"Some people have a gift of reaching right into your soul and finding the hole and making it bigger ..."
ooc: if anyone wants julius, give a shout out b/c i'd like to start some more rps on him!! :-))
Something Good Can Work! [Not] - [Chase/Julius]
Chase narrowed his eyes at the other man, judgment plain on his features. He couldn’t figure out exactly what Julius was getting at in asking, but it was apparent that the other man was ruffled about it in some way. He was snapping back with sarcasm that went in one ear and out the other, and Chase’s attention drifted away across the bar with it.
Honestly, were they twelve?
"I must have your email blocked," he replied with a low huff of annoyance, eyes remaining away and off at some point in the ceiling. Yes, they were twelve. His eyes only went back to Julius’ face as the man continued, one eye squinting with continued judgment on the other man’s choice of words.
He heaves a deep sigh, eyes closing for a second as if collecting himself before replying with a lift of his chin and a steady glare.
"You already know I exist, Julius. Don’t go expecting me to share more with you," he pauses to shake his head slightly, pushing himself from the counter to set his hands to his hips instead as he looks down over the vividly hued man. "And if you think you’re gonna upset me by saying she settled for me, you’re barking up the wrong tree, asshole. I’m damn good with her and I know I make her happy.”
"Mm ... Pity, you need to keep up on the gossip somehow but then again ..." Ruby red eyes drift from his french tips and back onto the chef as if the conversation was something of leisure between the two, Julius's tone suggesting as much. "Word does get around fast in small towns like these, but I'm sure you already know that~♥"
Lazily pointing a finger at the chef, "now, now-- there's no need for name-calling, my dear. I'm just pointing out what I have come to believe is the truth."
Julius didn't have anything against the man, in fact, maybe in another life they could've shared a mutual title of being friends with one another. However with the addition of Candace into the mix an unnatural sort of jealousy bubbled within that he masked with a sort of sharp venom towards Chase.
Stepping down from the bar stool, the jeweler stretched his arms in front of him for a moment before settling one hand on his hip and staying in place. "We both have different viewpoints and it's quite obvious there's no talking you out of your opinion seeing that you seem so bent up on holding it dear to you, but ..."
He gathered his phone and wallet, taking his sweet, sweet time and letting the ominous "but" hang in the air between the two.
Finally, "In the end I'm sure you know that their is an undertone of truth to my words."
"Do I attract you? Do I repulse you with my queasy smile? Am I too dirty? Am I too flirty? Do I like what you like?”
Something Good Can Work! [Not] - [Chase/Julius]
"Yeah, I can blame you," Chase replied coolly, narrowing his eyes slightly at the flourish of the other man. Sincerely, sincerely bizarre - he usually avoided talking to Julius at all costs. The other man was nothing he was interested in befriending, despite their mutual penchant for not putting up with bullshit. Maybe that was part of it, though - too much aggression made Chase uncomfortable, and Julius’ snide remarks were never welcome.
Chase huffed his annoyance and turned back to the boiling pot he’d just covered, setting the spoon down and glancing to the measuring cup of broth he’d set aside. Already getting in the way of his work.
The cook turned to settle himself back against the counter, crossing his arms with a more tired expression as he watched Julius clean a stool and settle himself in. Nonchalantly, of course, and Chase watched with growing annoyance as he waited for the purpose of the visit to be exposed.
When her name came up on his lips, Chase hardened his expression. It wasn’t that they were dating, it wasn’t even that her name was said. Usually that was a very pleasant thought to discuss, but— why was it being said with so much show beforehand? And there was something off about the other man’s expression, his voice. It disgusted Chase down to his core.
"Ah… ha," Chase started, settling his hands instead against the counter, exchanging his blocking wall of disinterest for a less passive stance, despite his voice remaining in a calm monotone. "It’s the first time anyone’s said it was a surprise, but I don’t see how it’s any of your business. Why do you care, anyways? Is everyone in town required to send you a memo when they start dating now?"
Ugh.
This man was certainly a piece of work in terms of both his appearance and personality but the jeweler would settle on picking apart his personality with careful precision-- in his head, of course. There was no need to bring to light the many faults the chef possessed seeing that he had enough on his plate to deal with the whole Candace ordeal.
((we can start a new one with cam and candace if you like! as it gets further from the dance tho its harder to keep candace in that space. maybe julius too?))
ooc: no worries, no worries!! and sure, i'd like that :-) I SENT YOU a message on skype if ur avaliable and want to kinda plan stuff out in regards to both peeps!! <3
I take it this is from his ‘mean girl’ days.
I'm Having a "Me" Party~!
