Talk about a creative explainer video! The style is really interesting, but what really drives the visuals for me is the change in perspective within the transitions. Sometimes flat designs like this can come up short over the span of two minutes, but these well-executed seamless changes from scene to scene really elevate the complexity.
Hyundai Motor Show
Hyundai’s concept car “Enduro” shows off some interstellar stylings with a distinct moon-buggy look. The promo is expertly directed, whether it’s the live-action moments or the CG scenes, the thoughtful consideration is evident throughout.
Nexon Maple Story 2 - Cinematic
The cutesy characters from the original Maple Story return in this 3D prequel installment. As this unique cinematic shows, the dainty folk will only take so much before they bring out the really big guns.
Odysseus 2
This is a very cool idea, and really well executed. The "payoff" or "gag" in an animation can sometimes be spoiled earlier than you want due to poor execution. That is not the case for this short motion graphics promo! I love how all of the up close HUD graphics in "space" were simply hovering under a desk lamp which acted as the sun. I also think the change in mood, from dark to light, was gradual enough to be very successful.
British Gas - Haven
Gorgeously rendered “happy place” showcasing great character design, textures, and especially lighting. The definition of a warm and fuzzy spot!
Haiku
The particular 5/7/5 rhythm of the Haiku serves as the inspiration, and translation key, for Daniel Ivan as he reimagines the unique cadence visually. This experiment is the fascinating manifestation of a curious and talented mind.
Coast To Coast II
It’s a tall order to take a screen print illustration style, capture great lighting with a stellar color palette, and turn it all into a dynamic animation (with decent typography no less).
I’ve tried, and failed miserably, to catch the mice family living among my basement treasures. The live-catch bucket is primed with peanut butter yet they continue to evade my genius (?) attempts to capture and relocate them. Why then would I choose to highlight a short about a rodent houseguest? Because it’s a charming antipodal narrative compared to the shredded, poop-filled scandal I encounter on a daily basis.

I’ve long maintained that a great explainer video takes a complicated subject and breaks it down into easily digestible packets of data, while driving home much of the information visually with approachable and stylized graphics. Given that marketing isn’t always easily “explainable,” the core concept about connecting the right dots while pursuing complex strategies is aptly captured here.
International Delight - Flying Machine
The coffee creamer is back with another zany installment with its flavor-friends. This time a trio of daring aviators create a masterpiece of taste. As with previous spots, the visuals are triumphant examples of whimsy, exquisitely crafted and fun to watch.
KBS2 Network Idents
The illustrative quality in this package is neatly rendered, yet there is an added airy quality to the effortless swishes and twirls. The fresh use of animated negative space is particularly noteworthy.

Demonstrating just how much range an illustrated package can have, these precious ratings are brilliantly age appropriate but not condescending in the least.

With a nod to surrealist ribbon paintings this darkly existential film reaches for meaning and searches for hope.
