During our brainstorming process, we wrote down some problems that we could possibly solve and then move from the problem to a natural solution. One of the problems was: How might a household become more self-sufficient and thus save more energy? This sentence then led us to biogas plants. When biowaste decomposes, biogases and heat are produced during the process. We would like to use this heat and thus energy to generate energy ourselves. If it would be possible to build small biogas plants of similar construction, which could be used in private households, then the households could partly produce energy themselves and this only through their own biowaste.
BIOMIMICRY
“Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating Nature’s time-tested patterns and strategies.” – Biomimicry Institute
During my last semester I learned a lot about biomimicry when I wrote my bachelor thesis on this topic. I was fascinated by that method, by which you can find a solution for almost everything in nature. I am very interested in working in this field of sustainable design after my studies. That’s exactly why I want to participate in the Global Design Challenge and try to contribute to the solution of the enormous amount of human problems.
The Biomimicry Global Design Challenge calls for design concepts addressing any aspect of climate change adaptation, mitigation, and reversal in any sector of the economy. The task is to create a nature-inspired innovation (a product, service, or system) that aligns with one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals, outlined by the United Nations. They are especially interested in projects that go beyond familiar approaches by identifying unique leverage points for change, removing barriers to the adoption and spread of existing solutions, and/or clearly demonstrating how biomimicry can lead to new, novel, or more effective solutions.
First ideas for the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge 2020!
Editing a commerical film for my audible campaign. It‘s all about the voices!
This short film emotionally transports the idea of how important voices are and why we should listen to them.
First idea sketch
“A lot of Choices, stay with the Voices!” is the name of my campaign. I want people to focus only on the voices. They become attentive through the speakers and then they get headphones as a give-away. With the headphones you have the possibility to select audio books from three different genres and then listen to them as a 10 minute audio sample. With the QR code on the headphones you can immediately download the app and register for the 30-day free trial.
My next step now is to find the best places for the campaign. Where is my target audience? How can I reach them? Therefore, I will conduct a survey to find out the best places.
