rhiannongreen:
Alright. I’m Rhiannon.
I’m Devyn. It’s nice to meet you, surprisingly.
rhiannongreen:
Well, thank you. You’re as pretty as your voice made me think you’d be. And why do you think you’re being awkward?
Thank you, too. I don’t know. Forget I said anything.
peter-cooper:
Not if I pay her well, right? A good allowance?
We’ll keep it between us, just in case.
peter-cooper:
A very small cook. I gotta start training up Gracie.
That’s definitely not child labor.
peter-cooper:
We all get it, don’t worry. If you want great tasting food, sometimes there’s a wait. That’s just how it is. Although, I guess I could use another cook in the kitchen.
Are you sure you can even fit anymore people back there?
peter-cooper:
I have plenty of customers in, she just means that the journey of the food from kitchen to table is way too slow. Food service.
Ohhhh, my bad. End of the workday brain, you know how it is. I’m not sure how to solve that problem, aside from hiring new employees, but I’d feel bad for the old ones.
rhiannongreen:
I hadn’t even gotten that far in my thought process, wow. Well, it’s nice to know I’m not awkward looking, in that case.
No, definitely not. You’re very pretty... and, wow, I’m being really awkward, now, speaking of awkward.
peter-cooper:
I told you, she’s ruthless. Yeah, she’ll have expensive taste just like her mother, no doubt. Why would that solve my problem?
You’re going to be insolvent pretty soon if you aren’t careful, Coop. ‘Cause it’ll bring in the customers and Gracie will quit her yapping. Run a two-for-one special on burgers or something.
rhiannongreen:
I know, which is weird, even though it makes sense. It’s like the one part of yourself you’ll never get to know, not truly. I appreciate that, even though you haven’t heard me say anything yet.
And the one part of you everyone else knows. Huh, it is weird. Yeah, but I’m sure it can’t be too bad. It’s usually the awkward looking people who come with awkward sounding voices.
peter-cooper:
Honestly, it’s not so much me but it’s the way I’m running my business. She likes helping me out on weekends after her dance class, you know, handing out napkins and straws to her little heart’s delight. Anyway, lately she’s been all “Daddy, service is too slow! Speed it up!” Calling me out in front of my customers!
Damn, that’s ice cold. Girl just wants to make sure you’re making enough money for her to spend when she’s a teenager, right? I know what’ll solve the problem: you should take out an ad on the local radio.
peter-cooper:
You kidding? The only one who compliments me anymore is Gracie. And even she’s started giving me crap lately.
Oh, noooo, she’s too young for that! What’s the worst she’s said?
rhiannongreen:
Got it. And that’s a legitimate concern. I’m always confused when I hear the way I sound on videos or my friends’ voicemails. I can hardly recognize my own voice.
Well, that’s because nobody actually knows what their real voice sounds like. You can figure it out, but I don’t think you’ll ever know exactly. I’m sure your voice isn’t anything to be embarrassed about, though.
rhiannongreen:
You guys are great. No, not painful at all. Did someone tell you that?
Thank you. No, I was just never sure what I sounded like on air.
peter-cooper:
See: I am amazing.
I’ll leave the ego-stroking to Kelsey. Though, knowing her, she won’t give you much of it, either.
peter-cooper:
Oh, I’m plenty polite but I know how amazing and selfless I am thanks to me serving awesome food to the lovely people of Nashville all day everyday.
I am actually really grateful for your grits. I’ve never found as good of grits anywhere else.
peter-cooper:
Says who?
Says me. And polite people, probably.
rhiannongreen:
Really? That’s you?? I’ve listened to your show a few times when I got stuck in traffic. I love your voice!
The morning show, yep! It’s me and my friend, Boyd. Thank you. I’m glad it’s not painful to listen to.
