sorry if this is too non-rp relavent, but do you have a non-rp twilight blog? i mostly wanted to ask about how you would rewrite twilight if you could, lol. feel free to ignore this!

 hi  nonnie  !  you  can  occasionally  find  me  over  @outrotear​  but  that’s  where  i  reblog  bangtan  related  content.  everything  related  to  twilight  i  post  here  since  it’s  relevant  to  my  writing  and  my  portrayal.  

 but  to  answer  your  question  ooof  i  could  rant  for  a  million  years  about  this.  if  you’ve  read  my  meta  /  character  study  posts  i  think  you’ll  have  some  idea  of  what  directions  i  would  take  rewriting  twilight.

 first  and  foremost  the  love  triangle  must  go.  i’m  gonna  try  to  be  brief  and  not  write  a  long  ass  post  about  this  but  it  has  to  go.  it  undermines  everything  bella  is  supposed  to  be  sure  about,  bella’s  wants  and  objectives  in  life,  her  love  for  edward,  her  desire  to  become  a  vampire,  without  actually  challenging  or  making  her  question  them  in  a  substantially  meaningful  way.  it  all  is  reduced  to  being  attracted  to  her  friend.  which  is  another  issue,  the  romantic  subplot  between  two  people  who  are  meant  to  be  Best  Friends™  demeans  bella’s  supposed  friendship  with  jacob,  and  as  it  is  portrayed  said  friendship  practically  nonexistent.  

 there  are  many  things  that  i  would  change,  from  character  decisions  to  just  how  things  are  written  and  the  wording  used  in  the  actual  writing.  but  i  think  the  inclusion  of  jacob  and  the  love  triangle  is  its  main  issue  and  the  first  thing  that  needs  to  be  fixed,  as  jacob  was  not  meant  to  even  exist  in  the  book  and  SM  only  came  up  with  the  character  in  order  to  make  the  originally  intended  two  books  (twilight  and  forever  dawn)  into  a  series  of  books.  you  can  read  about  the  differences  between  forever  dawn  and  breaking  dawn  in  this  faq  page  on  meyer’s  blog.

 in  this  post  about  the  issue  of  framing  in  twilight  i  explain  how  it  affects  bella’s  (and  consequently  edward’s)  characters  negatively  in  its  execution,  but  same  goes  to  jacob.  the  way  he’s  portrayed  deprives  him  from  being  a  self  realised  character,  he’s  abs  candy  and  a  love  interest  with  the  sole  purpose  to  rival  edward.  and  that’s  just…  shitty.  characters  should  be  people,  not  mere  plot  devices.  i  would  send  the  love  triangle  and  everything  it  involves  right  to  the  bin  where  it  belongs  and  write  an  actual  friendship  with  actual  nuance  and  real  conflict.
