Last year I found my dream job in my favoritest place in the world, the Big Bend of Texas. I guide trail rides for Big Bend & Lajitas Stables. The horses I work with are such good trail horses, the office views never get old, and I’m proud to work for this company and alongside a great team of wranglers. Through this job I’ve gotten my WAFA & my WFR certifications and those were such cool courses to take. Big Bend is a tough place to live, but I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and I’m proud of myself in every aspect. I thank God every day I live in such a beautiful place, surrounded by such a diverse group of crazy fun desert people like myself. I love meeting new people every day and introducing them to the world of horses. We take people of all experience, as all of our horses are beginner friendly. If you find yourself down by Big Bend National Park, come ride with us! We’ve got lots of ride options, all quite affordable, for whatever you’re looking for. (My favorite rides are our multi-day trips we do!)

Do you have any fears or anxieties on death or your own mortality?

What an intense question 😂

For the death one, yes, but it's not about myself

I'm personally not scared of death but I'm scared of the death of other people, it keeps me up at night sometimes but I got therapy for it and it's been making things easier.

In June my dog, Ruppy died and I learnt a lot about death and coping with it, surprisingly from a Netflix show called "Midnight Gospel" (the last episode) . It opened me to the need to make sure you spend a lot of time building meaningful and loving bonds with those who you love and that death is always going to be there but so will the love and memories you have.

At that time about 2 months later while studying Judaism, I came across Shiva. If you're dealing with loss I would recommend you to have a long mourning period. Even though you might not be Jewish, the practice of the guidelines of shiva help a lot .

My mortality calms me sometimes, I enjoy knowing that there will be a time when I die, not in a depressed way but in an accepting nature way. It makes me feel connected to nature, like the plants and animals will follow the same cycle I will and that's beautiful.

My closest relative talks to me about life, humanity and death a lot and she carries the Latin phrase "Memento Mori" around because it reminds her of reality. She discussed with me about getting a Memento Mori calender. You cross out the boxes every week and slowly it represents how many weeks you have left to live till your unavoidable death, it sounds hard core but it keeps you mindful about you waste your time with things that might not be what you want for yourself

Dreams vs. Standards

We don’t manifest our life according to our dreams. Our dreams are meant to guide us and give us direction, but as we can see, they don’t usually manifest, and here’s why:

You manifest your life according to your absolute minimum standard– your subconscious minimum standard.

If you want to know what the absolute minimum experience you’re willing to be available for is, just look at your life. There it is. This is what you subconsciously believe is realistic for you. You’ll always experience the life you believe is most realistic for you. 

This doesn’t start out as a conscious decision; our subconscious minimum standards are both learned in childhood and also inherited in our DNA (epigenetics). We can rewrite it, but it’s not simple.

Not in a “boohoo” kinda way, though.

Like when you swim deep enough and the water changes temperatures. Deep sad.

It’s a grief that makes me wanna swim to the surface as fast as I can, but the sudden warmth is too inviting. A hug that suffocates you, slowly.

I feel like a moth to a flame. There’s a familiarity about this bond, this feeling. I wish I could describe it. It’s so toxic and unhealthy, but I can’t say no.

It’s like that one brand of bubblegum…smells amazing, immediately chews so fluffy and flavorful…but then turns plain and undesirable, so you spit it out. In this scenario, I’ve kept chewing the gum bc for some reason sometimes I think the flavor will come back.
