Soo... I don’t normally blog about work, but this caught my eye in our stock room... My Japanese is very limited, so I could be COMPLETELY wrong, but something isn’t right here... The English says “Sesame Oil” but... The Japanese says Flaxseed. - and even then... The Japanese is off... Flaxseed would be アマニ so where did that ソ come from? I think the correct word for Sesame would be ごま, or ゴマ? (or at least thats what pulled up sesame seeds on the japanese Wikipedia) - Though it looks like some products put a ‘e’ in front, so maybe エゴマ油 is correct? Though I keep getting results for Perilla which often is called sesame leaves in English speaking countries even though Perilla is more related to mint >_< Anyways I have to think this is because its a product of Taiwan. - You think Engrish is bad. Apparently from that Ive heard Chinese <-> Japanese is worse. And going Japanese -> Chinese -> English apparently leads to Pokemon Vietnamese Crystal.

I don’t understand people... Apparently its standard practice for DS games to have a prefix release number... WHY!? Why the fuck would I need to know “This was the 512 game released on the DS!” Furthermore: What about games that were released on the same date? How does one decide which goes first? alphabetical? Also I can’t be the only one who thinks that this has got to SUCK when searching for a game. “Oh yeah I wanna play Advance Wars - Dual Strike!” Well unless you have a search function you gotta remember an arbitrary number! rather then... you know going to the games starting with A... then Ad... then Adv.. and you likely will have it... Are you really gonna remember that the European version of that game is # 0111? My guess NO. EDIT: So im told its a scene number and helps with finding newer versions of rom dumps, or who dumped the rom... That doesn’t explain why it has to be a prefix though. Cause Im REALLY gonna remember “Oh if I want Rune Factory 1, its number 1330!” And Rune Factory 2 is 2979! I bet there is a 99% chance no one reading this would know The Dark Spire’s Number. - and WHY would you!? Its a random game! If everything alphabetical at least you’d be able to find it fairly quickly. Its ether under “Dark” or “The”

I love Radiant Historia, but man it has a couple of minor issues. - I do hope they are slightly addressed in Perfect Chronology 1) Moves and their descriptions are from Character perspectives, not the players. Left/Right Swing, are actually push up and down. Column and Row, are also reversed. Suggestions: Make the -description- from the Player’s perspective. (Cause unless the camera rotates, who cares about the Character’s perspective) 2) MAN getting Rosch back as a party member takes forever. And when you do, you can easily be twice his level! - Same thing goes with other characters who aren’t in the story for an extended period of time. Everyone else was > level 24 however Rosche was level 16! I return to the other timeline and I was level 30 (thank you grinding up Rosche), meanwhile Eruca was 23! (and she had no chance to level up before a bossfight.) Sugestions: ... I dunno, the more EXP for being lower leveled certainly helps, but something like just giving them X amount of EXP to help push them closer to where they should be if they were in your party the whole time?

I think Neon Genesis Evangelion made me want to kill myself. That was watching a trainwreck, and the train was filled with teenage angst, self loathing, and everything that turns people off to anime. Congratulations Eva. You sucked, but still became popular.

Sooo... tile_add was removed form GMS2 cause of the new layer system. Alright! so whats the equivalent? tile_add_layer or something? ... Nope... EDIT: Found out how and WOW is this backwards... var tmpMapID; tmpMapID = layer_tilemap_get_id("Tiles_1″); tilemap_set( tmpMapID, TileNumberHere, PositionXhere, PositionYhere) Why couldn’t layer_tilemap_get_id be built in? I dunno! now what is “TileNumberHere”? Its the number of the tile that you want to use... however you don’t determine this by x and y cords... WHY!? So if you have a 256x256 tileset of 16x16 tiles... and you want the one on the second row first column. its 16. Now this might not sound bad till you think: Oh... wait a tileset that has 32x32 tiles has over 1024 tiles and it be stupidly easy to misscount. meanwhile with an X Y cord system you could open the tileset in a image editor and more then likely it will give you the cords of a pixel.

Watching old episodes after watching new episodes really solidifies to me that the new ones don’t feel like the riffers were actually “watching” the movie. Its little things like: Tiiming. - which could have easily been fixed if someone just delayed lines by a second. aka don’t have the riffs happen EXACTLY on a jumpcut. or start a riff before something is even on screen! Interacting with eachother - I think one reason why I don’t think Jonah and the bots have good chemistry is because 90% of the time their lines sound like they aren’t listening to eachother, like they aren’t even in the same room. First impression: New MST3K

... ehh. Some parts really feel like bad fanfiction. Some of the jokes feel like “Its geeky! get it?” “lol nerdy reference!” The timing is... off. Like they Riff on something before it is even on screen. All in all, it comes off like they are reading lines, rather then watching and reacting to the movie. - I’d need to watch another episode but it also feels like they aren’t together in the same room watching the movie together, bouncing jokes off each other. I could almost mute 2 of the 3 hosts, and everything would be fine 90% of the time. I have a lot more to say like the SOL being literally a greenscreen. I know the old show looked like it was on a budget, but REALLY? a greenscreen!? Thats not “budget” as much as “lazy” looking.

