Pacific Rim: Does such a phenomenal job with Mako Mori that she gets a Bechdel-esque test of female prominence in a story named after her
Pacific Rim Uprising: Mako’s presence in the story only serves to further Jake’s development. Mako Mori fails the Mako Mori test
I know it’s like, a very Donna thing for me to say, but I love Brad. I loved working with Brad, and I think it shows on the show. He treated me with incredible kindness. He’s a great, great friend to me. Everybody was, but especially Brad. - Janel Moloney
The function of mourning in modern fandom
I’m still in love with Danny Castellano.
I’d never joined a fandom in my life before this fandom, not because other art has failed to move me, but because specifically this character has been my deepest truest love when it comes to evoking genuine emotion from what is essentially a construct outside of my control. Of course, all love is a little outside of your control - you give what you can give, be it just a little hope or the whole of your being - and you get what you get. You just hope that you don’t get hurt.
This time we got hurt.
And I think that’s why you see such a variety of reactions in fandom - from the furious to the hopeful to the completely disconnected. The withdrawal was neither gradual enough to allow us to fall out of love, nor sudden enough to trigger a grief process. So we each have to find our grief process alone, and it’s exhausting and it destroys relationships because everyone mourns in a different way, and for those who mourn one way it can be hard to see the other side. It’s especially hard when we have waited for such a long time for someone who did have control over the character to acknowledge our loss. To say I know you loved him. I loved him too. Creators are going to do what they’re going to do (and they have that right) but at the end of the day we’ve been given neither a clean break nor a fade away, and certainly never closure.
Other fandoms have lost more this year, and the implications of the unhappy endings plaguing other shows are much broader and more destructive than the disappearance of Danny Castellano, but across the board I feel like it’s time to say to other fans what the creators will never say to us.
I know you loved him. I loved him too.
Honestly what gets me the most is that he respects her so fucking much. Jaime Lannister, who doesn’t really respect anybody.
“When people hear that, I think that they sometimes get worried that they’re not going to see him, but he was in these past 13 episodes very frequently and they share a child, so I don’t want to scare people off about him not being in the show because the character is built into the fabric of the show, especially as the father of Mindy’s child. People will not miss Danny because he’s going to be there. We would never do that to the audience, so people don’t have to worry about it.”
Mindy Kaling (x)
I understand that it is super likely that it is IN NO WAY Mindy Kaling’s fault that Chris Messina is no longer a series regular. But still – this quote really irks me because it implies that these past 13 episodes have been satisfying…Having Danny make small cameos every so often hasn’t been satisfying to me at all. Watching the relationship completely disintegrate hasn’t been satisfying. Watching RomCom 2.0 play out with Mindy x Jody hasn’t been satisfying. “People will not miss Danny because he’s going to be there.” Well, I do miss him. I miss season 1 and 2 Danny. I miss when he was more of a character and less of a caricature. But don’t worry about me worrying about it – if this season has taught me anything, it’s taught me not to be emotionally attached to the show anymore. I moved on awhile ago but it still bugs when Mindy pretends that everything’s fine and dandy and super great for the audience when, obviously, this is a huge adjustment and a very weird move for a show to have to make.

If the cast of the force awakens was stuck on an island, who would be the leader and why?
I would be the leader. Just cause. Although we’d end up having to listen to Carrie because if Mama’s not happy, nobody’s happy.
- Harrison Ford
HA HA HA you know this is true.
This is honestly how easily drama starts on the show
Mob Wives is the best.
Yay!
I believe that you will find the answers to the biggest mysteries, and I will be there when you do… [insp.]
The Evolution of Richonne: These are two people who have found kindred spirits in each other, strength, respect, support, loyalty. But the world has been screaming in their faces and clawing at them for a good part of their acquaintance. For all they’ve been through, when the world stopped screaming and clawing for them, they realized what they had. — Scott Gimple
