VENUS
She used to secretly fear this, the big imposing door leading to Ravenclaw Tower and her sister. As a first year Venus remembered waiting for her twin in the corridor and then finally plucking up the courage to knock and try her luck with the riddle. Years later, she had no such misgivings, and the blonde pushed past a group of third years so she didn’t have to listen to them struggle.
“What asks but never answers?”
“This stupid door, let me in.” Had the eagle knocker been able to roll its eyes, she was quite sure it would have. Still, the door swung open to admit the Slytherin and Venus smiled triumphantly as she closed it in the faces of the young Ravenclaws who’d attempted to follow her.
The familiar tall blonde wasn’t among the group of students studying in the common room, although they did look up and glare at the intruder as Venus bounced through on her way to her sister’s dorm. Diana wasn’t here either, but the room was blessedly free of any other seventh year girls. So Venus flopped down on the bed belonging to her sister and started to sift through the items on her bedside table. Nothing interesting, so she moved to the drawer and discovered Diana’s stash of sugar quills. The older Rowle twin fought the urge to snap them all simply for the satisfying noise and mess it would make. Instead, she lay back on the bed and busied herself picking at a loose thread from her sister’s bedspread. Venus did not wait well.

“ your sister is here. ”
that was the first thing diana heard stepping into the ravenclaw dormitory. the voice doesn’t sound pleased but she isn’t bothered. the rowle twins have been going into the other’s dormitory since their first year. they were too close to be separated by the notion of being in different houses, too desperate for the other’s company to listen to the rules saying they should stay in their own dormitories and only see each other in the common spaces in the castle. of all the rules hogwarts has, staying to her own dormitory wasn’t a rule she minded breaking.
she took the steps to the bedroom quickly and her eyes sought her sister immediately. seeing her lying on her own bed, a smile crossed her face.
“ venus ! ”
her steps were hurried and she got onto her bed, pushing her sister slightly so she could make herself some room. the twin beds were small but the two girls could fit on them easily so long as they didn’t mind sharing each other’s space.
“ i didn’t know you were coming tonight. i hope you weren’t here too long. ” there was something chiding within her voice but there was no real weight to it.
diana tucked her hands underneath her head and stared at the ceiling. she didn’t mind not always having a lot of conversation. sometimes it was nice just being next to venus. she listened to the sound of her sister breathing for a few moments before reaching over for her sister’s hand, twining their fingers together.
“ can you believe it’s our seventh year already ? i feel like it was just yesterday that we were first years. don’t you wonder where the time went ? ”
