Protect Dinosaur Valley — Put Guardrails on Massive Data Centers in Texas

I normally don't like to talk about current events here, but I seriously believe that this needs to be addressed! The Dinosaur Valley State Park in Texas is in huge danger of having an AI data center being build near the park. The byproducts of AI facilities that poisons the air, uses up the water, pushes up electricity, and harmfully impacts the animals, plants, and people living nearby. Even worse, the request to postpone the operation has been denied by Texas courthouses. But, it's not too late yet! If you care so much in preserving the paleontological site, its ecosystem, and to help the people of Glen Rose TX, then please sign the petition in the link up above. Dinosaur Valley State Park is one of the few places where you can walk the same path as the prehistoric animals did millions of years before you, and I'll be seriously devastated if the unethical facility gets build there.

And if anyone sees this post, then I highly encourage you to reblog it so that way more people can learn about what's about to happen near Dinosaur Valley State Park. The more awareness about this petition, the better are in chances to save the dinosaur valley before it's too late. Let's protect this amazing park!

Morrison Formation Theropods, Procreate Wanted to go for that more “sketched” look this time (and cause I’m too lazy to make more refined stuff lol) Disclaimer: not all the species depicted necessarily lived at the same time, they are just from the same formation! Ex: Allosaurus fragilis and Allosaurus jimmadseni lived million years apart and never came into contact with one another. The Morrison formation is a geological layer of rock that dates back the Jurassic Period around 157-145 million years ago. The formation is famous for having an incredibly diverse ecosystem with over 12 to 24 different species of sauropods, most of which were some of the largest animals to ever walk the earth. Additionally, the formation is uniquely home to one of the most diverse group of large predatory theropods including Torvosaurus, Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus, and Marshosaurus. This amount of large predators is extremely rare only really be rivaled in diversity by the Kem Kem formation. Here I showcase just a small sector of the Morrison Formation’s preserved species, the theropods of the Morrison from the smallest to the largest!

This 260-Million-Year-Old Reptile Fossil Is Reshaping the Story of Turtle Evolution

Learn how a 260-million-year-old Permian reptile, once thought to explain turtle evolution, turned out to belong to a different lineage, reshaping the story of turtle origins in the Triassic Period.

Eunotosaurus africanus seemed to capture an early stage in turtle evolution. It had wide, flattened ribs, a shortened trunk, and a body that, to generations of paleontologists, looked unmistakably like a shell in the making. For nearly two decades, the 260-million-year-old reptile sat near the base of the turtle family tree, offering one of the earliest clues to how turtles began evolving their shells. Then, a team of researchers looked inside its skull. In a new study published in Current Biology, researchers used CT scanning to examine the internal anatomy of Eunotosaurus in new detail. The scans suggest the animal was not an early turtle at all, but a member of a separate extinct reptile lineage that independently evolved a turtle-like body. The finding removes a source of confusion from the turtle family tree and helps bring fossil evidence in line with DNA studies showing that turtles are closely related to archosaurs, the reptile group that includes crocodiles, birds, dinosaurs, and pterosaurs. Instead, the scans showed a close match with millerettids, a group of extinct stem reptiles from the Permian Period. Milleretta rubidgei, one member of that group, shared 12 anatomical features with Eunotosaurus, including broad, overlapping ribs and a shortened trunk...
