Help me go visit my grandpa for what may very well be the last time!!
TLDR; My grandpa’s health is deteriorating and I want to visit him but first my gf and I need help with funds to fix up some needed maintenance on our car!!
Hi! I’m iffy about making a post for donations regarding this, since it’s not so much an emergency, but moreso just something I’d like to be able to do before it’s too late.
My grandpa is a really stubborn old man but recently (reluctantly) moved into my aunts house next door to his home due to daily tasks becoming more difficult (especially with his memories). However, while he was at his place last week, he took a rough fall that wound up essentially breaking his neck and now things seem to be more time sensitive.
I’ve already started taking measures to work towards making the trip (alerting my boss, talking about scheduling, trying to find a set date to mark for the day my gf and I would leave, etc) and since I plan to stay for a week while there, I’ve taken up 10 extra hours of work a week (that’s 55+ hours of work each week) in order to try and cover a week of lost wages, as I don’t have any vacation or personal time to cover this trip. There’s also the chance that my tax return will also hit my bank account so that I will have the funds to cover bills and rent for the month I choose to leave (which, at this point I’m leaning towards the first week of march)
However, there’s other issues that my gf and I have to address before we’re able to leave, expenses that need to be covered ASAP and can’t likely depend on tax return funds to hit in time. (My return is estimated to hit on Feb 28th, I most likely aim to leave March 2nd)
Essentially, we need to do some car maintenance. An oil change and 3 new tires. We’ve been needing an oil change since September of last year, and 3 of our tires are old and worn down so badly that our car has a tendency to skid. I estimate the total cost for this to be approximately $250 ($50-$60 oil change, $50-$75 per tire replacement). I’m not 100% on the exact prices, but any extra that price doesn’t cover I shouldn’t have an issue bridging myself.
I’m still working on clearing my current commission queue, so unfortunately I can’t offer art or take commissions for this. I can maybe offer quick bust sketches like this to those who donate (to be done after my queue is cleared) but other than that all I can do is say thank you!
