Things have gotten back to normal over the last few months as mark has gained more strength and finished his recovery. It's like the accident didn't even happen at times. Aside from the fact, that we now live more like roommates who share some kids. The romance is gone and has been for so long now. I decided tonight that is going to change. It has to change. I've come too close to kissing x-ray techs in closets too many times. I sent the kids to go spend some time with their uncle derek and aunt Meredith along with their favorite little cousin drew. I change into the new black lace nightie I bought at the mall and settle myself on the kitchen island as I wait for mark.

“Maybe she was having a bad day?” I suggest.  I hope that will ease some of his fears until I can speak with his teacher in the morning.

“well that wasn’t very nice,” I comment.  I rub his shoulder and wonder why the teacher didn’t send a note home with him or give me a call if he told her he couldn’t focus.  “I’ll call and speak with your teacher tomorrow, okay?”

Kindergarten is rough.  They never tell you that when they send you off with your power rangers lunchbox and smile wide as you hop on the bus and don’t look back.  But today was rough.  There’s this mean kid that just won’t stop picking on me, and I couldn’t pay attention in class or answer any of the teacher’s questions.  I didn’t even have fun at recess or story time. 

I finish my handwriting worksheets and math and pull myself up on the couch next to mommy.  “Momma, why are some people so mean?” I ask laying my head on her shoulder.

"Who was mean?" I ask softly. I kiss the top of Harry's head and wait for his answer. I hate to think that anyone would be mean to my son, but I don't really get a choice.
