💣 ▌ BRUCE
“Kid, there’ve got to be half a million more entertaining things you can be doing with your night than following me around,” Bruce said wryly, glancing sideways at the teenager walking with him. He shoved his hands in his pockets, staring up at the moon.
Inwardly, he was kicking himself. This, he reminded himself irritably, was why he didn’t go out in public. Of course the one time he’d decided to swing by an actual grocery store and not a street cart, he had to be recognized. Naturally, he’d tried to brush the kid off, but the girl was persistent. Still, eventually he’d find a way to shake her.
“Nightclub… babysitting… drinking gasoline… What do you want to be hanging around an old man like me for? Get lost. Go have some fun!”
Tabitha walked alongside him, not daring to look back. Not long now. She picked up her pace to keep up with him while almost encouraging him to walk faster. ❝I’m not a kid and maybe we’re just walking the same way, did you consider that?❞ She glanced over to him, perking a brow before glancing over her shoulder almost nervously.
❝Hmm... Gasoline. Tried it, didn’t really do much for me.❞ She shrugged. 10... 9... ❝You know, this might not be the best place to be on a night like this. You never know what could be lurking around the corner...❞ 5...4... ❝Hey... maybe we should turn the corner just up here!❞ She quickly pushed him to the side as the ground shook under the below them. ❝In fact, maybe we should probably find somewhere to hide...❞
