I feel like we don't talk enough about the books, we all know of the famous "Knox Incedent" but the book has other interesting, and somewhat crazy, stuff they cut that I want to talk about
Todd and Neil have a scene where they practice Neil's lines and Neil invites Todd to the midsummer nights dream rehearsal by saying there is a cute girl that Todd would like and Todd turns him down but when Neil asks if Todd would attend for him he says yes (Very subtle Nancy Kleinbaum, verrrry subtly)
In the scene where Todd throws desk set in the movie, instead talks about his parents and apperantly his parents call him 589 because that is the amount of money the chemicals that make up the human body would cost (This is the single most devastating thing I have read and I know why they didn't add this to the movie but damn)
Unlike in the movie where Charlie doesn't talk much about himself, in the book Charlie does random stuff because he doesn't know what to do with his life and envious of knox and niel because they know what they want to do (Out of all the boys Charlie's motives where hardest to understand in the movie having context for his actions was nice)
Charlie tries to have sex with one of the girls he brought to the cave but when they are alone the girl want him to read poetry to her instead and girl moans in the corner of the cave while Charlie spouts out random lines and this goes on for hours (I have no idea what they where thinking when they added this scene)
Ginny, instead of kissing neil, goes to the dead poets cave with Charlie (In the book Todd and Neil seem to be more queercoded than the movie and this seems to be a consequence of that)
The night where Neil kills himself boys, Chris, Ginny and Keating go into the cave one last time and Todd reads a poem for the first time. Every paragraph the pov jumps from the dead poets cave to Perry's house and that for some reason was made me a lot more emotional than in the movie.
Keating in general is a lot more crazy but my favorite examples are in one lesson he teaches the kids about how to cheat at their essays (apparently by making up Asian philosophers) and he does a pop quiz where he put increasingly nude photos of random woman on the board to distract the kids, he doesn't even give a reasoning about why he is doing this other than finding it entertaining

when the byers lived with the wheelers, they were 100% an open bathroom household. if the door wasn't locked, knocking was unheard of. mike could literally be taking a bath and jonathan would barge in, dragging the phone chord in from the other room, and casually say "hey, i'm ordering food. want anything?" and mike would yank the shower curtain open, stick his head out, and say "yeah, privacy."