[Sitting on his bed, blowing on a spoonful of curried pumpkin soup with eyes glued to the screen of his laptop as he starts the next episode of season two of "Orange Is The New Black." Pops the spoonful of soup into his mouth.] Mm~! [A knock at his door interrupts his thoughts on Piper's choice of hairstyle, pausing the show with a huff and looking to the door.] What is it, Mira--? I'm busy!
[Listens to her tell him he should be outside enjoying the festival.] Um, I can look at the moon any day and I'm certainly not going outside just to sit around and stare at a glowing rock. [Hears her insist it's not healthy to binge watch television shows all night. Sighing dramatically :] Here-- [Google searches images of "stupid glowing rock in the sky" A.K.A "the moon" when nothing comes up for the first search.] I'm looking at it from my laptop.
Ohmygoooooooosh, woooooooooooooow, so coooooooooooool-- Can I watch my show now? Please?
[Listens to Mira tell him she doesn't need his sass and returns to her own room. Rolling his eyes, eyeing his nail polish to see what color he should paint them after the show. Maroon? Maybe a cobalt blue?]
The Fuck You Mean You're Taken? - [Julius & Candace]
[She’s not sure which is worse - his sneer, or his laughter. Fire and ice. Her throat tightens up painfully, heat rising in her face, pricking at the corners of her eyes. He was right, though. How could she not know something so simple? How could she be such an enormous failure in one of the simplest ways one could possibly fail in a relationship? It’s mortifying. Simply mortifying.]
[Her vision bubbles blurringly with the weight of withheld tears - blinking rapidly, willing them away. Tears don’t work like that, though— and when he calls it sad, sad of all things— they roll down her cheeks with a strangled sob, thick and hot. She looks away. Can’t meet his eyes, can’t even begin to try.]
I—
[She takes another step back, dislodging the point of contact between his finger and her shoulder. Nearly trips over one of the boxes she’d stacked in the room, sobbing again in panic at the shock of the cardboard making contact with the back of her shoe. Shakes her head fervently, the gesture sending an enormous and resounding “NO” to the world and everything in it— before retreating further into the house, disappearing past the kitchen and toward her bedroom.]
[The sound of her door slamming a moment later muffles her sobbing.]
Why won't you look at me when I'm talking to you? [He blinked, once, twice, three times. Were those ... Tears? Did he make her cry, honestly? The man huffed with overall annoyance, throwing his hands in the hair before letting them slap to his side.] Now I'm the bad guy, great--! [He's about to go on further about how her unnecessary her tears are given the fact he was just being honest like any good friend. But that's before the first sob emits from her.]
!!! [Eyes widen dramatically as she steps backwards only to make contact with a cardboard box of new merchandise. Julius reaches out to help her but before he can, something stops him. Be it the very obvious body language that she didn't want to hear anything else from him or something that was inching it's way into the piece of coal he called his heart. What was that? Guilt? Ew, he felt uncomfortable and anything other then happiness would not be allowed so he quickly filed the emotion on 'things he should probably care about but doesn't' to look at later. Not that he ever would but still.]
H-Hey, Candace, you can't just run away from all your issues like that! [But she did, leaving him to the sound of her muffled sobs and an unattended store.]
... [He looked around for a piece of scrap paper and a pen before jotting down his number and a small note of:] Talk to me when you're ready, I guess. XO, Juli
[And with that he left.]
Something Good Can Work! [Not] - [Chase/Julius]
There was no reason for Chase to look up when the door opened, and today was no exception. His attention was on yet another boiling pot, spooning out broth into a measuring cup. Another typical day, clicking his tongue softly to the rhythm of a thought as he he lifts the cup up to see the measurement and sets it aside.
The shrill greeting wasn’t part of a typical day, though - and he tensed up with a sharp wince as he replaced the lid on the pot. Any other day it would have been some annoying greeting from Maya, maybe, but never this.
Chase turned with a sour expression toward the man, one eye more pressed with distaste as he glanced the vividly colored man over as if struck by a very sudden migraine.
He stood there silently for a few seconds, one eyebrow only raising higher with an indignant lift of his chin at the aggressive friendship suddenly thrust in his face. Dear goddess, what awful thing had he done today to deserve this?
He thumbed the spoon instead, eyes flicking briefly to Kathy - had she put him up to this? - before looking back to the flamboyant man with distrust.
"Why are you trying to be my friend."
Jeez.
He had to hand it to Chase, the man had seen right through his facade-- not that it was all that hard but still, the way he he called the jeweler on his bullshit so fast it nearly knocked the wind out of him, in a theoretical sense, of course.
Pressing a hand to his cheek, the plum-haired male tutted at the ginger "I'm hurt-- wounded even. Can you blame me for wanting to widen my social circle with another addition" he added with a flourish of his arms to indicate such said circle of friends.
