Sorry to bother you, but is the digital version of the zine still coming up on Etsy? I do try to check regularly but were afraid I may have missed it Q^Q Thank you!
Thanks for your patience! The digital version of the zine should be posted on the Etsy now at https://www.etsy.com/shop/DinCobbZine!
We have completely sold out of physical Zines on our Etsy, but we recently added PDF copies for those of you who may have missed out. We also have a few more merch items left and would love to sell all of our extras.Â
As a reminder, our shop closes this Thursday, August 31. https://www.etsy.com/shop/DinCobbZine
Our next and final announcement will include a summary of how much we raised and were able to donate across the Kickstarter & Etsy campaigns!Â
We want to take the time to thank you all again. It has been a pleasure to see this project come to life.Â
Hello everyone thank you so much for your patience!
The wait is over and the Etsy store is now open! Please check it out here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DinCobbZine ! Please note that this store will only be open for the month of August and that our inventory for some items is quite limited! Additionally, all items are sold individually! For example, if you backed the Kickstarter and got a book and prints but you wish you were able to get the keychain, you now can!
Important: unless the mod managing the store has the time for more frequent stops, orders placed between now and the 15th will be shipped on the 16th and orders placed between the 16th and 31st will be shipped on Sept 1st!
Finally, everyone that's been in contact with a mod regarding a lost order should have received a tracking number today for your replacement!
Thank you so much for all your support these last few months -- we sincerely appreciate it. We'll update you all with the final donation amount after the store closes and we've done the last calculations!
ORDER UPDATE
Hey everyone! Thank you so much for your patience! We sincerely apologize for the lack of recent updates -- the mods have had some health problems and other personal things come up the last few months and we've been down two team members. We will hopefully be much better with communicating from here on out. For those who's packages got lost in transit and have reached out to us, your orders will be going out in the next week or two. We had some complications getting the original shipping charges reimbursed but that has been figured out so we'll be packing up new orders for you all this coming week. We'll let you know as soon as they ship out.
MOVING FORWARD
This month we took inventory of our remaining stock and started taking product photos for the Etsy store. This store will be open from Aug 1st to 31st and will have all remaining product available for those who missed the Kickstarter or who want new merch that they missed the first time around. All funds earned in the store will be added to our charity donation amount, which we will provide an update on at a later time. *In addition to our original merch, we will have new 5x7 prints available of the artwork done by Ollie and Dr Prof. There was an issue with the publication of the zine and both their pages were skipped during printing. While they're available in the PDF copy of the zine, you will have the opportunity to order a physical version. We will send out another update with a link as soon as the shop opens! We greatly appreciate your continued patience and support as we make it through these last stages of this Zine. It's been a lot of work and a learning experience for all of the mods and the fandom has been amazingly supportive and understanding.
Sincerely, we thank you!
My contribution to @dincobbzine
I'm so excited to get to share this with everyone!!
Read on AO3
Din watched the stars, lazily tracking the slow crawl of a few clouds across the night sky. Above his head, the breeze ruffled the leaves of the tree they were camped under, and had been since a light shower had sent them ducking for cover. He listened to Groguâs soft snoring, tucked into Dinâs cloak on the grass to keep out the creeping chill, exhausted after a day spent traipsing across town. Beneath that, he heard Cobb Vanthâs even breathing beside him, relaxed but not quite asleep.
Din breathed in once, long and slow. Held it as he tried not to think about the lingering heat in his palm. The buzz in his fingertips. The twist in his stomach. The memory of a rough, gloved hand wrapped around his wrist, calloused fingers brushing a bare patch of skin where Dinâs sleeve had ridden up.
He breathed out and let the feelings wash away with the breeze.
âYou awake, Mando?â
Din didnât answer, choosing instead to stroke a thumb along the crown of Groguâs head. Vanth huffed a laugh, soft and with an unusually self-deprecating edge.
