Let's go out to eat. We haven't done that in quite some time.

Peko says with a slight smile though Tenko could tell that something had changed from a few moments ago though its probably not a good idea to bring it up.

What kind of food are you feeling like?

When she spotted it, she tugged on Peko's hand to follow. "Do you want udon too, or are you hungry for something else? I'm willing to listen to anything that you want to say!"

Because of where they are situated they don’t buy much meat at all, only what can fit in their small freezer. The cabinets that hung in the kitchen held many pastas, rices and the like that would last them a few weeks if the weather turned bad.

Out of the corner of Tenko's eye, she caught a look at a sign. "It looks like this diner serves both ramen and udon, so let's go in there!" It wasn't too busy, but there were a few people in there to escape the cold. The two of them sat down, perusing the menu. "Like I said earlier, I am hankering for a hot udon! How about you?"

After all, they had already managed to make this trip out to the city after planning for it. They could slowly rejoin the outside world, even if their home would always been in the countryside. It had been a long while since Peko had to fight, for any reason. Mainly because being pregnant meant Peko hadn't been able to move much. Yet it was clear the warrior within had never vanished, just lay in wait.

"We could always go to a place that serves different kinds of noodle dishes, so we can both get what we want!" The aikido master always tried to make things work out. There were eating establishments out there that served both ramen and udon, and so they could both get the food they were craving. "Keep an eye out for a place that serves both of what we want!"

Peko says, knowing that restaurants wouldn't simply put their menu outside with their sign meaning they'd have to actually go inside of these places and more than likely sit down to get access to a menu.

Peko says as she lightly compliments Tenko's appearance. There is a bit of a need in her tone for some passionate kissing, something the young couple lacked with a baby in their life and having to settle for quick cheek pecks than the full deal. Peko also partially knows this is for the best or else she simply wouldn't be able to stop herself after a kiss.

Currently, Tenko was sitting in a rocking chair, holding her little Reiki in her arms. The little girl had been rather fussy today, and Tenko was doing her besto to get her to calm down.

Peko did manage to touch a few before she registered Tenko's new words. She snapped out of the childlike excitement that she previously held. That excitement is quickly replaced by the cold pressures of adulthood as she turned around, she is here for her daughter, not for herself.

Let's go out to eat. We haven't done that in quite some time.

Peko says with a slight smile though Tenko could tell that something had changed from a few moments ago though its probably not a good idea to bring it up.

What kind of food are you feeling like?

"You know, its been so cold, that I'm actually in the mood for udon!" Christmas was just around the corner, and so the weather was getting colder. Tenko still had a plan to sneak off to get Peko a plush as well, but perhaps it was best to wait until after food. So the aikido master studied the area, to see where the nearest udon place is. When she spotted it, she tugged on Peko's hand to follow. "Do you want udon too, or are you hungry for something else? I'm willing to listen to anything that you want to say!"

Tenko was willing to change destinations if Peko was feeling something else more when it came to food.

Peko doesn’t want to tell Tenko no, she has an uneasy tone in her voice as she says it. She actually didn’t give it too much thought, what did she feel like having? Then images of something she hadn’t had in a long time came across her mind.

Because of where they are situated they don’t buy much meat at all, only what can fit in their small freezer. The cabinets that hung in the kitchen held many pastas, rices and the like that would last them a few weeks if the weather turned bad.

Feeling Peko's hand, Tenko instinctively grasped onto it, holding onto her wife as a source of comfort. "Yeah, it looks like we're feeling the same way! Which makes it all the more important to get used to this! After all, one day Reiki is going to strike out on her own!" That would be as an adult, a very many years from now. Still, that didn't make it less painful to be away from their young daughter right now. Perhaps the best way to deal with this was to focus on the mission at hand, getting the best present for Reiki. So Tenko looked to see what the nearest toy store was. When she spotted it, the aikido master tugged on Peko's hand. "Let's go inside there and check it out!" It didn't take long to go inside the store, and Tenko couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. There were so many different options for toys across multiple age groups. She wasn't sure where to start.

Peko follows Tenko’s lead. Thankfully they share the same concerns and fears about their daughter. She only could focus on getting a gift for Reiki’s very first Christmas.

Alright, this is. a bit overwhelming

Peko was denied most toys growing up, those were for the young master and young lady of the house while she had to study the blade. Peko doesn’t really know what to get Reiki but being a small child did narrow the category to what’s appropriate and their budget limited the selection further to just stuffed animal plushes.

A stuffed animal would be right.

Thinking logically, those are least likely to pose a choking hazard and can be taken pretty much anywhere without the risk of falling apart or pieces being lost somewhere

Tenko understood that logic, so the couple went over to the stuffed dolls aisle. Of course, the dolls were also organized by age, so Tenko gravitated towards the area of dolls for very young infants. "There's dolls that look like little girls, but also dolls that are shaped like animals! An animal doll could be like a protector for Reiki!"

By which Tenko meant, Reiki could feel that the doll protected her, even if it was just a plushy. The comfort could be very good for Reiki, especially when the girl might otherwise feel lonely. It would be a while before Reiki would be able to meet anyone else her own age, a plush animal companion could help in the meantime. "So what do you think, Peko? Do you have your own thoughts on what kind of doll that Reiki might like?" Tenko knew that Peko didn't exactly have many toys, but that didn't mean she wouldn't have her own opinions.

Part of me wanted to bring her here to see what one she’d naturally gravitate to, but that seems like a bad precedent to set especially since we don’t want her to know she’s going to get something beforehand

Peko says as she examines the offering as she wonders about herself and her own desires. She likes fluffy creatures so Reiki should as well, right? Is that how this works? Peko thought as she looks back at Tenko; for some reason she always looks super kissable no matter what mundane situation she’s in.

At times like these, Tenko would let her heart guide her way. So what she found herself gravitating towards was a tiger plush, so she picked it up. "This seems like it could be a good fit for Reiki! And seeing her reaction could give us a good idea of what she likes!" Of course, that was the risk with presents. But even if Reiki ended up not liking the tiger plush, it was the thought that counted. "So, do you want to buy anything else while we are here?" Tenko asked Peko curiously. A very long time ago, the aikido master heard a term: "gap moe". About women somehow managing to be cute by not trying to be cute. While Tenko had scoffed at the term at the time, privately, Tenko had to admit that Peko fit "gap moe" perfectly.

Though she might have said that Tenko fit the aesthetic of a tiger better. Peko continues to smile as she looked around at the place. She ponders the question on a second level, with the you in the question Peko is taking to mean herself.

She looks around at the things she would buy, drifting away from the small infants section to the back of the store. Here the shelves are overflowing with larger stuffed creatures as Peko's eyes sparkle with childlike wonder. A smile creeped onto her face as she decides to touch a few of them.
