Kloktober Day 29: So What Happens After AotD?

The next three months are a blur of activity, a thousand things that need attending to, a hundred of the boys' whims to answer to, and a world to help rebuild. And coming back to them feels easy, familiar, like wrapping himself in a long-lost jacket found buried in the back of a closet. The boys are easier to work with now, in their own ways, more agreeable and more attuned to each other and to him; he gets invitations to pal around (even if he has to decline many of them), they visit him in his office just to "see how yer doin'," "just checkings in on yous," "juscht making schure everything'sch okay," and it touches him in a way he hadn’t thought he could feel. They get drunk on one of his rarely-free nights and pass around a Sharpie, graffitiing his cast a second time with their names and more "get well soons", until Murderface tries to draw a dick and Charles has to confiscate the marker.
