Light and dark were colliding to form something beautiful. Of course, only momentarily, though surely it would be a breath of relief regarding the current situation. Levi crossed his arms against his scrubs, gazing out at the twilit sky. “Are you afraid?”

Ginny nodded and took another drag, “If I have to burn from the inside out, so be it.” She looked at Levi, offering him a puff, “In order to be afraid you have to have something to lose. I’m anxious maybe, worried, but not afraid.”

“That sounds like the words of a coward to me…” The blonde scoffed “One who has decided to throw in the towel and give up. To negotiate? Well, both sides are far past that, to think otherwise is so naive…” she said in her dark tone.

“Or the words of someone who knows what happens when too many people fight for nothing, and destroy the things they love in the process,” She replied, her voice remaining level, “It’s a fine line between fighting for a cause and slaughtering senselessly,” She looked at her shoes, and kicked at the ground absentmindedly, before looking back at her, “What do you want from all of this? What are you fighting for?”

“NOT dying fast enough, that’s what…” Erica said simply, her own cigarette in her mouth. The blonde was excited, itching for the day that Liberty came before them and she got to kill her. She could then be like Elora, she too could be revered like the others. 

Ginny rolled her eyes before taking another puff and looking at the woman, “What are we even fighting for? Other than the innocent people we all just seem to keep hurting with our pointless war. I bet if we all just sat down and talked it out, we would save more lives on all sides.”

Ginny knew politics were ugly. That’s all all of this boiled down to, politics and the people who get destroyed trying to survive the clashing forces. She couldn’t help but feel jittery about the entire situation. It felt like everyone was on the edge of a cliff with a strong wind pushing them closer and closer to the endless fall of nothing bellow. She lit up another cigarette and sucked in a deep breath, exhaling the smoke upwards, “What the fuck are we doing?” She sighed, her heart heavy and her voice soft.

The fight had taken a massive toll on Evan. But he had won. That was what mattered, even if it felt like his body was about to give out at any second. He felt the warm blood trickle down his cheek as he slumped on the floor, feeling too weak and exhausted to move to his room to metaphorically lick his wounds. The sounds of footsteps only became vaguely loud when they got close and stopped in front of him. “M'fine…” He mumbled, almost slurring his words. “Leave me.”

“Well in order to leave you anywhere I would have to have you in the first place, now wouldn’t I?” Ginny smiled, looking down at the man on the floor, “That is also really not what fine looks like, and you might want to go get some of that checked out, fine or not.” One good thing about diamond skin was injuries being hard to come by, as hard as the fight had been, Ginny just overall felt thoroughly exhausted

“Oh yes…About that coffee” she chuckled, before looking down at herself, knowing her kimono left nothing to the imagination “My apologies, maybe I should put clothes on?”

Ginny looked her up and down, “If you’d like. Won’t see me complaining either way,” She winked and laughed, “I’ll go start the brew.”

The metal woman sighed and shook her head “It’s all been so fast” she admitted, then looking to Ginella “I suppose that time shall tell on that front, but I’m cautiously optimistic” she sighed, but she felt somewhat optimistic, even if she was heading off world as soon as she was allowed to.

Ginny shrugged, “Well when you know you know, ya know?” She winked, “Now about that coffee, care to join me?”

“Of course I’m scared, I’ve never been in love before and there is everything special about her, I want her to see everything I’ve seen, on the planet X-31 DELTA I want to propose to her during the rising of it’s three suns. I want her to last that long with me, but I’m also scared for her.” she sighed. “You haven’t seen what I do Off World then, G.”

Ginny beamed from ear to ear now, looking at how well her birdish friend had done for herself. Finally finding someone who genuinely loved her how she deserved to be loved, “When two people love each other like that, things work themselves out.”

“I can agree with you, but I also have to be logical…I love her too much to see her harmed” she then paused realizing she’d told the other she loved Deryn. “It’s more than sex with her…” she then said slowly. “She makes me feel human, I just….I want to be more for her than the war machine I am up there. I kind of don’t want her to see it in truth”

Ginny smiled, “You’re scared you’ll lose her, logical. Not wanting to lose people is a natural human reaction.” She nodded, “We’ve all done terrible things for the greater good. And I think you’re not as bad as you think you are.”

