked hard to afford. He really loved that place. “If it were an Air BnB do you actually think it’d have so many boxes lying around?” He asked stepping away from the door so that she could walk in. There were not that many boxes, but there were still some he hadn’t gotten rid off, since they had been the last ones to have their contents unpacked. “Please, come in.” He gestured, “How are you, Cassie?”

Cassie leaned down to pet the dog that had started sniffing at her legs, figuring he was friendly since Kyle wasn’t holding him back. “You could’ve done it as a ploy, or maybe you like to get really comfortable at other people’s places.” She joked, standing back up to go through into his place. It was far nicer on the inside, Cassie was both fueled with jealousy because her place was so ugly compared, and happy for him at the same time. He did have a decent job, and shitty things had happened in it. He deserved it for sure. Pulling off her jacket she looked over her shoulder, “Yeah, yeah I’ve been good. Things have been different, I’m not working three jobs anymore. It’s almost boring.” And quite lonely, but that wasn’t something to share on a casual evening with a friend she hadn’t seen in a while.
