castle on the hill

“it isn’t much,” alex said sheepishly as he presented his castle to the rest of the town who turned out for the contest. most of them didn’t know what they were supposed to be looking at. the best description, though, was probably “lumps.” a few of them took more identifiable shapes, like rectangles and pyramids, but overall they were nothing more than a cluster of lumps.

“it’s stardew valley,” he explained, pointing out different landmarks as he spoke. “that’s supposed to be the forest, and that’s the path into town. the general store. ben’s office. finley’s house.” his voice trailed off. he was too bashful to continue.

when he looked back up at the crowd, he wore that same sheepish smile and perhaps the faintest trace of a flush across his cheeks? he wasn’t much for attention, and his nerves struck harder with something like this. the valley meant so much to him and everyone here, and he could only hope he did it justice.

“are you serious right now?” athena asked as she followed after the person leading her through the streets of stardew valley at what felt like full speed, unsure of if she should be laughing or crying. “what are we doing? where are we even going?”

 ——- “So…..it`s necessary for me to pet…every cow?” 

he`d really only been there a few weeks at this point. cassius couldn`t help but feel awful for not introducing himself to the animals. he`d never spent any time around farm animals or really anything involving the country. “No one told me that…Are they mad that I`ve waited so long?” He thought for just a minute, pausing before realizing he never introduced himself to this person. “Oh- I`m Cassius Flynn, I`m the new nurse to work at the clinic.” He flashed a friendly smile, “I guess I didn`t introduce myself to the animals or my own neighbors.”

the beach clean-up lined up perfectly with their class’s ocean life unit. alex led his class of mixed emotions to the shore to help with the efforts; some students begged to help with the environmental efforts while others likely wouldn’t stop complaining about the sun for the next decade. once the students paired up, alex stood back to make sure they all got busy and stayed safe from the water, amused by the shenanigans he saw brewing in his students’ midst.

when he heard about the beach clean-up efforts, sage made his way to the little coast tucked away south of town. what else was there to do? not much of an initiater, he felt lost upon arrival and stood with his hands in his pockets surveying the scene. he had neither equipment nor clue what to do, so he turned to the nearest person for help. “hey,” he greeted them. “what am i supposed to do here?”