There was really no point in keeping up with the act, Julius didn't want to be Chase's friend with just as little desire as he was sure Chase had no felt in regards to being his friend as well. They just seemed to live in the same vicinity as fellow villagers to Harmonica Town-- why change that?
Why, because of Candace of course.
"But if you're not going to play along, I don't see a point in trying~♪"
Julius took a seat on a bar stool not too far from Chase's spot in the kitchen-- but not before taking a wet wipe from his pocket to wipe down it's surface, you couldn't be too careful in such sleazy locations like the Brass Bar. Honestly, he'd probably get an STD if he wasn't smart enough to bring such needed . He'd reward himself with a piece of organic dark chocolate later for such smart thinking.
Folding his legs, the man examined his nails before speaking in a sort of nonchalant tone and getting right to the point at that. "So Candace told me you two are a thing, or whatever you want to call it ... " Ruby red eyes glance to the chef, batting his eyelashes with a smile more akin to a hungry wolf looking at a lamb then anything else.
"I can't even begin to tell you what a surprise it was to hear that~♪"
"If History could set you free (From who you were supposed to be) If sex in a society (Didn't tell a guy who he should be) 'Cause all my life I've tried to fight what History has given me, me!"
The Fuck You Mean You're Taken? - [Julius & Candace]
[She watches as Julius closed the distance between them, doing her best to squash the flight response in her chest and stay rooted to the spot. But it’s hard when he’s this close, hard when his fingers are arching toward her hair, running through it, sending cold shivers through her scalp and down her spine.]
I—
[It takes a second for her to understand the weight of the question being posed to her. The sheer gravity of the situation is staggering, and for a moment she feels dizzy with it, physically dizzy with it. Julius, leaning that way, the clear disapproval on his features. Eyes finding hers and forcing her to look away, not strong enough to rise to the challenge of eye contact, to any challenge, not strong enough to do anything but crumble.]
I—
[And he was waiting for an answer, an answer she was choking on, an answer she could scarcely breathe around for how lodged it was in her throat. Panic kept her from weighing the options, from thinking through the situation rationally. Did she? Did she even know if she did? How could someone even know something like that? How could she of all people know, when happiness to her seemed like an elusive bird that perched on one’s windowsill and flew away whenever it felt like it?]
I— I don’t— [She stammered, taking a step back. Retreating.] I don’t know, Julius— I don’t know—
[Oh Goddess. There it was, there was the constant stuttering he somehow found himself not missing during his time away from Castanet. He didn't see what was so hard about the question, honestly. A simple "yes" or "no" would suffice and Julius sure as hell didn't want to hear her go into some long speech about it-- not that he really expected anything of the sort from her, but still.] Really? [He sneered, eyebrows arching in an incredulous nature.]
[This was just too good-- the girl didn't even know if she loved her boyfriend, her sweetheart. He could've laughed-- So he did just so.] Oh~ This this is just too good~! [Julius remarked, laughter pouring from his lips.] You don't even know if you love him? Honestly?
[Pushing a long finger onto her shoulder, he leaned down to look her in the eye, to get a good view of her expression while it lasted.] It's kind of sad that you don't know something so simple yet very much needed in a relationship, don't you think, love~?
Something Good Can Work! [Not] - [Chase/Julius]
It was to no surprise to Julius that he ended up at the Brass Bar of all places seeing that one more confrontation couldn't hurt with Candace's "man", the curly-headed creep known as Chase. Honestly, what did she see in him besides a personal chef? Unbelievable, the two-bit cook managed to worm his way into her heart after he had so valiantly went off to look after his ailing father. Just like one of his soaps, this was just too much.
Opening the door to the bar, he made his way straight over to the chef without bidding Kathy "hello" or even commenting on Selena's outfit [which in all honesty, needed a major revamping-- Just say no to stereotypical belly dancing outfits, kids.]
No-- his business was with Chase.
"Ohmygoooooosh~! Chase, is that yoooooooou~?" Of course it was, he was the only one stupid enough to wear sandals in the middle of Autumn. "Oh, it's just been ages" Julius gushed, putting on an all too "sweet" facade to hide the bitter, gut-wrenching envy he felt towards the cook.
"Come, come~♥ we just have to catch up. Put down that spoon else I hit you over the head with it" he teased. Was he teasing? Sure, of course he was.
For now.
The Fuck You Mean You're Taken? - [Julius & Candace]
[She stops short, that cold feeling of guilt flooding her again. What is she even feeling guilty for? She can’t even tell at this point - only that it feels miserable when Julius looks at her that way, like she’s done something awful without even knowing it.]
