Haunting the narrative means that the character’s absence heavily impacts the plot. They’re not present when their influence is most strongly felt, whether they’re alive or dead!

PROPAGANDA FOR AYVA FERIN

Ayva's death literally sets like three different character's arcs in motion. Her sister, Jay Ferin, joined the riptide pirates in the first place because she thought it would get her closer to finding out what happened to her, without her death, Jay would have never been in the story at all.

Another character, Lizzie, used to be her girlfriend and has dedicated her life to starting a war with the navy in order to avenge them, and its implied that Ayva's father, Jayson, despite sucking big time, threw himself even further into his work as a vice admiral.

Despite never appearing outside of memories, despite never saying a single word, Ayva's absence is felt throughout every aspect of these characters, the story would not exist as we know it if Ayva was still alive, she is haunting the narrative and shes also a lesbian, a trans lesbian, you should vote for her just for that.

We’ll be setting up your favorite (and least favorite) characters to fistfight against each other! Strong and weak characters alike, fighting it out! (Submissions are not open yet)

This will be round robin, which means every single character that makes it in will go against each other character. Even if they lost in round 1! So this is gonna last a bit.

Due to the previous bullet point, I’m going to be accepting 100 characters at most. That’s the limit of my comfort zone.

Don’t be an asshole. This is for fun. I’m dining this for fun in the hopes that you are also having fun. I’ve been lucky that in my last tournament, everyone was pretty chill. In the end, this is just a silly poll tournament on the internet made for entertainment.

Feel free to send an ask to see how many submissions your character has gotten (once I open submissions) or to send pre-tournament propaganda to convince others to submit that character or to to just ask a question in general

before you submit a character, let’s establish some other things you should know:

Obligatory reminder not to submit HP or DSMP characters.

Weak-ass characters encouraged because it would be funny, although it won’t be exclusive to them

Real people are allowed if my friends and I think it’s funny

Before you submit a real person, I recommend sending an ask so you can know if they are approved and so other people can submit them if they so choose.

Fictional characters need three submissions to get in, real (approved) people need six.

If the character you submit has a signature weapon, sadly, that weapon won’t be included. Because we’re having these characters fistfight exclusively.

Characters submitted can’t have super-strength. If a professional weight-lifter irl can’t do what the character you plan on submitting can, that’s a sign that your character probably won’t get in.

Characters don’t have to just win by strength. They can also win if you think that their strategy is better than an opponent’s and that they can outsmart them, then they can definitely beat them that way. Have fun imagining these characters beat each other up.

Don’t submit a character multiple times. Feel free to submit as many characters as you want besides that.

Hello hello everyone! Welcome to the fake stories poll

has this been done? I don't know!

So do you know when you are watching a show, playing a game, reading a book, ect and one of the characters in it bring up a different, fictional book, show, ect. That exists in their universe? Well this tournament is for that sort of thing. Those fake stories that exit within other stories.

Does that make sense? I hope so hehe.

I don't know how popular this sort of thing will be. But I figure there is no harm in trying this yeah?

So basic rules:

I have the right to refuse submissions that make me uncomfortable.

No things like Harry Potter (I don't know if Harry potter has fictional stories in it, but just in case)

If it is something that was later turned into a real story, like, maybe in a spin-off it, is still allowed as long as it originally was a fake story in a different story.

Im using the world story here just because its easier. If there is something like a made up video game with no plot in it that you think is cool, thats still ok.

In order to submit:

Submit things though Asks/Dms.

-When you submit tell me the name of the fake story (If it doesn't have a name that's ok)

-Tell me the name of the show.game,ect the story was found in.

-Then of course you can tell me about the story, if there even is anything that we know about said story.

I feel as if this tournament must exist somewhere, but I looked for two hours and couldn't find it. So I've decided to be the change I want to see in the world and subject all of you to it.

Do you have a red-hot take that you know most people wouldn't agree with, but are still absolutely willing to fight for it? This is the place where it belongs. Let's pit them against each other in a fight for validation!

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Your take can be about literally anything at all, as long as you feel the vast majority of people would disagree. Even though you're right. And they're just afraid to admit it.

Basically, if it's a hill you're willing die on - even if you have to do it alone - then it belongs right here.

Oh, and it kinda goes without saying, but terfs and bigots stay away.

Background characters with no dialogue always wind up being my favourites. I feel seen. It feels wonderful.

I've always been a fan of characters I can basically make up anything about, no worries about being ooc, they can become whatever you want them to, its glorious.

Do they have to be completely silent or are we allowed to submit characters who speak when they're in the story, they're just in the story twice?

Not really sure what you mean by this but if they have an independent dialogue line in canon then they are disqualified, thems the rules sorry

What about characters who have said a line along with other people? (like, a whole classroom having a speech bubble saying "what?!", but otherwise that character doesn't really have any unique or individual dialogue lines)

Since theres not really a way to glean a personality from these lines as they're part of a group, I'd say they still count
