Soooo I read the first chapter of this series, Jinba (literally ‘man-horse’, the word in this fictional world for centaurs), and it’s??? pretty interesting?? It’s set in this fictional war-torn world where centaurs exist, but they mostly keep to themselves, hiding from humans, because the humans try to use them as tools of war.
Iwatora/Matsukaze (he’s called the former initially, but he introduces himself as the latter, so I’m not sure what’s his actual name or why he seems to have two) is a mountain centaur, and he rescues a kid centaur (his son) from a hunting party who’re trying to capture the kid. The hunting party decides Matsukaze seems like a much more impressive capture, and they start going after him, eventually unleashing their ‘secret weapon’–another centaur who’s sided with them named Kohibari.
They eventually succeed in capturing Matsukaze, who’s pissed as fuck and has no intention of being used as a tool by the humans for their petty wars. That evening, though, he’s approached by Kohibari who tells him that he wants to use Matsukaze to escape. Most centaurs who are captured in the wild have their arms amputated (to make them less dangerous), hence why Kohibari has no arms. But they haven’t cut off Matsukaze’s arms yet, so Kohibari wants them to escape together. After much reluctance, especially given that Kohibari is the ‘traitor’ who got Matsukaze captured in the first place (”Would you rather I helped them capture the boy?” Kohibari asks pointedly, lol), Matsukaze eventually agrees.
The second volume of it just came out, so I’m gonna give it a read since it seems interesting!

so YEAH I love horsies and I love fantasy so I’m gonna read this and get back to you! who knows, if it’s REALLY good maybe we’ll scanlate it…though I’m almost positive it won’t be BL of any sort; the author doesn’t have anything else written, but it’s listed as seinen on the bakaupdates page so don’t get your hopes up XD