âSuppose I deserve that after today. Wasnât in my right mind, I guess. Not that itâs much of an excuse, mind you.â
âDonât,â Din said, any strain in his voice filtered out by his helmetâs vocoder. He didnât want the apology Vanth would offer. Not for that.
Din turned his head aside, away from the sky. Away from the vague outline of Cobb Vanth just an armâs-length away. He stared at the town spread out beyond the knoll theyâd claimed for themselves, its lamplight glittering in the dark. The small pinpricks of blue light looked almost like stars, their soft glow not enough to obstruct the view. Nothing at all like the light pollution common in other cities, but not the total darkness of unoccupied territory, either.
Earlier, as the sun had begun to set and the crowds in the colorfully decorated plaza had thinned, a local had told them that theyâd changed out the townâs regular crystals for colored variants. Blue, theyâd said, to match the little bell-like blossoms crowding every window, arch, and stall throughout the festival. For luck, another had told him, holding out a little crown of those same flowers strung together at the stems for Grogu to wear.
Vanth had laughed, the fresh scrape on his cheek stretching with his smile, and said they couldâve used some of that luck a few days back.
Now, on the knoll and under the stars, Vanth said nothing. He let the silence stretch instead, for however long Din wanted. And he might have let it, once, until long after the moment had passed and their thoughts drifted to other topics. But that was before.
Before this latest job had brought them together again, reluctant though Vanth might have been to leave Freetown. Before this planet and its vernal festival and the way Vanthâs hand had held his, firm at first and then⌠then soft. Warm and insistent as heâd pulled Din close with that snarky, teasing grin on his face, hair mussed by his own crown of bright blue blossoms. Both of them caught up in the fun until Vanth had pulled Din so close their heads had nearly touched.
Close enough that Din might have felt Vanthâs breath on his face without his helmet. Close enough heâd almost wished it hadnât been there if only so he could have leaned in andâ
âMando,â Vanth started. Din cut him off in a rush, voice low enough he worried it hadnât carried.
âDin.â
Silence stretched between them for a few gut-twisting seconds, until Vanth repeated, âDin?â
âMy name.â
âOh.â
Din listened to Vanth move, grass and cloth and the subtle pop of a joint. Din didnât so much as twitch in his direction, choosing to keep his gaze firmly fixed on the horizon and his back flat on the ground. âYou donât strike me as the kind of man who gives his name out too often.â
âI donât,â he said. His parents and covert had known it. Grogu would know it. No one else. Except Vanth. âIâd prefer if you didnât tell anyone else.â
âWouldnât dream of it.â A pause. âDin.â Then, after another brief lull, âwhy tell me?â
Din opened his mouth. Closed it.
âI trust you,â he said, and it wasnât a lie. He trusted Vanth. As a fighter in battle. As an ally. As a friend. âI trust you,â he repeated, little more than a whisper, and staunchly ignored how his chest tightened.
He didnât startle when Vanthâs hand touched his elbow, light enough that he barely felt it through his suit. For one moment, he considered not turning. Considered letting the conversation die there, short and unfinished. A cowardâs retreat.
Din had been many things in his life, but never a coward.
He sat up, turning away from the town and stars until it was only Vanth taking up the majority of his visorâs view. Vanth sat as though the curl of his shoulders could shrink him. His hair, flowerless now, had been further mussed up by the grass and wind and rain so it stuck up and flopped in his face. Din couldnât help the way his mouth twitched at the sight. Couldnât help the way his heart skipped when Vanth next spoke.
âCobb.â
Din blinked, tipped his helmet slightly to one side at the non sequitur. Vanth smiled, all teeth and charm and said, âMy name. If I know yours, I figure itâs fair you call me by mine. Yeah?â
âOkay.â Din inhaled one long, slow breath. Tried to buy himself enough time to cool some of the heat that had risen to his face. Then, in as even a tone as he could manage, he added, âCobb.â
The flush on Vanthâs â Cobbâs â cheeks was just barely visible under the nightâs limited light. Din smirked at the sight. It was satisfying, somehow, to see him fluster, even if just in this small way. Cobb cleared his throat after a moment, ducking his head just a fraction before looking back up.
