ADMIN ANNOUNCEMENT

As I’m sure you all can imagine, this wasn’t a decision that we took lightly, but it is one that we’ve been teetering with for a very long time.

The admin team at Derry has put their heart and soul into running this group, falling in love with the stories that filled the dashboard and the muns that brought them to life. But, like most good things, there were difficulties as well. We won’t get into the details of the struggles we’ve faced over the course of the past nine months, but if you’ve ever been an admin or dealt with troubled players, we’re sure you can imagine. We’ve persevered through more than either of us expected, in hopes of keeping Derry up and running for our friends and ourselves, and we’ve finally reached a point where we both feel as though we can’t force ourselves to do this anymore if it’s not making us happy.

This decision was not based off of one thing, or one altercation, we promise. It was nine months of hardships and changes and trying our best to do what we believed would better the group, only to watch these ideas fall flat over and over. That’s not to say that we haven’t treasured our time with you all, because we have. We’ve just come to a unanimous decision than neither of us feel as though continuing Derry is good for our mental health. I feel like the times that the two of us have talked and expressed frustration or disinterest about being around has taken it’s toll, and while we’ve fought tooth and nail to do what we thought was best, sometimes you need to let go of the things you love.

So, it is with saddened but relieved hearts, that we say goodbye to Derry. We have loved our experience with all of you, and hope to write together again soon, and we wish you all the best. Thank for nine months of horror stories.

As of today, Derry is officially closed. You are welcome to carry on your characters and stories, as we would never limit that, but the main will no longer be active and you will only be able to reach the admin team at our character blogs, @charlottejackman and @chandlerkeene from now on.

ADMIN ANNOUNCEMENT

Please read this entire post as it goes over activity rules as well

Since becoming a closed group, we’ve been thinking about how most of you said you didn’t want the limit to be lowered, and how in closed groups, especially small ones, the character limit is usually very high. Taking that into consideration, and what some of you have said when we asked for input, we’ve decided that the baseline for all muses is six and if you want any more, you will be granted more muses IF your activity is up to par as well as seeing you write your muses with both romantic and platonic threads. We want Derry to thrive, and we know sometimes more muses will be inevitable, but please only write as many as you can handle, and please understand that if we tell you you can’t have more than six muses, you can always be allowed to have another one later if we see you are writing sufficiently with all of your muses. We need everyone to be aware of their own personal schedules and availability when considering how many characters to play, and to know what you are able to handle writing. It’s important to keep these things in mind, because your partners will be waiting on replies if you have too much to balance.

Taking this in mind, some activity rules are changing as well. There will be one activity check a week, on Fridays, and now you’re allowed to go 7 days without being put on it - however, if you want more than six characters, you shouldn’t be going an entire week without posting something substantial (hiatus’ not-withstanding). We know people have lives; we know you guys have things you like to do IRL other than write here all the time, and we encourage a healthy balance, but we don’t feel that it’s unfair to ask for high activity for high character count.

Having said all this, regular acceptance rules still apply - you can get one muse a week, the acceptances are still only taking place on Wednesdays and Sundays, and we will never punish you for dropping muses you aren’t inspired by, but if we see a trend we might have you wait a little longer before accepting your next muse.

We hope this all makes sense to you, and if you have any questions or concerns, please send them to us, anon or otherwise. The only way we can thrive is if we all work together and find happy mediums while still understanding rules need to be in place.

We’ve heard from three of you so far regarding changes to the fc limit, and we plan on having information out to you guys today or tomorrow about what we’re gonna do with that!

Good morning, Derry!

I wanted to take a quick minute out of my day to address an anonymous message we received today. It wasn’t inappropriate, or anything like that, and we do welcome this kind of feedback at all times, about any issue. This one, in particular, was about the character limit, basically stating that five doesn’t feel high enough in a closed group.

Of course, my co-admin and I have already discussed our views on the matter once we saw it, but as a closed group, we feel it’s very important to include our member’s voices, and with that being said, we are asking your opinions as well, which can always be sent anonymously as well, letting us know what you think of the limit of five characters, and if you don’t think it is high enough, what number you think would suffice better. We want you all to have freedom here, and feel like you have the means to create, so it’s very important to discuss these things and continue to give feedback as changes are made, so we can get to a place where everyone is happy.

I’m not saying that we are for sure going to raise the limit, but if we do, we definitely would like to see an increase in activity on the dashboard. It has been very slow lately, and we think there are still plenty of members/characters here to avoid the lulls we’ve been noticing.

Good morning Derry!

After about two months, any starters that are in the likes get unliked, so if you haven't posted a starter in a little bit, maybe think about it!

I know some of you don’t really like open starters and I totally get it! But even as a closed group, sometimes it’s not easy to get every character interacting, and that’s the purpose of open starters - to help muses interact when they either normally wouldn’t, or when you can’t think of a closed starter situation (yet).

This is not mandatory, I just wanted to give you guys a little reminder and an update as to how long things stay in the likes.

As per usual, Admin S and I have been discussing what’s best for the group behind the scenes at all times - while we will continue to encourage the activity standards and that the rules will be followed even now that we’re a closed group, we’ve decided that in depth activity checks will now be done on Fridays. We’ve noticed, activity wise, that everyone tends to be less active on the weekend - ourselves included - since everyone has lives and sometimes the only way to do errands or see loved ones is over the weekend. We know that you all have lives outside of the RP and we think this will be a much better system so no one gets worried about how their activity looks to us over weekends when you weren’t around for whatever reason.

We spent the weekend talking about this based on our own tendency to not be around on the weekends and how we noticed the dash looked on the weekends as a whole. We know that we have fairly lax activity here but we want to continue to encourage everyone to write as many muses as they can handle, with everyone since we are now just a small group of seven and there’s no reason you shouldn’t have one connection with everyone.
