It's that time of year again, where I draw these two and beg you to consider reading some short stories! A scene of Shile and Titi from The Empty Floor. The Breakfast Debt - (This one has an audio version if you prefer) While chasing down money owed to her, Titi encounters a muruch named Shile, the Busybody, for the first time.
The Empty Floor Titi and Shile investigate the scene of a murder, committed in a room locked from the inside.
The Reed-Builder and the Deluge Shile introduces Titi to a reed-builder, Amnahun, who is puzzled by the motives of a new benefactor.
The Sculptor in the Garrison A man from Titi’s past appears, requesting assistance after being summoned to meet his old comrades. Titi and Shile accompany him to the former Strong Arms garrison in search of a ‘treasure’.
Gift art of Kanali (Baten Kaitos OC) for @jeroesworld. There are so few of us left in the English-speaking side of the fandom that I'm pretty open to requests for original characters. He has subtle elements in his design that're nods to both Kalas and Xelha (and there's some Sedge from Chrono Cross in his DNA with the weapon). As I was drawing this I felt that he looks like an authentic BK protagonist standing next to Kalas and Sagi.

Friend's zorse girl Elsie for her birthday.
Side effects.
Redraw of this drawing from late 2018. It's definitely an improvement, but maybe less than you'd expect after seven years...
They think the ocean's pretty cool.
ART AND MONEY MUST BE KEPT SEPERATE. I've been posting about this for years but I feel the need to make one last definitive take on it. Randomly I stumbled upon the "artistslounge" subreddit (and by junction the "artbusiness" and "artmarketing" subreddits). Somehow that shit is even more depressing then /ic/ or discord. endless renderf**s wondering why they cant get any attention or money out of their work, missing the point completely that AI has killed detail intensive illustration and really most styles altogether in commercial use anyway. unless you are dedicated to clout chasing and trend chasing ACTUALLY 24/7 you are probably unmarketable. either that or dumb luck/ being part of an incestuous discord group of artists with follower counts in the 1,000-20,000 range that jack each other off by reblogging each others le epic and serious furry paintings. even then you are maybe getting a few commissions, private installations, or gallery opportunities. you are not going to be the new andrew hussie or toby fox. the indie boom has been dead for 10 years and the "indie art" market is deeply oversaturated. THE INDUSTRY IS DEAD. call me blackpilled but letting go of all of this in early 2023 improved my work so much and my relationship to it too. when I have the time and the energy I work on projects and I make things that I am proud of. it earns me no money and I have no fame, success, anything, I'm just another poor person, but I actually have an active imagination again that is churning with creativity all the time. my internal world is richer even if my wallet is perpetually empty
Folon and Zola hanging out. Was just doodling while watching friends play Red Dead Redemption 2.
For @cool-mint! Spiri and Lyude.

Full redesign of a Baten Kaitos OC I've had in some form since I was about 14! Recently wrote almost 40k words about her miscellaneous misadventures and figured "huh, I should draw her". It's too sloppy and self-indulgent to post in full, but there's one scene I'm thinking about heavily re-writing and posting as a one shot... but literally 0 people will read it, so it depends on my own inertia...
Her outfit's too tame for a Baten Kaitos character but I didn't want to come up with a pain-in-the ass design that would put me off drawing her, so I split the difference. Got attached to the concept of half-capes on one shoulder and the opposite hip, with peeks of bright red lining.
Her uniform is right on the intersection between "doctor" (howie-style coat) and "clergy" (structured collar and gold trim detail) to allude to the fact that she heals with both medicine and magic.
She fights with a lantern purely because I thought the image of someone spinning poi to cast spells was unique and evocative, but my partner pointed out it links her to the Hermit tarot (the story in question is heavy on tarot themes) so now it's because she's the Hermit tarot... retrospectively. Folon is the Fool, obviously.
Agonized over her height a bit - she's meant to be more or less of height with Folon. Found a thread of the Japanese side of the fandom doing all sorts of inferences to approximate character heights and Folon is... approximately 5'5"~5'6" (Kalas and Lyude as well). That seems super short to me, but it's probably a really average male height in Japan...
A love letter to him.
Complete Artfight 2025 set. (Technically there's still 5 days left but I feel like it's finished for this year.)
Stavroula going incognito, dying her hair black and wearing plain clothes in lieu of her habit. She looks like a completely different person with these small changes. Reverted back to my old brushes and old art style for this piece so that it looked kind of consistent with the other one, but trying to do more realistic proportions. I was always drawing her at around 4 heads and very chibi looking, this is more like 5.5~6. I also once again seem to have struggled with what "skirt caught between thighs" looks like, so at least that's also consistent across both pieces.
