Sanada is so charming, I'm jealous of you!" The vivacious girl sighed dramatically as several of the surrounding females agreed with her statement. It seemed like an often occurrence that your friends would swoon over the popular male, so by the time you were quite used to it. Rolling your eyes at their display, you shut your locker and faced them with a small smile. You didn't need them to tell you how lucky you were, because you were already well aware of the fact. The times you had spent with Sanada had been some of the best. It seemed each day you would fall harder for him, the love you felt for him never ceasing to exist."Sorry, but I'm going to have to steal ______ away for a minute."You'd recognize that smooth voice anywhere. By the looks on your friends' faces, you weren't wrong in your guess either. A sudden weight fell upon your shoulder, causing you to turn your face to be greeted with a grinning Sanada, whom currently had his elbow resting on you. Sending you a quick wink, he took you by the hand only to begin walking in the opposite direction of your classroom."Shunpei!" You attempted to chastise, though you couldn't help the small smile that creeped onto your lips. "You're going to make me late for class.""It'll only be a minute," he assured. "I have to show you something." You were tempted to object again once he began to lead you to the stairway, heading towards the roof, but decided to let him do as he pleased, since you were curious about what he had planned. As the two of you made it to the roof, you walked over to the railing as Sanada trailed behind rather slowly."Well," you said as you looked out at the school's courtyard, leaning forward against the rail. "Just what is it you wanted to show me?"First class was about to begin, and most of the other students on campus were most likely already situated in their designated classrooms. Just as you were about to suggest heading back to class, two arms snaked past your sides, caging you in against the railing as Sanada rested his chin on your shoulder. "You didn't really think I'd forget, did you?""What are you talking about, Shunpei?" You asked as you turned your face, brows scrunched in confusion at his words. As far as you were aware, it wasn't any holiday nor was it anyone's birthday."You're not telling me you forgot, are you, ______?" His voice had a hint of teasing to it. With a slight huff, you turned around to face him directly."Be serious."Sanada chuckled lightly before stepping back and putting his hands up in a defensive manner. "Alright," he said as he let his hands drop, one making its way into his pocket as he seemed to be fishing around for something in it. "Now, turn around."Doing as he said, albeit slightly begrudgingly, you crossed your arms over your chest. "I'm waiting."Hearing his chuckle, you nearly turned back around, but a cold feeling slinking its way around your neck stopped the words from emerging. "Whaâ?" It only took moments for the bemusement to subside. Reaching your hand up, you pulled away a newly placed necklace from your neck to gaze at it in surprise. The sterling heart pendant seemed to sparkle in the sun as you admired the dazzling piece of jewelry. A snigger brought you out of your daze. Turning around to once again face your boyfriend, all you could ask was, "Why?"The genuine smile that adorned his features worked in making your heart skip a beat, perhaps even several. "It's been a year now. I thought I might get you something."Mentally bashing yourself for forgetting the date, you sighed and returned his smile. "I completely forgot. Thank you, Shunpei. It's amazing." Languidly wrapping your arms around his torso, Sanada was quick to return the embrace, planting a chaste kiss on your forehead."You deserve it for putting up with me for a year," he joked, giving you a squeeze.The moment was peaceful as the both of you remained entwined in one another's arms. Your friends were right, you were lucky to have Sanada. Though they probably didn't realize the extent of just how fortunate you were."I won't forget next year," you promised as you looked into his umber eyes with a determined smile."Is that a promise to deal with me for another year?""At least one more," you teased, giving him a delicate kiss on the lips, causing his lips to tug upwards slightly more than they had been previously."I appreciate it." Hugging you tighter against his body, Sanada installed a passionate kiss against your lips, working in turning your bones to jelly and sending butterflies soaring in your stomach. Once he pulled back, leaving you breathless and wanting his lips against yours once more, he smirked and gave you a swift peck on the tip of your nose. "I love you, ______."
