I just found out about the whole Mats, Cathy, Celine, and Lisa saga (i knew this was very late), but oh my goodness, that was MESSY
There was a time when I wanted Benni to stay in Schalke even after what Tedesco did. There was a time when I still wanted Seb to stay in F1 even after what happened at Ferrari (and then Aston Martin). But then I understand how damaging “stay” could be. I understand that maybe, leaving, freeing yourselves is the best, even when you have to leave the sport and the team that you love so much, that shaped you to be you’re today, that give you so many beautiful memories. Because sometimes, all those amazing things that come with it come to an end, and instead of being a color in your life, it drains you away.
This was the reason why even if I was so sad Benni left Schalke, I was happy to see him could still pursue his passion in Juventus and then Lokomotiv Moscow. And when in the end he chose to retire early, I was happy that at least he did it on his own term, that he fill his last years in football with new experiences, new friends, and new memories. Even when sometimes I miss him and want him to come back to football again, I know that he chose what he thought the best for him in his own term, in his own way, and for me that’s enough.
This was also the reason why even if I was sad that I wouldn’t Seb racing again next season, I was happy to know that he already achieved so much, he inspired so many people on and off the track, I was happy to know his legacy will always be celebrated. I know I will miss him, I know that sometimes I will think about how he still has so much left, but I also know that the most important is him feeling relieved, feeling happy, enjoying things that he couldn’t fully enjoy when he was an active driver, and celebrating his family like he always wanted.

Going through benni tag because I miss him, but now I’m sad instead.
