Idk when (if) ill ever clean this up so have this timkon wip and remaster it in your brain
practicing affection and backgrounds
Batfam Headcanon
Jason Todd absolutely calls out people who are being assholes to retail workers because he knows that they can't defend themselves without risking getting fired/reprimanded.
The Batboys As Classic Emo Songs
Dick-The Middle by Jimmy Eat World because like the song, he's always encouraging things and trying to make people feel better.
Jason-I'm Not Okay (I Promise) by My Chemical Romance because it's angsty, angry, and a song that Jason would have absolutely blasted as a teenager after getting into a fight with Bruce.
Tim-A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More "Touch Me" by Fall Out Boy because like Tim, the song is very self-deprecating and we all know that while Jay was the angry emo kid, Tim was the angsty emo kid.
Damian-I'm Just A Kid by Simple Plan because of his constant insistence that no, he is not too young to drive the batmobile, go on patrol alone, etc. even though he absolutely is and his complaints are viewed simply as whining by Bruce.
Things the Batfam has absolutely done in quarantine
Dick has made them all do a full on High School Musical marathon. Tim helped him decorate the screening room with Wildcat colours and posters of Zac Efron everywhere (a la A Very Potter Musical).
Jason and Damian have created their own strange version of a book club. They sit in the library and read the same books at the same time, but they don't speak to each other while reading or about the books after the fact.
Tim has actually been able to sleep for more than four hours in a row since patrol is only limited to extreme emergencies (Arkham or Blackgate breakouts). He now goes to bed at midnight and sleeps until noon. He hasn't gotten out of his pyjamas since March.
Cass is spending her days bingeing Netflix with all of Damian's pets who have grown attached to her since she's always home with them now. Damian always ends up joining them since he wants to spend time with his pets (and his sister even if he won't admit it).
Alfred has become the king of all stress bakers. He's made everything he's always wanted to try but never got around to. Every week he makes a batch of chocolate chip cookies on top of all his other baking. Jason helps him out with this most of the time and the two of them are often found in the kitchen with Jason's Spotify playlist cranked up.
Dick has taken to doing gymnastics everywhere in the house to get out his energy. He's sliding down the bannister, doing back handsprings to go the bathroom when he gets off the couch, using the chandeliers to propel himself through the air, cartwheeling up and down the hallways of the manor. Basically, now that he's home full time, he's turned back into his sixteen year old self and he hates it.
Bruce is going insane. He's getting more and more gray hair and the salons are closed so he can't get it dyed. Being home with all of his children at once was something he had always wished for and now that it's his reality, he realises to be careful what he wishes for. The boys are fighting one minute and getting along the next, Dick is breaking the furniture everywhere he turns, he's actually sick of baked goods, and he's trying to help Damian with his homework and yelling "how can they change math?! It's math!"
Every day Tim thinks that he's finally going to be productive and get everything done that he didn't have time for. Every day Tim is proven wrong and the next thing he knows it's already midnight and too late to do anything anyway. Instead he finds himself rewatching his old favourite shows on Netflix from the very beginning.
Captain America: Civil War is banned in my house because everytime I watch it, I get very angry (passionate) about Team Iron Man vs Team Cap and I feel like the Batfamily has similar rules for certain movies too. Like Damian is not allowed to watch any of the Pirates of the Carribean movies because 'that's completely impractical, no sword fight would ever look like that!' and Jason is banned from watching most film adaptations of books because 'they're ruining it, oh my god! How could they do this?!'.
The Addams Family (and its sequel) is the one Halloween movie the entire Batfamily can agree upon and enjoy without a fight. There is something there for everyone to love as Dick loves the family themes in the films, Jason relates to Wednesday wholeheartedly, Tim loves how they subvert the traditional American film tropes and cliches, Damian loves the antics the kids get up to, Bruce loves Gomez and Morticia's genuine love and affection for for each other, and Alfred finds their little traditions and antics amusing. Every October, they watch the movies at least twice each, but usually more than that. They quote it daily even when it's not October. Every time the theme song comes on, no matter what they're doing, they will drop everything and do the snaps on instinct. Barbara played the song over comms once and civilians caught each of them doing the snaps individually on video. There is now a compilation of those videos on YouTube with millions of views and it's become a meme.
Have a safe, happy, and candy-filled Halloween everyone!
TIKTOK HAS DIED!!!! TIKTOK HAS DIED!!!!
Not telling your kid they have a learning disability, chronic illness, mental illness etc. so they can “feel normal” actually does the opposite. They will not feel normal if they do not have the context to understand that their normal will be different from that of their peers.
The amount of times I’ve heard a parent say something like “I’m just not going to tell my son he has ADHD, I want him to feel normal.” HE DOES NOT. HE DOES NOT FEEL NORMAL. HE IS WONDERING WHY HE IS STRUGGLING AND COMING TO THE CONCLUSION HE IS AN IRREDEEMABLE FAILURE.
