listen I love the coven found family but I also love them toxic and constantly lying to each other okay
There is something odd happening in Oakhurst...
There is something odd happening in Oakhurst...
Sometimes Oakhurst's vibe can be semi-accurately described as "Cleo and Legundo platonically co-parenting about ten idiots", and that amuses me greatly.
They'd be a dysfunctional enough community even without the vampires tbh.
Just imagine what slice-of-life shenanigans must've been involved in building up the town if you think about it realistically, like— I'm pretty sure at least a third of these guys don't know how to cook. So who is feeding them. And on that note, where is their drinking water supply? Their water supply in general actually. How are these idiots doing laundry.
Now I'm contemplating a slice-of-life fic that's just the trials and tribulations of Cleo and Dr Legs trying to ensure that everyone in this newfound settlement has a place to sleep, a place to bathe, three meals a day and a clean change of clothes. Cue both of them slowly losing their minds about it, because, without fail, everyone else in town seems only capable of managing at most three of those four things.
"Drift's not the only vampire in town. Apo isn't the only one. I'm not the only one." spoilers under the cut
[Part 1] glad to see vampire club is still up to the usual
I just keep thinking about how when Scott was hanging out in town with everyone around him in a circle, the Doctor seemed to be about to crawl out of his damn skin. He knows this is the sort of things that's likely to be a distraction. & everyone is just chatting it up with Scott, like that's fine & normal really, but Doc also knows Scott is bad news. This guy is the real threat here, despite how he presents himself. He can't just leave them all there chatting with Scott.
So instead he's moving around, his head's on a swivel. He's keeping an eye on what he can without losing line of sight on Scott for too long. He's checking the beacon. He's trying to catch Avid's eye & signal with a water bottle. He's fidgety & shifting around & jumping on fences & walls & he is SO intensely agitated the whole time they're talking with Scott.
But when Owen showed up the next night? Totally different story.
First off, when Owen interjects into the circle conversation, everyone else* moves around a bit, looking in different directions for him. The Doctor doesn't move or look around; he doesn't have to. There is a beat & then he slowly, intentionally looks up at Owen on the roof.
Once Owen starts monologing, Doc moves as little as possible, & he doesn't take his eyes off Owen, with only three exceptions. He looks away while significantly repositioning/moving twice & looks at Martyn when he says "this is not the right time" at which point Owen bats out. These three moments are each about a second long. Otherwise, Owen is dead center in the Doctor's sight.**
The Doctor doesn't check the beacon or keep an eye on the rest of the town, because he's not thinking about those things. He doesn't fidget or pace to cope with his focus being split in more directions than he can cover.
For 2 minutes 27 seconds, all of his attention is on Owen.
*except Pearl with her amazing hearing & totally cracked perception stat
**Okay, one more exception, & that's him violently shaking his head when Sausage asks who the secret vampires are, during which Owen occupies the center third of the image. Owen is immediately perfectly centered again, though, as Doc walks forward to cut off that line of inquiry.
I did notice that! I tried to figure out where Doc was during that fight by doing a frame by frame of Owen’s video.
I found that for a while, the Doctor continues to just watch Owen, with minimal movement & not looking away much. But when Owen hears Pearl coming upstairs to the roof, he focuses on the roof itself for a bit. After that, Legs is nowhere to be seen for the whole fight with Pearl.
He reappears right after Pearl falls, dies, & disappears, shown for half a second turning past the building to the side where Pearl fell before Owen starts monologing.
Based on this, & him asking Pearl about how the fight ended later on in Cleo’s pov, I suspect he actually missed most of the fight. No clue what he was doing; I haven’t watched all the povs from those in town for that scene to see if he shows up during that time.
I honestly give it about even odds of being a case of “unreliable narrator” or just that his footage from that bit wasn’t good enough to make since the cut since he didn’t see it really & his video is already an hour fifteen minutes. Or maybe both idk.

Y'all, my mind is reeling just at the possibility of Doc getting turned by Avid, which would absolutely be non-consensual. & 'cause, y'know...
How would Owen react to that?
Owen, who was given the choice whether or not to turn.
Owen, who has not turned anyone; who has offered to, but not done so because they did not agree.
Owen, who has been trying since Ep 3 to convince Legundo to let him turn him.
Owen, who called Legundo the only good soul he's found in his 225 years on this wretched Earth & only trusted Legs enough to tell him about Louis.
Owen, who already sees Avid as the current incarnation of those who took Louis from him, who despises Avid in the extreme & wants him to suffer as much as is remotely possible?
I'm really not betting on the tweets about today's recording session being about vampire Avid turning the Doctor.
I'm just saying... What positively delicious character potential that would have.
Hey VSMP fandom, someone unrelated to the fandom is having a whole, uh, well seems like they’re having a bad time, to put it lightly, in #bloodletting, & have been making a high volume of posts for the last five hours. Many of these post contain things that have high potential to be triggering for people.
This is something I’ve actually been worrying about for a while, since I’ve seen similar post crop up there occasionally. & this kinda makes a very not great space to be fandoming.
I am again suggesting we move to #vsmp bloodletting for anything we want to tag as specifically the ship (vs using #cure duo as a duo tag).
Bloodletting is a term with general language uses & implications that mean graphic or otherwise upsetting posts are more likely to pop up there. Putting “vsmp” at the start of the tag would pretty much eliminate those sorts of posts showing up.
Let’s keep our fandom space as safe as possible & reduce the chances of running into triggers beyond what’s expected for/relevant to the series.
(Please reblog to signal boost this. I’d like to get the warning out as much as possible before people go to the tag & have a really bad time.)

Quick tidbit of what I’m writing:
Owen then slicked his pale hair back with the bloodied hand, a shaky smile curving his lips.
“Doctor, we can’t keep meeting up like this.” He mused, fangs shining in the moonlight. Legundo watched as the vampire turned to fully face him, his eyes like pools of blood. After studying them for a moment, the doctor focused on Owen’s body language; he was shaking, twitching and breathing heavily even for an undead creature. This was different from their last meeting. This time, it appeared Owen reeked of false confidence and calmness.
“Owen,” he thought of before back in Oakhurst when the vampire crouched upon the rooftops, laughing in hysteria as insults were thrown at him. He had spoke of wretched things, saying death would fall upon them all. Even threats of war and bloodshed for all humans and vampires who dared wrong him.
But like Owen’s confidence, Legundo had a feeling that his threats were also false.
“What?” Owen heaved out when Legundo failed to reply. His shoulders began to scrunch up as he tilted his head back. He kept smiling, yet so much different from Scott’s, Shelby’s and even Pyro’s occasional grin. Owen’s was a trying one, one that wasn’t of pleasure or delight. One that was attempting to hide the turmoil deep in his dead heart.

if you guys want to see more maybe I can post it on AO3! :3 also idk if I used the semi colon right but pay it little mind I haven’t edited this fully yet.

Was there a moment when you decided you wanted your vampires character to have an unhealthy attachment for scott/be a bootlicker or was that an on the spot improv decision you just went with?
Honestly its all improv. I have been winging the entire character and every moment throughout every episode, so I'm glad its all come together to form some consistent guy! I've decided on the whole character too now. I know what kind of person he is, so I'm gonna reveal all once the story from his POV is over. I love seeing all the theories and reading into what you guys think he is like!
