Meet Tod Tweed. They say he looks like Cameron Monaghan and acts like Tod (The Fox & the Hound), but he begs to differ. He is 22 years old and currently taken.
PERSONALITY
✓ kindhearted, sociable, intelligent ✖ withdrawn, mischievous, sensitive
BACKGROUND
Although his life had its low points here and there, Tod always remembered it being full of love, compassion, and happiness, especially when he was a child. He had no clue who his biological mother was, only that she’d wrapped him up in a small basket when he was just a few months old and left him on the porch of Wilma Tweed, a young widow who took him in without a moment’s hesitation. Tod would’ve preferred to know why his biological mother left him on the front porch of a complete stranger, but he was thankful that she chose Mrs. Tweed of all people. The woman was so affectionate and loving that Tod honestly couldn’t have asked for a better mother. Out on the little farm she owned in South Carolina, Tod was practically bursting with happiness – he had acres upon acres of land to roam around freely, lived alongside all sorts of farm animals, and even had a forest right in his backyard. For a growing, hyperactive boy, this was like heaven on earth. On their farm, Mrs. Tweed taught her son how to value every single life he came across, including animals on the farm or out in the forest. According to his mother, each animal’s life was just as valuable as any human’s and there was no reason to kill a creature unless absolutely necessary. Hunting for sport, in Mrs. Tweed’s eyes, was immoral and went against the balance people were meant to have with nature. Having been raised on these principals, Tod had an incredible fascination for the forest just beyond the property lines of their farm and often snuck there whenever his mother wasn’t paying attention, which was how he first met his best friend Copper. They’d both been roaming the forest when they ran into each other and realized that they were neighbors, only separated by the wired fence that split up their parents’ properties. Almost instantly, the two hit it off and spent much of their free time together, even going so far as to stick with each other at school too. Tod couldn’t believe that he’d made a best friend so quickly, but he hoped that they’d continue staying the best of friends for as long as they both lived.
Like most children, however, Copper and Tod began to slowly but surely grow apart as they grew older, mostly because they developed into two completely different people. While Copper preferred to go hunting and get involved in sports, Tod would much rather spend his time preserving the beauty of the natural world and the animals who called it home. At school, he started an environmentalist club and joined a withstanding animal lover’s club as well, devoting most of his free time to cleaning up the local forests or starting up fundraisers to help earn money for a variety of wildlife protection organizations. Although many people considered him to be the epitome of a ‘tree hugging’ hipster, Tod couldn’t care less what any of his peers said about him, so long as he had a decent amount of support behind him. The friends from his clubs supported him, his mother supported him, but Copper never seemed to catch onto the importance of what Tod did. No matter how often Tod explained why hunting for sport the way Copper’s father and brother did was wrong, Copper continued partaking in the ‘sport’ with his family and seemed to completely ignore Tod’s reasoning. It eventually reached the point where Tod requested that Copper not discuss his hunting trips while around him for the sake of their friendship, but things reached a boiling point when Tod went exploring through the forest behind their homes and found that the Slades had set up dozens upon dozens of traps. Without even fully realizing what he was doing, Tod began setting off the traps before any animals could get hurt and went so far as to free any animals he found caught up in cages. For a few months, this practice continued until he was finally caught in the middle of the act by Copper’s father and older brother. He’d never meant to hurt Copper or his family, but when his best friend cut off all ties with him after the incident, Tod was forced to accept that their friendship had reached its breaking point.
Once word spread that Tod and Copper were no longer friends, some of their peers from school and even random people around town gave Tod the cold shoulder. After all, Copper was the epitome of a Southern gentleman and their beloved golden boy – if he wasn’t friends with someone, then there must have been something wrong with the other person. Tod had no doubts that Copper’s family did some gossiping of their own, so he wasn’t surprised when he began to get picked on wherever he went. It was especially terrible at school thanks to the jocks – Copper’s teammates from his various sports teams – constantly bullying him and sometimes getting physical when no one was looking. The only thing Tod had to look forward to when it came to school was furthering his education and finding a way to get both himself and his mother out of their tiny hometown. After working a few jobs around town and helping his mother with the farm, Tod managed to save up enough money to seriously consider a move out of South Carolina by the time senior year rolled around. However, his plans took an unexpected turn when Copper stepped in when a few of his friends tried cornering Tod in a bathroom. It clearly wasn’t the best place to rekindle their friendship, yet Copper tried to reconnect with his old friend once he’s scared his friends off. Admittedly, Tod harbored some resentment and anger towards Copper for completely abandoning him, so he fled before Copper could get an apology out. It wasn’t until graduation rolled around that Copper finally managed to corner Tod and genuinely apologize for everything that’d happened over the years. When Copper asked to accompany Tod and Mrs. Tweed to Meridian, Tod begrudgingly agreed and figured they could try building their friendship back up. Since arriving in Meridian a few years ago, Copper has stuck close to Tod’s side, but Tod still isn’t sure if they can become as close as they used to be.

[until dawn au]: josh and sam’s happy ending
He always heard people say that “it’s always darkest before the dawn”. And it was so damn true. It was dawning when his friends came back to the mines to save him from the wendigo. It was dawning when he first woke up at the hospital and saw Sam sleeping by his side, still holding his hand and taking care of him… Forgiveness and love were as bright and healing as daylight to Josh. And yet, he felt he didn’t truly live until the moment he saw his beloved and always supportive Sam holding in her arms their little Dawn.
