Crocodylo-Month, Day 8: Hesperosuchus

Another basal crocodylomorph from the Triassic Southwest, Hesperosuchus was a roughly two-meter-long animal, with extremely long legs that would have enabled it to run at high speeds.  It was a prey animal of dinosaurs, including Coelophysis.  Its bones have been found in the stomachs of fossilized Coelophysis, and were initially mistaken for the bones of Coelophysis juveniles, unfairly inflicting accusations of cannibalism on Coelophysis that have lingered for years.

Hesperosuchus barely resembles a crocodylomorph at all in comparison with modern crocodilians, or even with some its contemporaries, such as Carnufex.  This really goes to show the massive diversity once possessed by crocodylomorphs.  But if you think Hesperosuchus is crazy, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet…

Don’t Cry for me Argentina 

A carnotaurus strides towards higher ground, as the tides slowly consumes the mudflats of the La Colonia formation for the day.

A nice little dinosaur from the southern most part of the continent, a personal favorite of mine, pretty jelly of those Argentinians for having such a unique and adorable predator, but we still have the T-rex ;D I hope you guys like it! Dinosaurs down under

For millions of years, a wide variety of dinosaurs battled harsh, wintry conditions as the Southern Lights flickered above their heads. These unique pioneer discoveries of paleontology, some gigantic and some petite, have all left their remains in opal and rock in the “Land Down Under.”

The list of Aussie dinosaurs is far from a long one, and you could count the best-known dinosaurs with your fingers. The animals that made their living here are among the most surprising. They include some of the cutest, fiercest and possibly the largest dinosaurs ever. Whether they lived in polar forests or wet swampland, these dinosaurs were one of a kind.

Fan art for one of my favourite dinosaur movies, You are Umasou! I drew this back when I was still getting back into dinosaurs thus is not an accurate drawing of a t-rex plus I was sticking close to the original design for heart.

Parasaurolophus ( PAR-a-saw-ROL-o-fus ) family group :  Hadrosauroidea My first submission to tumblr and my first proper “study” on a dinosaur skull and what not. I tried to draw a Parasaurolphus working from a sketch I did of it’s skull then worked my way up from there. I also tried to shake up the design a bit and draw feathers and whiskers on it despite they probably don’t have them (?) but I wanted to try something different-ish. Sorry about how toony it is, that’s just my art style
