Woke up this morning feeling euphoric.Â
Like that exact moment you realize the love u feel for someone is mutual. Or like it's my probate, graduation day, my wedding day or the birth of my first child. I don't know how else to describe the magnitude of this moment.Â
And I have many of u to thank for this feeling.Â
Most of all I'm thankful to the Creator for my gift and the good sense to finally use it for myself.Â
This journey hasn't been easy but it's definitely been eye-opening and life-changing. Siren Song is coming y'all!!!!!Â
*squeal*
just so you know. Â

not feeling hot but just wanted to say thank you and let you know that the mission is NOT over!!! Â #pressplay #operationmakemovie #directorsdiary
I think I pretty much did all of this ... ‪#‎OperationMakeAMovie‬ <<<< it was named that for a reason. My #1 goal was to just get it made ... and with your help, I will! :)  www.gofundme.com/omm2015
#filmtrivia
The film Malcolm X was almost canned because Spike Lee ran out of money and the studio wouldn't give him anymore. He knew he couldn't tell the story the way it SHOULD be told with the budget he was given. And he'd already given up 2/3 of his salary for the film.
So -- because your network = your net worth -- Spike turned to all his celebrity friends he'd built relationships with over the years. People who had lots of money and would probably be willing to help this story be told.
(from The Making of Malcolm X) Â Â "Their contributions were made as donations; as Lee noted: "This is not a loan. They are not investing in the film. These are black folks with some money who came to the rescue of the movie. As a result, this film will be my version. Not the bond company's version, not Warner Brothers'. I will do the film the way it ought to be, and it will be over three hours." The actions of such prominent members of the African American community giving their monies helped finish the project as Spike Lee envisioned it."
Because of people like Bill Cosby, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Janet Jackson, and Prince ... Malcolm X saw the light of day --- and in turn made me both a fan of Spike Lee and filmmaking in general.
I tell this story for the same reason I told the story of how Spike got his first film made. To show that when OUR people invest in each other, amazing things happen. Inspirational and EPIC things. All we have to do is sow the seed and help them out.
MANY films never see the light of day because of lack of capital/resources ... and that's sad. Imagine all the stories we're NOT seeing because of money issues or lack of people willing to help out.
You may not have millions but to a struggling filmmaker, even $5 is a step in the right direction. IJS.

‪#‎DirectorsDiary‬:
Friends and Family ... I have no words right now.
I told someone this morning that my goal each day this month has been $100 ...Today I got almost $400.
I just stated we may make $4500 by Monday, and thanks to another creative's donation, it's now happened earlier than anticipated.Â
I'm trying not to get emotional right now but all the anxiety I felt just weeks ago is slowing disappearing ... and I have many of you to thank for that.
It would be great to get the whole $7K so we can do this film RIGHT, but I'm just excited to know it's gonna get done.
12 more days to go. Don't stop now! www.gofundme.com/omm2015

Dear Creator,
The past few weeks have been an emotional roller coaster. wishing i could share things with certain people, but they're not here. Â
Sorta like when I finished the script and wanted to inbox Ms. Judi Ann to tell her I finally did it ... Â Bittersweet moment.
But I feel their spirits and their angel wings around me ... and they're telling me to keep going -- so i do.
I pray that my cast knows i'm not grinding this hard just for me ... I'm doing this for them too. Â i don't work this hard for something or someone i don't believe in. Â
I pray that all those who have donated realize how much they are appreciated -- especially those who barely know me or haven't talked to me in a while .... because you didn't have to support my dream, but you did. Â I'm extremely grateful. Â And even to those who have just shared words of encouragement -- I thank you.
This journey isn't over but I've already learned so much. And I hope to keep learning, growing and most of all -- creating.
12 days left.

what he said.Â
In case you’re wondering ...Â
#DirectorsDiary ... Resuming readings with the cast this week/weekend. This is #LatePost from a previous reading with star Blythe L. Dennis (Raven). They've had a little hiatus to get their music ready and to memorize their lines ... Can't wait to see how they do ;)Â #OperationMakeAMovie #SirenSong #15Days

#CastingUpdate:Â
Our re-casting for the role of BLUE delivered us quite a gem!
Please welcome to the Siren Song cast, ANGELIQUE FEASTER-EVANS.
This accomplished actress is well known in the theater community in Shreveport and surrounding areas as the Founder and Director of Mahogany Ensemble Theatre AND the Southern Black Theatre Festival.
She has sooo many awards, accolades and credits I can't even name them all.
Angelique is an amazing spirit, a phenomenal woman and she uplifts her fellow woman like no other I've ever known.
Truth be told, I wanted her to audition long ago but felt like such a veteran actress would never take a role in such a small indie production ... but when the re-casting happened, I was so excited to see her submit ... and now she's our BLUE!
I'm extremely eager to not only work with her but learn from her and make this production the best it can be ... Mahogany/i powers unite! smile emoticon

Siren Song’s Music Director/Supervisor Jason Aro is a lot like me in that it's rare you see his FACE in a profile pic or on social media lol. So before he took it down I wanted to share!
When I told Aro I was making this film, and asked him to do the music for it, I knew it was a grand task and a major request ... but he took on the challenge -- as I knew he would -- and has created some amazing work for both the soundtrack and the film score.
Our roles on this project are firsts for both of us but I knew I didn't want anyone else touching the music if it wasn't him.
What started out as a client/producer relationship some years ago has grown into a pseudo-sibling relationship between talented creatives who push each other to greatness. I am SO proud of him and am so excited for you to hear his next-level work.
BUT FIRST ... We need to get this money! So go DONATE >>>www.gofundme.com/omm2015
ALSO -- Be on the look out tomorrow (4/13) for a promo from Aro and also details on the KloudNineMusic beat tape(s) that will be added to our Rewards section.
And of course .... Go check out his production at www.kloudninemusic.com

I just decided that if we get Siren Song made and make it to the Top 20 in the Louisiana Film Prize, we will do a live showcase with artists featured on the soundtrack (including the cast). Wanna come? Help us meet our goal >>> www.gofundme.com/omm2015
