Until I thought of something. But also I then disproved myself so I don’t even know what my point is anymore. but still.
This might just be my brain making up stuff since I couldn’t find it, but I swear there was a moment of seiko talking about how the whole power system was kind of like rock paper scissors. Humans can defeat spirits, spirits can defeat aliens, aliens can defeat humans.
And then I got to thinking which is a very rare occurrence for me
Scissors. We have an actual character with scissors as a power now, this rich classist twat apparently
Scissors (or rather, scissoring) is a common joke used for lesbians. And as I’m sure you know, in rock paper scissors, scissors cuts up paper and will always win against paper.
The only thing that can defeat scissors, are rock. And there’s also a common idea in close relationships for someone to be someone else’s “rock” in a sense. A constant, who’ll be there to support them through hard times.
Her music was a constant in the devastating time for Aira when her mother passed. It helped Aira grieve and live, to only think about kouki’s music in that moment.
A rock will always win against scissors. And this is where I’m stretching it a little bit but it could be that kouki is already content in her sexuality. She knows who she is, there’s no fighting it. Which is why she’d win.
It’s also Aira’s weakness. She will always lose against scissors if she doesn’t accept who she is, there’s no use in fighting it as she IS paper.
Paper is also the only thing can that defeat rock.
Aira beat kouki in the piano competition. She was the only one that could! Not only that, but actual paper was also kouki’s enemy. She had to learn sheet music instead of just enjoying the music itself, the pressure to be better and better BROKE her.
But the way paper defeats rock in the game is different to all the others. Scissors merely cuts paper in half, and rock crushes scissors.
But paper is different. What could it do against a rock? It wraps around it, in an embrace.
Suffocating at first. Muffling everything around you, like you’re drowning.
But then, it starts to become something else. Protection. Protection from the others who try to hurt you, taking the blow instead of you.
And eventually, it’s comforting.

also side note, then you have rock paper scissors SHOOT. children use a gun as a cheat, to beat whatever you’re doing. Momo’s the gun.