I— [She begins. Falters.] … What? I’m— I’m not lying, Julius.. I wouldn’t make something like that up.. [She diverts her eyes to her offensive leggings, unable to meet his face when Julius is looking at her that way.] You know me better than that..! He— we— I mean, he asked me to be his girlfriend.. like, um. [Now it was hard to remember facts, it was always so much harder to remember anything when she was anxious. When was it? When had he asked her?] B-back in Summer— back in the middle of— S-Summer—
[Yes, that was right. After the speedo incident. She sighed with dismay at herself, at everything, at the whole situation around her.] He— he made me a tape, I can prove it— I can show you—
[So he had asked her to be his girlfriend back in Summer, had he? Right before he had gone home to take care of his father whom had suffered a major heart attack-- he supposed all those years of meatloaf Thursdays had finally gotten to him. Or maybe it was the general bad eating he had done after his mother passed away.]
[It took him a moment not to full on bash the shy woman on her choice in men, finding the right words to articulate about his current state of mind. A sincere--] I see, I see. [Was all that he offered for the time being, stepping closer to Candace to reach over and pick up a thick lock of her pale azure hair. In a curt tone, running slender fingers over her hair as if inspecting it for any flaws. Not meeting her eyes and looking overall frustrated.] I don't want to see the tape, no.
[Sighs through his nose, dropping the piece of hair and leaning up against the doorway that separated the shop from their home.] So-- Do you love him or what?
[Julius didn't know why he asked that of all questions knowing very well he didn't want to hear whatever answer came forth from those pouted lips ... They did look very kissable, really, the more he thought about it. No! No, no, no-- this was no time for such fantasies. Ruby red eyes meeting her own, The jeweler's brow rose as he expected her to come out with the answer then and there.] I'm waiting.
The Fuck You Mean You're Taken? - [Julius & Candace]
[She’s used to this feeling that floods her chest and stomach, of course, that turns her brain numb. There are times where she goes sometimes weeks, sometimes months without feeling it, but it’s a much more familiar experience than happiness for her - like slipping on an old glove. Guilt, guilt, guilt. She hangs her head, hands immediately balling themselves up in her skirt as though cursing her decision not to wear something floor length. She always had had terrible taste in leggings.]
S-sorry—
[She winces as he continued— the bit about the local charity shop landing a particularly sticky blow somewhere between her ribs. She had made this outfit— but that was how it was with the things she designed herself. This was precisely why she didn’t design for the shop. Of course. Of course. His cue for her to hurry— chop chop, Candace!— had her feet moving before she’d even heard what she was hurrying for, her reflex to simply obey— and his actual request hit her in stages on her way out of the room.]
[First, the word date. Something in her heart exploded with a strange mix of excitement and fear to realize he’d said that word, and she did a double take— already halfway to the divider between shop and home.]
[And second, the word promise. She turned around more fully, blinking rapidly. Had she promised him a date? She honestly couldn’t remember, now that she was face-to-face with having to try. She opened her mouth, faltered, then tried again.]
W-wait, Julius— when did I— d-did I really—? [She frowns down at her hands, trying to remember the last time she and Julius had spoken.] Was I— was that before I started— started dating Chase? It can’t have been after..
[Looking at his manicured nails, noting a small chip that he'd have to fix when he'd get back home.] Tch ... [Glances up at Candace, looking thoroughly bored as she apologizes to him about her taste in clothing.] As you should be. But don't worry that pretty, little head of yours~♥ I am a forgiving man above all else, you see, and being the humble sort of chap I am you-- you are forgiven.
[He seemed to ignore all she had to say, stutter, rather. Not seeming particularly interested about hearing her object to this mock date he had made up. What did draw his attention back to reality with a sharp gasp was hearing that Candace was dating Chase, of all people.] ... ... ... [He stared, and he stared, then stared some more. His lips curling downwards in a remarkable scowl as ruby red eyes narrowed at the mousy girl.]
Like hell you are.
What do you do for fun as hobbies?
Well, I call it Charity work but others might disagree-- wrong as they might be. Like, I pick out people's flaws for them and help them realize what a mistake it is to continue to pursue their passions seeing how unfashionable they may be.
Take for instance someone with a stamp collection-- [A stamp collection? Did those words really just come from his perfectly poised lips? Gross, he'd have to do a brown sugar scrub on them to remove such impurities.] I get that collecting pieces of old, sticky paper can be super fun and all but [Shakes his head slowly, looking a little sympathetic.] That's just not going to do it, no.
But I also like to read about gem stones~! [Read as in read the subtitles off of the home purchasing show that showed off all of the latest semi-precious stones. But that was still reading, right?] Plus like, the usual knitting and telling people why my opinion is better.
[Pauses, before saying--] It's a wonder I'm not taken, honestly.
