Happy Birthday to the voice actor of Spongebob Squarepants, Tom Kenny! The best present I can show you is my brick chalk drawings of everyone in Bikini Bottom! I have struggled to find a good moment for sharing this photo of me with Chef @petegw at the 2022 SA Cheese Festival. It has been a long while when I went there as a child! It was SOOO HOT there in Stellenbosch! I had trusted my luck to carry my pen and notebook with me to the festival for drawing the cows, sheep and goat; but when Jinsong and I went by the braai trailer, I heard a familiar voice and saw a familiar face from @ultimate_braai_master. I went up to it and said, 'I saw you on Ultimate Braai Master?' and he said, 'That's correct.' 'YES, I KNEW IT, I NEVER FORGET A FACE!' He told me that his career is 35 years and has been in Ultimate Braai Master for 5-6 years. That long to be a 'local is lekker' self-brand! We even had things from that trailer: Rump Steak sandwich and Cheesegriller German Gourmet hotdog! Divine! Swipe to the right for the autograph and the message: May the Sauce be with you! #unboxing my #tanjiroukamado figure! Quality is good from the box picture, but was a bit surprised about the colour, closeup with my naked eye. The stand for the figure wasn't a major issue to put up. Anyways, this is what I'll call a prized treasure on my shelf, the thing itself and who brought it to me. Jinsong made a recommendation day to visit @obirestaurant. It is actually around the corner from Vega School, even better! There is more to Japanese cuisine than just sushi. We had miso soup, mixed tempura and noodles! Our drinks were Matcha tea(not Latte, hot water and powder) and chilled Sake(Japanese alcohol). The Sake was little bitter than a cough syrup shot. Mixed tempura was 10 vegetables, 2 line fish and 2 prawns for just 2 of us. My sister should try this! Noodles were large bowls with warm broth. Jinsong had Ramen of the Day; what was available with chashu pork, runny boiled egg and seaweed. I had Tempura Udon; Noodles, prawns and Inari tofu. I adore tofu! The whole place is full of Ancient Japanese: Geta shoe, Samurai doll, Origami and framed Haori. Our waitress was very knowledgeable when she explained to us about Sake, high praise! I definitely lived in some moments of the anime, Demon Slayer. Tanjiro finished 3 bowls of Udon straight, Inosuke chomped on some Tempura and Kyojuro kept saying Umai in every bite, meaning 'tasty' referring to the Japanese soldiers eating before battle. Jinsong and I went on a light ride to Laced Coffee Café for to support our classmate, Wylie Scarbrough. 20 mins from my house and it's situated within a family house, including a custom bridal shop He recommended that we eat a bagel named after his dad, William, nickname 'Billy'. Cream cheese, salmon, tomato, onion and poppy seed bagel! Scrumptious! For sweetness, their Legendary Carrot Cake. The environment says about 'Green Thumbs' and very content to sit in for coffee. Yesterday was #myfirstvalentinedate❤️ with my boyfriend! It started with gifts: He gave me a single rose with a Demon Slayer figurine(we both love the anime, FYI!) Our itinerary started at Two Ocean Aquarium. It was really hot 🥵 in town and needed a refreshment. @royalteasa gave the cool treatment and a celebration point for Jinsong to be accepted in UWC. I must say that the Aquarium has changed some paths for new exhibits like, a neon jellyfish exhibit, a seahorse exhibit and a turtle exhibit. We also learned about the jellyfish life cycle, the Coelacanth fish and identifying sea turtles eggs' gender by temperature. After a stress relieving round in the aquarium, we had 30min round on the Cape Wheel. While waiting for our carriage, Jinsong had a Maths moment with @thandileziwele about the diameter and motor of this wheel as comparison for the one in China. In the Waterfront, we originally wanted to try the new Pink ice drinks in Starbucks, but they went out of stock for the evening. So, we thought of Primi Piatti. Primi Piatti had a Valentine’s 3 course meal for just R700 including pink virgin sparkling champagne. The starter was heart-shaped deep fried prawns. Our main was a red pepper stuffed with cheese and mushroom/a steak fillet with asparagus. The dessert was chocolate moose with cashews and cherry in a glass. Round of applause to our waitress, Bongi, for treating us well and being enthusiastic about us! Before we drove home, we went to Starbucks for just Peppermint Caffè Mocha and Caramel Frappuccino. Team D.J. had a little rough challenge today on #koreancuisine. They made #ttoekbokki, the spicy rice cake! The package here only contained the rice cakes and garlic-chilli paste. They wanted to bring flavour like from the real dish, but it went too much by toppings Garlic-chilli was 5,5/10 spicy in taste and sauce already evaporated within the pan! Today is the official announcement of Team D.J., because they made an elementary Chinese family dinner! Fried Rice with ham, carrots and cucumber; Onion fried lamb and Tomato scrambled egg! The recipes came from Chef J and Sous Chef D had good time learning on the job. The family reacted, 'Wonderful rice! Just like Smoortjie! Best lamb ever tasted! We want to have more of this!' My boyfriend and I went to @koreankitchencpt at Stadium on Main. We wanted to go light from the menu. I was eager about trying Tteokbokki(Chewy rice cakes in chilli sauce) and what to go with it is Kimbap(Large rice rolls with flavorful fillings - mine was Tuna mayo with veg). The dish itself was 6/10 spicy and I survived it - fight the heat with heat. The Kimbap acts as a sandwich for dipping in the sauce. Jinsong had a Kimchi fried rice bowl - Kimchi is spicy, pickled cabbage; cut and cooked along with rice and it's topped off with a fried egg. The place is surrounded by a cherry blossom tree and BTS posters. Their fridge contains beer and Korean alcohol called Soju. Thank you so much for this small, but happy atmosphere in Stadium on Main.
