Once upon a time there were a monkey, living in the outer space, and a boy, living on the earth. The monkey had a dream, the boy had a dream too. They both wanted to play electro music, and they wanted to do it in a completely different way. After a few intergalactic chats they decided to meet, but the monkey needed a place to stay while being on earth. So the boy offered his head…and the story began. They became Dgtlmonkey and started playing an electro-dance music never heard before, with different and totally unexpected contaminations. “The land of dirty beats and bananas”, his first album produced by Fu.Nch in 2010, shocked the club audience. This work obtained a lot of good reviews by specialized websites and major magazines like Raveline and is still supported by many Djs all around the world. Then several live shows melted and pleasured together the audience from different musical background in a compact dance-room. Dgtlmonkey worked on official remixes for Stereoliez, Le Rose, Eater, Ryko the Drummaker, Arsenic Cherry, DSynth and Glitterball, and his album “The land of dirty beats and bananas” has been remixed by some of the best electro and techno italian producers. 2012 is the year of Dgtlmonkey: the new album is ready, and it’s going to be out on spring and now he is the new resident dj of the monthly electro party at Click club - Kunsthaus 54 in Berlin. We don’t know what him and his monkey are going to bring us, but one thing is sure: the monkey is still in his head and they’re going to surprise their public and to re-write club music rules… once again.

Are U ready? Are U really ready?
DGTLMonkey together with the best electro dance italian scene gave birth to “Da Monkey club remixed”, same name, same sounds but remixed and smashed by lots of interesting names.
“Are U ready?”, the new DGTL Monkey single, gives the first shot in the compilation: the vocoder is asking you if you are really ready, and suddenly you will be overwhelmed by distorsions in an electro rock progression mixed with seventies samples that will “teleport” you to the legendary Studio 54; a track that will make you dive in the Seventies wearing the coolest bell-bottoms.
First (virtual) stop New York, next stop Berlin, with Frank Charlie performing “Like a machine” with a refined deep touch, while Elpies is presenting a passionate techno version of Mr.Oizo: two tracks that you could listen in a crazy night at the Barghain.
If you miss DVN(I) old style, don’t worry ‘cause there’s Randy Marsh with “Rise my people”: french touch and synth eighties sonorities matching with Hanin Elias voice (ex ATR).
Rycott’s remix “Feeling good or not” is a puzzle of glitch and broken rhythm: sicilian producer plays “Preso bene” with the same eclecticism as the Danish Trentemoller experimentations.
And now the three best dancefloor tracks that every respectable dj must spin: cool electro “Disfunction” version, by belgian duo N.K.V.D. winner
of the Disfunktion Remix Contest; the blasting cocktail prepared by Il Leprotto who mashed up electro, dubstep, techno serving a super alcoholic “Jesus on the cube” (drink responsibly); the astonishing “Trance-ition” by Calavera, a new project by El Puerco, which grabs you with percussive rhythm and pounding speakers.
Going back home Rustblade / Fu. Nch. with Aux Jack who gaves us a special “Commit your sins”, full of organs, wobbles and old-school dance
sonorities.
The idyllic remix “Sunshine” is an acid Bangladesh trip reportage: the lonely Bedroom Boy greets the Monkey Club with a fairy-like ending.
To be continued....
After one year of Disfunktion Live we wanna release this live album for free to thanks all the friends and the staff who helped us during this year and all the people who have supported us, and who danced, jumped and sweated with us. Thank you!

When did you start with electronic Music and what´s behind your name DGTLMONKEY?
I’ve always had a passion for electronic music, even as a kid, but I’ve always played a completely different type of music – with Italian underground bands – right up until a few years ago, when I decided to finally produce some of my own.
The name ‘Dgtlmonkey’ has various meanings, from my affection towards digital music production to the general stance us humans make while in front of a computer, but the legend says that it all began with a monkey that came from space… and I like to that this may be true.
You´ve just finished your Studio Album. Is there still time for other Projects or Remixes? What´s coming next?
The next product that about to launch is called ‘DISFUNKTION LIVE’, a live show with two close friends – Giulio on bass and Nick on the drums. We’ve basically rearranged the tracks from the new album and some from the old one, and created a show with a huge sound impact that mixes the best from dance to rock and funky. Apart from this, I’m working towards a few remixes of tracks from emerging Italian sounds – something that I’ll continually and enthusiastically support.
Was there something or anyone who has been standing at your side for producing the Album?
Yeah, thanks to Rustblade, my production label… I was really lucky and honoured to work with Hanin Elias, founder and ex-vocalist of ‘Atari Teenage Riot”. The track “Rise my people" came to life through this collaboration, in what is probably one of the most engaging tracks on the album – Hanin wrote the lyrics for the song. Not only this, but the final mastering of the track was carried out by Justin Bennett, drummer with Skinny Puppy, Banthier and Mylife w/ the thrill kilt kult.
How would you describe your Sound and where you have to get your inspirations?
If I’m being honest, I really don’t want to ‘label’ my music as one genre in particular, i prefer to experiment and contaminate various influences and just see what happens. I’m inspired by so many music types, from a simple melody that spins my head or even just a mood that I’m in on a daily basis. I truly believe that from the moment you have passion for something, inspiration just comes automatically.
What´s your favourite Studio Weapon?
My 'secret’ weapon is “Propellerhead” - Reason - Most people find it hard to use, but i don’t think there is other software available that so natural and so close to the instruments themselves. I’ve been using it for years and honestly i don’t know what I’d do without it.
Do you see yourself more as a Producer or more as an Artist?
I see myself more as an artist – but i don’t create music which the solely intended towards getting people to dance. I really only produce for myself, because I need to express something , and this seems to be most natural way I can do it… and if there is a collateral effect, where I can get people dancing and jumping around on the dance floor, then all the better!!!
Where do you see yourself and your music in a few years?
I haven’t set any real targets, because I’m living this experience on day by day basis, based on the opportunities that present themselves. My hopes are to play all over as much as possible, so that more and more people can learn and appreciate my music.
