2016- Pfizer was fined $106M for a 2600% price hike on its epilepsy drug.

2019- J&J increased most of its drug prices by ~7% (Inflation was ~1.8%).

2020- Astrazeneca hiked prices on its popular drugs by up to 6% (Inflation was ~1%). The company then made a second round of increases after it secured a $1.2B from the U.S. for vaccine development. Astrazeneca made over $3.6B in profit in the first half of 2020.

2021-Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J are prepared to raise the COVID-19 vaccine price after the pandemic is contained in the US. They’ve only resisted hiking the price now to save face while they are being used in the US. Meanwhile, Pfizer hasn’t given access to its vaccine to over 85% of the world.

The entire pharmaceutical industry is abysmal. Every company has a similar agenda: maximize profit even at the expense of human life

a few things -

1. tomorrow w the election results, realize that many votes were mailed in and will be counted until the end of november (x). tomorrow will not have a definitive winner. it’ll be a projection. it seems that a lot of mail in ballots are democratic party votes, so keep your head up unless there’s some kind of massive landslide.

2. voter intimidation is real and i would expect it to be pretty bad at the polls tomorrow. if you experience or witness voter intimidation, please call 1-866-our-vote (1-866-687-8683) to report it. this number calls the national voter protection hotline and they can send federal investigators as well as local law enforcement to help. it’s a good practice to record any voter intimidation that you see at the polls and write your account and report it to local law enforcement, the ACLU, local news, etc. save this evidence in a place that you will not lose it and cc yourself on any emails you send to ensure you do not lose it too.

2a. if possible, vote with a friend or family member.

3. if you are uncertain about your voter status, have not gotten a response that your mail-in ballot has been processed, or if you are booted from the polling line for xyz reasons, please make sure you grab a provisional ballot. idaho, minnesota, and new hampshire unfortunately do not do provisional ballots, but all other 47 states do. as per the linked website, it is a federal law in these states to give voters provisional ballots. quote, “If an individual declares that such individual is a registered voter in the jurisdiction in which the individual desires to vote and that the individual is eligible to vote in an election for Federal office, but the name of the individual does not appear on the official list of eligible voters for the polling place or an election official asserts that the individual is not eligible to vote, such individual shall be permitted to cast a provisional ballot....” if your state gives them and you cannot vote regularly, get one of these!

4. if you live in a large city and expect lines, make sure you dress for the weather and bring a snack or two!

5. some states will allow you to declare an emergency ballot if you are sick on election day. if you’re feeling under the weather, check if your state will allow you to have one.

6. here are the tips the CDC has for voting during the pandemic so that you can protect yourself at the polls.

7. TIME magazine has a really great q&a article for other questions you may have tomorrow!

8. please take care of yourself. avoid social media and the news if you need too. hang out with people in your bubble and try to do something to distract yourself if you’re worried about the results!

i hope this doesn’t sound really weird but i feel really bad for the lady who came up with gender reveal parties. she had a very legitimate reason for throwing herself one–she’d had a few miscarriages, all of them miscarrying before she was able to find out the sex of her baby and due to really wanting to have children she was distraught, so when her pregnancy made it to the milestone of being able to find out her baby’s sex, she was understandably incredibly excited and threw a party to celebrate it. honestly she had every right to do so and was more celebrating the fact that she’d carried her baby to that point rather than celebrating if it was a girl or a boy

and now she’s the inventor of this horrible thing that makes stupid people cause wildfires. all this lady wanted to do was have some cake and celebrate her pregnancy after a few miscarriages. i feel fucking terrible for her.

HE’S LITERALLY TARGETING USPS IN BLUE AREAS WHERE HE LOST THE LAST ELECTION

If you feel unsafe about voting in person (because, y’know, we’re in the middle of a goddam pandemic) but now fear the USPS will be unable to deliver a “mail-in” ballot in a timely fashion….

1. Request a mail-in ballot.

2. Do not mail it.

3. Google your supervisor of elections to see where you can drop off your mail-in ballot. It’s usually NOT THE POLLING PLACE.

All states allow this! Here is what you’re accomplishing by doing this:

1. Your ballot gets in on time no matter what happens to the USPS.

2. You don’t have to worry about standing in long lines and risking infection. You’re just stopping by to drop it off.

3. You voted! Hooray! I have no doubt Trump and his supporters are doing to try to call into question the legitimacy of mail-in voting (which is more enthusiastically embraced by Democratic supporters, especially now.)

Also, when you drop it off, find out how to track it online to make sure it is verified. California, Oregon, Washington, and Colorado have systems that can track your ballot just like tracking a package from Amazon.

All CA vote centers (which are open for weeks to a month before election day) have ballot drop-off boxes too! Many government buildings have them as well, so there’s no need to wait until election day when it’s crowded to drop them off. The list of drop-off sites is always posted on each county’s voter info website.

This is important! This election is crucial! Get out and vote! We! Cannot! Afford! To! Get! Complacent! This year, every vote matters!

Also, not all states are allowing voters to vote absentee excuse-free. Many require voters to have a “valid excuse” for absentee voting, and some are quite strict on who qualifies (and Oklahoma requires absentee ballot affidavits to be notarized AND limits the number of affidavits a given notary public can notarize to TWENTY without “special authorization.”)

Actually I have anxiety, claustrophobia, sensory issues, & severe asthma, yet I still wear at least one if not two masks in public.

Yes, some people have pre-existing conditions that can make wearing masks difficult, the solution is going out in public as little as possible or finding alternative face coverings. (I’m sure there’s more safe solutions out there that other people have figured out)

I have no solutions for an alternative face covering that would work for someone w/copd, but someone with copd probably wouldn’t want to be in public rn b/c they’re very high risk?!? (Please someone correct me if I’m wrong on any of this I do not have copd)

Also asthmatics and other high risk people should wear masks to protect ourselves if we can? Having a few asthma attacks or panic attacks is so much better than me or someone else dying from covid19.

Stop using my conditions and disabilities as an excuse for pushing harmful ideology.