Random thought:

I learned more about analyzing stories via TVTropes then I ever did in Highschool English. Highschool English taught me EVERY FUCKING DETAIL is symbolism. “In this movie this character never wears green because he doesn’t like nature!” -*raises hand* Every scene this guys in is green screened. I think that is actual the reason they never wore green. (That was a thing that happened in one of my english classes)

Persona 5 is not a 10/10 game

There are WAY TOO MANY invisible plot walls. WAY TOO MANY “Lets not do that :D” form the fucking cat. I never felt so railroaded in a game in a long time. Specially a Persona game. I swear these characters can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. I’d rant more, but according to some cat I need to go to bed early cause I had lunch with a friend today, and I’m gonna have lunch with them again tomorrow. - Apparently I need to goto bed at 9pm for that.

Radiant Historia

I remember liking the game and disliking the game’s story. Liking it cause Time travel! Fuck yeah! Disliking it cause... Some of it’s logic of time travel makes no sense... Saving someone in one timeline saves them in another? What!? - That actually makes no sense. But now that I’m thinking about it... It could make sense... if the time travelers are bound to the same rules as the player is. (IE they can only travel backwards to nodes.) It becomes a battle of nodes, and making the other Chronicle user’s nodes (and so their futures) useless.

This is a fairly confusing chart... Lines are color coded to who they relate to: Stocke is Red, The Black Chronicle user is Black, and Blue is neutral. The dotted lines are our two time travelers movements. The solid lines are the futures they create. Squares are nodes.

So we begin on the Blue line, aka “True History”

At point 1, we can assume that the Black Chronicle holder thinks stopping this merchant, will achieve victory, and so they go back, and stop them, creating a new timeline.

Stocke gains a node on this new timeline where the Merchant will be stopped.

Stocke realizes this whole timeline is dead end, and goes back to the node at position 2,

Despite plans being made to stop this merchant, Stock has foiled them, and meets the merchant anyway. The Black Chronicle user has not been given a node since they altered the timeline.- This means that this whole “Stop the merchant” timeline is a dead end to them, as Stocke can counter it. Both Stocke, and the Black Chronicle user can return to an old node.

The Black Chronicle user does not stop the merchant, and continues down the neutral path. waiting for another node, where they can alter timelines once again

In this scenario, saving a person in one timeline saves them in another (from Stocke’s perspective) but in reality he just made the blue timeline future open again.

To the nay sayers of turning off weapon durability: With no weapon durability you could have challenges that aren’t possible atm like: Beat Gannon, Naked, with only a stick, and pot lid.

Ugh... they STILL have the Copy/paste tied to brushes rather then... Oh I dunno just pasting the thing! - Cause I LOVE centering my mouse to just fucking PASTE an object. They really should have made the new brush system Ctrl+Shift+V. ... Also what is the point of pasting a new frame from the clipboard if it doesn’t actually paste the image? It just makes a blank image thats the same size and its up to you to have your mouse centered and mouse click it. - NO I just want a duplicated Frame WHAT THE FUCK!?

So GMS2 apparently came out of Beta... >_> I still find it weicially with some things with the UI having inconsistent design choices. For example:

In the sprite editor the toolbar area is 100% attached to it’s window/tab whatever you wanna call it. - This is in a sense useful, since why do you need brushes and colors while editing code? Meanwhile:

The room properties is it’s own tab that is 100% separate from the room editor. It does not go away when you go back to editing code (it doesn’t even auto minimize) Why is this not attached to the room editor tab? Ive never felt the need to edit the room when I can’t see it, also its kinda annoying that I need to manually hide it any time i switch out of the room editor.

Ok if -Anyone- tells you that you “have to use the environment”, and that its 100% viable “Stealth is key!” They have obviously not gotten far into the game. 2 explosions, and 2 bomb arrows later, and these ‘Silver Bokoblins’ are at still at 90% HP. - I am running into 2 of these things every Bokoblin camp, they are not rare. They have 720 HP. Your Explosives/Rolling Rocks/”OP magnet” don’t do shit. These things are the definition of bullet sponges, and they will take a fair chunk of durability of any weapon you use on them.

-They do drop gems though which is kinda cool.

I just beat Breath of the wild... I said to the other two dungeons “Fuck it” There is only one Zelda game before this that Ive ever wanted to end so quickly. The game started out VERY strong. But as I got further in the issues I had with it kept piling up.

I have to agree with Jim Sterlin on this... 7/10. - Gonna get a LOT of hate for not saying it’s a god tier game because I see flaws, and cut corners.
