I think one day, ultimately, I’m going to learn about everything. How much milk you put in your cereal, how much sugar goes in your coffee. Your favorite scents, the sights you’re dying to take pictures of, the songs that pull your heartstrings when you hear them, your comfort foods for both body and soul. How you dance on both left feet, how your eyelashes flutter when you sleep, or how your breath catches when I kiss your neck. How you want me to love you, how you want me to make love to you. Your habits that you think may be too embarrassing to share, your scars that you’re perhaps too shy to show, your wounds that are yet to heal and you’re reluctant for me to see. How you really really love anything made of chocolate, and how it could make you hyper sometimes. How certain games and shows make you happy you could talk about them for hours on end. The things that used to haunt you, maybe some past choices or unwise decisions or mistakes which you thought were unforgivable. Unsaid words and hidden feelings that you’ve never told or shown anyone because you think no one might understand. The things that make up your bucket list, all the places and adventures and people and cultures you want to experience. Those moments when you seem to think too much, or say too much, or feel too much, or hurt too much, or love too much. What scares you, what makes you feel uncomfortable or insecure, what makes you completely lose it. How you think you look bad in your photos, how cranky you can get when you’re tired sometimes, or how sad or upset you can be when certain things overwhelm you. How looking at the stars or the sunset or a field of flowers makes you feel. What your happy little pills are or your go-to places when you’re having a bad day. Your secrets that you’re just waiting for someone to ask about. Those times when you need someone to tell you that everything will be okay, or to remind you how amazing and beautiful you are, in case you forget. Let me see the dark sides as well as the bright. The little things that make up what you are. One day, I’m going to learn about them all. And guess what? I’m still going to love you.
