Today is the final day of #DSCWoA2016 and we are excited by the powerful events, creativity and strength of our members and allies who participated across the country! Over the weekend we continue the conversation on social media to #RethinkDiscipline and focus on our national Demand #5: End paddling and physical punishment in all schools. It's Day 8 of #DSCWoA2016! Our 7th Annual National Week of Action Against #SchoolPushout features not one but two Saturdays because we couldn’t fit all the events in just one! There are events in over a dozen cities today, including rallies, teach-ins and the release of data and research from parents and youth.

We are using #RethinkDiscipline and #DSCWoA2016, focusing on Demand #5: End paddling and physical punishment in all schools. Corporal punishment and paddling are still legal in 19 states, and in schools across country students also experience seclusion and restraint, the use of tasers and pepper spray, and are subjected to other forms of physical harm.

It's Day 7 of #DSCWoA2016! Today we are using #RethinkDiscipline under #ESSA, focusing on our Demand #4: Make sure states and districts focus on school climate under the new federal law - the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Today our members will be hosting events in Richmond, VA, Colonial Beach, VA, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Los Angeles, North Carolina and Mississippi. Click link below for more info!

It's Day 6 of our 7th Annual National Week of Action Against #SchoolPushout! Today DSC members and allies will convene in Pittsburgh, PA for our national event Lift Us Up! Take Action Against the School-to-Prison Pipeline with policy-makers, parents and students, including musical performances by Jasiri X! The event will take place from 5:45 PM – 8:00 PM ET.
