Patty singing the Bernadette part at Barks rehearsal :)
I like going to Broadway Barks in large part to see Patty Saccente hold the whole thing together with her own two hands
Another year, another logging on to ask the ether for them to announce the Broadway Barks date
Bernadette on set of Adam Rifkin’s new movie Last Train to Fortune - March 27, 2023
I saw Michael Casey and Judy Katz (and Sean) as I was heading into Old Friends earlier and I just find it really endearing that it's always them together at every BP event
Hello to everyone in places of power. Mary Testa is constantly saying she’d do Queen of the Mist again. The 15th anniversary is slowly approaching. I would like to see Mary Testa do Queen of the Mist.
Logging in to look through the Mary Testa tag for something only to come across this post I forgot about. I did get to give in person thanks to the architect of the production she got to do in NJ but also just wanted to put on record here how grateful I am that I got to see her sing that show live.
In one of the talkbacks another actor asked her if she ever thought she'd get to do it again, and she said no. I've thought about that answer constantly since. The idea that she was putting that energy out into the universe with kind of no expectation that it would amount to the result she wanted
Patti cancelling her NJPAC show is the right choice because
her voice was not there the other night at Tarrytown. I've seen her a bunch and never heard her struggle like that for notes. She has a voice that just seems to flow out of her normally
The anecdote hits so much harder when you listen to them tell it rather than read a version of it
Happy Dolly Parton's birthday to all who celebrate!
I've been waiting for her to talk about something for six months
Something from today's matinee of The Roommate (for context I say this as a repeat attender with an over-attention to detail)
Just before they dance when Mia has her lines about the music drifting from above etc Patti was kinda holding her necklace out from her chest as Robyn kinda loses herself in the idea of it. And then when Sharon gets her attention, Mia grabbed her hand so her necklace like swung back against her
And then as they're dancing it's been sort of the same the whole run so far. Mia usually has both of her hands on Patti's upper back (always stationary until like two weeks ago - now she does these little caresses) and Patti usually has one hand in the middle of Mia's back and then one on like the back of Mia's arm. When I tell you that today she had both hands on Mia's back until she moved one hand to brush her hair out of the way (because it was kinda blocking Patti's face with the way it landed on her shoulder) and then her hand was settled in Mia's hair like at her shoulder until they stopped dancing
Very important to state here for posterity that I was at The Roommate last night (likely place for me to be) and P*tty S*ccente was there

I saw it a while ago, but I can’t stop thinking of how hard the pre show music at Oh, Mary goes. The transition from Patti’s Latin from Manhattan into Bernadette’s Chico’s Girl took me out

Remember this?
the way that I have historically been a Carrie Brownstein girl but am fully a Corin Tucker girl starting with this album idk idk
Ben Rimalower is my personal ally for saying to Bernadette that her recording of Johanna is "one of [his] favorite all-time Sondheim recordings" and inciting her to say "the words and the notes of 'I feel you' is so intimate and beautiful"
Ew to the Sweeney replacement casting rumor
Ok I saw it this afternoon and want to rescind this in part. Sutton is great. Aaron's acting great, but I despise his voice for this score