“Well, I couldn’t help it….She’s about the one good thing about Earth at the moment, especially through all this bullshit that’s happening” she sighed, before smiling at the other “Can I level with you, G? I’m actually scared of her getting too attached to me, as when all this is done, I’m going back up there….IT’s expected of me, and I don’t think she can come along for the full ride…” she stammered quietly.

“Have you told her about that? Because I’m pretty sure she’s dead set on following you to the end of the universe. Deryn doesn’t like people. She lives in an isolated place on and isolated island with a dozen or so other people, and has all her life. She doesn’t connect with people, when I used to go visit she would spend more time as a bird than a woman. Her smile was never really real, and I don’t think I heard her laugh once. Now she’s always got that smile in her eyes, she’s happy, finally. She’s walking around, not flying through the rafters. She’s radiant. What makes you think anyone will be able to take you away from her?” Ginny smiled, “I for one don’t think the Universe Boss or whatever themself will be able to keep her from going with you or keeping you here with us...with her.”

“I suppose I cannot, morning coffee if important” she said as she tightened her kimono, even if her metal body made the material fall so that nothing at all was left to the imagination, especially with her breasts “Well, I’m debating breakfast even though I lack most taste buds now these days with well, this” she gestured to herself “And I needed to do something whilst I left Deryn to get ready and shower if she so pleased to….”

“Right, You and The Bird were cozy at the ball, thought it was more than just the pair of you wall flowering,” She smiled warmly, “It’s good she has someone, she’s always been the fly solo type. So have you from what I’ve heard.” She smiled, “Two peas finally finding a pod.”

Bridget lifted the girl again to look at her, giving a huff of anger at how she looked- exactly the same. “What fun is this?” she growled, seeing no damage even if the other was in pain.

Ginny tried to laugh but it ended up sounding like a wheeze, “Giving up yet? You won’t be able to break me.” She smiled, “Ever tried to crush a diamond?”

The blonde snarled at Ginella and held her up in the air so she could look at her face “I am almost tempted to see just how diamond like you are” she said in her strong Russian accent before gripping the woman hard and slamming her down into the same spot again, something that would have easily crushed a normal civilian. 

Ginella let out a groan of, “Ahh-” as she was slammed again, “You wouldn’t be the first,” she managed to grunt out, “Won’t be the last.” She had to figure something out, some weak spot she could get at.

Bridget slammed the Hero she had been holding down so hard that she cracked the sidewalk with their body, the giant woman was in the zone, she was ready to maim and crush. “Had enough?” she growled, standing over the other and glaring down at them, dragging them up by their hair, casting a large shadow with how tall she was “Because I’m more than happy to continue.”

Her skin may have been impenetrable, but she still could feel the pain of being smashed to the ground, the wind being knocked from her lungs. She scrunched her face, as her hair was pulled, “Ah- Harder.” She sneered. She was minuscule compared to the large woman, already short normally.

The woman looked a little perplexed at Ginella, setting down the magazine she had been leafing through “Ginny, what’s wrong with you that you’re getting so philosophical this early?” she asked, raising one of her sculpted eyebrows at the younger woman.

“I haven’t had my coffee yet, can you blame me?” She sighed, “What are you doing in here?”

“You can stop staring now” Eleanor warned in her low tone, Mercury colored eyes finding the person opposite her, there was no inch left of the woman that was skin, she was all metal, a metal that was formed to her like a new shiny, breathable skin. She’d been like this for almost two years and yet everyday was still a new battle for her. “Or do I have to make you? I’m never in a good mood this early in the morning” she then clicked her tongue, what had happened on the radio was playing greatly on her mind. She hadn’t expected to be called back home to New York so soon.

Ginny sighed, “Sorry, I just... I’ve never seen someone who has skin that looks like mine feels. At least I don’t glitter like a monster in some tween romance novel that makes is pre-teen readers grow up and want to bleach their brains until they can’t remember the couple had a healthy relationship.”
