Come on. Look at this album. Insane. A beautiful reissue lovingly remastered, and pressed on 180 gr. audiophile vinyl.

Punch the Clock really is a great album. I think it's kinda underrated among Elvis Costello albums, probably because it came out in the 80s and it has a more "pop" sound. But all the dark and clever lyrics are still there under all the danceable beats, the horn section and backup singers sound amazing and take Costello's usual sound to new and exciting places, plus the Attractions are also still here and slaying as usual. This is an album that has "Everyday I Write The Book" AND "Shipbuilding" on it, two hugely important and yet very different songs in his discography. And despite having that range, it still feels like a cohesive album with a unified sound, which is extremely rare for Elvis.
mister flansburgh! sir! 📰🎤 a friend and i would like to inquire about your burger topping preferences in order to make ourselves some tasty Flansburgers (patent pending). have you words of wisdom for us?
JF: that is so funny. Go crazy. In my old age I have come to appreciate hamburgers, Beyond and beyond. Toppings are the real key. Cheese if you consider that a topping. Ketchup. Pickles. Some grilled jalepanos are good. A little bit of mayo. And everything after that--lettuce tomato etc. are all good. I love onions, but as a people-pleaser I have to keep that at bay!
How do you feel about people considering you a "teenager band", so to speak? I remember you guys saying in an interview once about no matter when or where you played, the people in the front row were always teenagers or young adults. Do you still agree with that?
JF: is that true? I have been told in all sincerity by a mid-western promoter that we are one of the only bands "for everybody"--pointing out that we actually has a 50-50 male to female audience AND college age to older adults. He really drilled down on the idea that that most acts have audiences limited to a single gender. Who knew?
Hi Flans! I’m seeing Sparks in Manchester in May - so excited to see you guys are playing with them in July (sounds like my absolute dream show ever)! Wish I was in America to see that - almost feel like I’m dreaming seeing that notification. You got me into Sparks by saying how they were a band you enjoyed :)
JF: that's great. Enjoy their show. I'm sure they are very excited to have all this new-found attention! It's well deserved!
what gender is the mojo chessmaster .
JF: non-binary.
What rhymes of yours are you most and least proud of?
JF: I don't spend a lot of time dissecting what I don't like specifically about my shortcomings--I just let general self-doubt do the heavy lifting!
I am proud of writing the Hate the Villanelle lyric--just because it was such a challenge. Not a ton of unusual rhymes there, but lots of metric discipline!