âI⌠did want to thank you, Din. Not just for the bounty, but for this. Today,â he said with a vague wave of his hand. âI know you wanted to get off this planet quick. Get us both back to our regular lives and all.â He chuckled. âSuns know I donât care much for leaving Freetown for too long, and this was all more so for the little oneâs sake, butââ
âIt wasnât.â
âWhat?â
Din hesitated. He felt the flush return to his face, but pressed on. If he took to fiddling with some blades of grass by his knee to distract himself, well. Cobb was smart enough not to comment on it.
âThis,â Din said, forcing his shaky voice to even. âWe didnât stay just for Grogu. Iââ he swallowed, mouth dry. âYou looked curious, and I kind of know what itâs like to grow up on a planet with little more than dust or dirt. Or sand,â he added with a shrug and a nod towards Cobb. âI thought youâd like it. Seeing this.â
âI did.â Cobb grinned, one side of his mouth pulling a fraction higher than the other. âThanks.â
Din nodded again. Hesitated. He pressed his lips into a thin line and worked his fingers back into the grass, soft and long and easily bent by the wind. It tickled his wrist, the same bare patch where his sleeve had ridden up earlier. The same place Cobbâs fingers had touched. Warmed his skin like the fire in the Armorerâs forge, hot enough it lingered hours later.
âYou tried to apologize,â Din said, somehow managing not to stumble over the words. âEarlier.â
Cobbâs smile dimmed a fraction.
âI did.â Cobb scratched at the rough stubble on his face, sheepish. âAnd I am sorry for oversteppingâŚâ he started but didnât finish.
Din shook his head, reaching out to bridge the gap between them and fell just shy of touching Cobb.
âDonât be. Iâmââ He stopped. Watched his fingers hover just above Cobbâs hand. âFighting is easy. Itâs always been easy. You know where you stand with your enemies or allies.â He looked up, eyes finding Cobbâs with ease even as it made his stomach flip. âBut this? Being with you. With friends,â he amended quickly, âis less clear. Iâve never needed to spend much time with⌠others outside of my work.â
Heâd had his covert, before, to fill the gap, and Grogu afterâŚ. after. Now though?
âBut you want to,â Cobb said, leading when Din fell quiet.
Din huffed, the sound caught between laughter and exasperation. At himself. At Cobb. At the words that wouldnât come out right. Heâd never been much for words when action got the job done quicker.
He let his fingers fall, twisting his hand so they brushed Cobbâs palm with a feather-light touch. Gentle in a way he usually reserved only for Grogu.
âI want to,â he said, and didnât pull away when Cobb carefully closed his fingers around Dinâs hand, grazing the bare patch of burning skin on his wrist.
My piece for the @dincobbzine! Worked with so many amazing people on this zine and Iâm so excited that itâs about to start arriving at peoples homes.
I love Bogano. I know itâs extremely unlikely Clan Mudhorn gets to spend a spring hiking there but I can dream!
Hello!! I wasn't able to afford to get the zine when it went up. Is it still available or have I missed my chance?
Hello!
As of currently, the only way to get the zine was through our Kickstarter. However, if we do have extras of the zine or merch, us mods have tossed around the idea of putting extras up for sale! We will make an official announcement once the time has come.
Thank you all so much for the support and patience âĽď¸
Iâm proud to present my completed @dincobbzine contribution! The hard work of every contributor and all of us mods has paid off for a beautiful collection of work. đđ
Prince Jacobi Vanth Skywalkerâs spotted tail flicked nervously as he descended down the grand hallways of the Mandalorian palace. His entire life would be changing from what he knew before. Tatooine was known for its colder climateâsnow covered mountain peaks and rare warm daysâbut Mandalore was lush with life under the warmth of the sun. In a few weeks time this would be his new home. It was at this moment that he would be reintroduced to his husband-to-be, after not seeing each other in over a decade.Â
